These kind of cars are exactly what I like to see. Shiny 57 Chevys are not interesting to me. That wagon is just pure badass and has got to be the rarest Mopar from the 70s. I can't even believe it actually still exists! Great find and thanks for sharing.
I would much rather watch cars like these roll off a trailer for a few hours than watch million dollar, billionaire museum pieces roll by on Barrett Jackson.
The old commercial signs are getting collectable. 1974 was an in-between year for styles, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of rust on that one, makes it quite rare to be that intact. Cold war motors would be jealous
Most of these seemed to be some sort of brown or green, nice to see a blue one..There were a few maroon/burgundy usually 76-78 versions and even silver ones most common besides green and brown in my area..I do remember a black Crestwood wagon 77 or 78 and it had duel exhaust and a trailer tow package, was about 3 blocks from my house.. I have a 1974 400 4 barrel and 727 pulled from a nice Coronet Wagon from the junkyard back in 1994'ish.Complete engines and trans were $350!! We used to buy a engine or trans every payday(I was early 20's then).. Sad people here just junked good solid cars that ran good but only failed smog because of a carburetor needing a rebuild(they stopped smog testing in the early 2000's,too late to save most wagons and 4 doors). Most cars thats what it was, very sad so simple and a cheap repair but...They bought that new $6999 Hyundai Excel instead! The 400 only needed a carb rebuild and it ran perfect, good power, compression was 130 plus on all 8!!!! After a 750 Carter and high flow manifolds It found its place in a 68 Charger I had at the time as the 383 was pooched and barely running.I later pulled the 400 for a strong 440 in later 90's then sold it and bought a real 69 Charger R/T that was too nice to pass up(still have it). I even have the 400,now a 451 with just over 500 hp..The 383 was rebuild and slapped in a 72 Barracuda turned 'Cuda and was a beast! Man,those days were great! Now I pay $40k and dump another $20k to make $10-$25K lol oh well..Still a good hobby! Thought maybe you would like a little story form my past by an early 50 year old geezer!
And My mom used to scape bottom on the rear end all the time backing out of my aunt’s driveway which was on a steep grade, just like Tig almost did backing it off the trailer here.
Thanks for the video of the nice Dodge wagon. Especially the tailgate lubrication demo. We have shared your road trip video with my father in law he’s a World War II vet b 1921
Grew up in a '73 Coronet wagon with a 318. Great car! My Dad kept it until 1990. '74 was the last year for the Chrysler fuselage era design and Elwood Engel's last year at Chrysler.
You identify this as a '9 passenger' but just as importantly, the Coronet and Satellite of this era were the only Intermediates wagons that could hold a full sheet of plywood with the tailgate closed. 😁
I owned a '74 Dodge Colt station wagon, back in the day, and there were a surprising amount of similarities! Color was blue, loved that car, very fun to drive! 😁
Wagons are so cool. I bought a 1996 Buick Roadmonster wagon from the original owner in 2003 with 45K. It had the rare factory towing package and when I hooked my camper up to it the rear end would first dip and then raise as it adjusted itself. I coached my granddaughters soccer team and it was not unusual for us to have two adults and seven kids crammed into the wagon, they would argue who got to sit in the back as they thought it was awesome. I drove it to 150K and then it began exhibiting issues too costly to fix, that coupled with my wifes absolute disdain for the car led to me getting rid of it.
y'all find some sweet cars. In the early 80's I bought a clean 74 Satellite Regent wagon from a hippie in Boulder Colorado, back before CO started salting their roads. I don't remember if it was the 318 or 360, but it had A/C and got horrible gas mileage...could barely afford to drive for the couple years I had it. It was tan over tan with the wood sides...pretty nice, but I like your blue over blue better. I sure like all the wacky and wonderful cars in your driveway. The new wall signs are awesome too
This wagon is pretty cool, like the front grille with the twin headlights and its a V8 as well. That dealer sign is awesome! Been enjoying your content. Cheers from New Zealand 😊
@16:31 when going to the parts store for belts, take the old belts with you. T verify the size. Chrysler was infamous for changing belts and pulleys during production. And the parts books may or may not be accurate.
My dad ordered one of these new as his company car, he ordered it with a posi-traction rear end & deluxe wheel covers radio delete (none of the company cars where he worked could have a radio).
He had it painted company colors white with an orange stripe down the sides. Company logo on the front doors He worked for The Nova Scotia Power Corporation.@@ObsoleteAutomotive
I see that station wagon and think about seeing one of these with White truck rims I believe they had deflated tires so they wouldn't sink in the sand because it was being used as a vehicle for lifeguards Cannon Beach or Seaside Oregon
Hey Austin you scamp! Imagine using a swiss army knife for one of it's many uses. Good call. I Love wagons and this one is no exception. Love the sign too! Treasures abound and you find them all. Keep it up!!!
I'm new to post-73 US cars, seems a good solid example for 50 years old. The pen-knife use was doing my head in too, but now i know why you did it I'm on your side 😁 amd the irony of finding the screwdriver ten seconds later 😄 I'm quite new to this channel, but i think you do a great job. Well done from here in England 👍😎👍
Sweet wagon man! Talk about RARE! You never see these on the road. You might have a bit of a challenging time finding little odds and ends parts like trim/badges etc considering its not only a Mopar but a wagon as well. Either way it's cool to see it runs and is pretty clean considering the age, I'm sure you'll get it looking and running real nice. P.s. I LOVE the Pentastar keychain you had on the key for this car ❤. And I fuckin ADORE and love your Pentastar used car sign. Been looking for some myself, Dodge/Dodge Truck Chrysler/Plymouth whatever. They remind me of being a kid when chrysler still rocked the pentastar on dealer signs.
A friend of mine that I worked with had a tan wagon the just like that one that had a 360 v-8 in it . His Dad said that it was ordered set up like the police version , I don’t know how true it is but I know that the wagon ran like a scalded dog! It was fast lol and never broke down . But looking at that wagon especially being tan inside and out and just kinda ordinary like it was , it made for the perfect sleeper lol . I actually wanted to buy that wagon but it was given to a family member a few years later that needed a car . This video reminded me of that car . Hail if you put that one up for sale , I might be interested lol
Wagon’s sweet - so’s the sign! About the hood letters - maybe they go missing because they are easy to pry off and they interchange with a more desirable Dodge? The same “Plymouth” letters were used on the hood of my ‘66 Satellite as well as the deck lid on my ‘64 Barracuda, and I harvested a bunch off much later Furies - every time I saw one in a yard with a better letter or two I grabbed them.
Austin my 64 Dodge Polara was a little lighter blue that that wagon , my 70 Plymouth Satellite was Midnight Blue with wide white strip that ran from front to rear , my 73 Plymouth Duster was the same Midnight Blue with the wide white strip from front to rear . The only non- bkue i had was my 68 Dodge Dart it was yellow with black top and interior it had a 318 automatic and ran a whole in the wind !!
It is very apt that you got the NOS Chrysler sign there Austin. How did you get to like Mopar rather than the more usual GM or Ford products? Really glad you did; and a really great piece of what is called by youtubers over here in England, Carqaeology. That´s always fun.
That would go great with my 74 Charger. When it started on the trailer it sounded just like mine. Love the Chrysler starter. My Charger has the same blue interior.
Would have been nice to see the mileage tally from the odometer. Pretty sure that it has not rolled over 100,000 based on its condition. I was surprised by how much surface rust is on the underside of the roof. Did the factory not apply any paint there?
Hey I don't think those hubcaps came on that particular car because usually Chryslers and almost all the cars for Ford/GM/ Chrysler when the cars came with the small poverty caps usually the rims are painted the same color as the car. and rims are black on that wagon with the little poverty caps? So I'm pretty sure that car came with full wheel covers when it was new.
4:09 no SMOKE!!!!??? You got 20 more years on that 'mill! Wow!!!! For you kids: Notice the factory "gaps" at every panel, door, hood, tailgate etc... If you don't see this, you're looking at major reconstruction. Pay attention! Cheers!

Nice. There is probably 2 or 3 1974 Coronet wagons left on the planet.
I would agree with you
Oh yea you definitely don’t see these! I’ve personally never seen one other than in photos!

Totally agree! A real car.
I remember when those wagons were everywhere

The only rust is on the doglegs and drivers floor pan. Otherwise she’s pretty dang solid!
That generation of wagon was produced from 1971 through 1978 as a Coronet Suburban 1971 to 1976 and as a Monaco Suburban from 1977 to 1978. Nice find.
Nice wagon and packed with goodies.
