Actually, I highly recommend the chan/kun sport models in the line if you can get them. They improve on these first gen models in about every way. The articulation and sturdiness is just so much better. The only thing is that they’re themed around sports. So the hand types are going to be geared towards that. But if you have other kun/chan models, the hands from the old ones are swapable.
Ooh, I’ve been pretty curious about these. Have never tried them. They definitely seem more useful for posing compared to the wooden doll version. The art you drew from using the figure as your foundation looked pretty cool! I like the way you draw shoes, and the colouring on the flowers looks nice! Saving a lot of time with the base seems helpful. Thanks for another cool video!
Thank you 😊 I kinda like those figures, I could really see myself using them for more complicated poses. The pose I did in this video is not too hard to draw, so I’m not sure if it was that Helpful. But I will continue testing them 😊
I feel like the pose-ability is quite good, the shoulder moves more than I would have expected. Of course no way near a real human but I think it is probably faster than searching for the right reference shot for hours or using 3d posable models. The only problem is the flimsiness, if the pose doesn't hold it's honestly super frustrating
There's one art mannequin which has "natural" scapulas: Armature 9 Rider or Ranger with flexible clavicles. These are the best art mannequins. They are pricey (starting at $99 USD), but worth it. @@modauth yeah i saw different brands with some charging half of the price and i would really like to know which one is the best. But i still don't know if 50 or maybe 30$ is worth one figure that i might just use a few times, because of the digital world giving us free alternatives
I bought both the body-kun and body-chan. I have used only the female version so far. Mine is a bit stiff and I'm always afraid of breaking it. Changing the hands are a pain but I eventually got it. I would only recommend these to people who have their own style because otherwise it's hard to use and understand.
I bought the shf sport edition one this July and it's really good it has a lot of pose that you can do than the dx one which I also have, surprising the dx is still alive ( I've bought it in 2021) as long as your careful with it
This was a really great demonstration / review video . These are wonderful when used as a drawing guide , i have three of them. They save a lot of time and are perfect for comic book art , especially when you need to create action scenes .
You can try use hot water to soften the part before you remove and place parts. The water softens the plastic and it won't break easily. You also want to try 20mm macro lense, so it will match with the scale and make it look more natural and lifesize. I wouldn't trace either. As a guideline is best.
They do eventually losen over time but not like a worn down way, more of a no longer stiff and stuck in a box way. I’ve had mine for awhile and they definitely get easier to mess around with the more you pose them! You could also place them in a bowl of warm water/wrap them in a warm towel to help the plastic relax or even just hold them in your hands to heat them up 👍
I have body kun and I have had him since maybe 2013? and he's still intact never broken, I used him for posing since I was a preteen and even now as an adult I still use him because its much easier getting him in the pose I want and then taking pictures of the perspective and using that as a reference than finding the same pose online. I'm thinking of getting the sports version since that one seems to have more poseability.
Always be careful where you buy these from--they are /notoriously/ bootlegged! I don't have these specific models, but I do own a few poseable anime figurines made from the same company a while back, & my big meaty gaijin hands always seem to snap at least one hand or twintail joint in half -_-. Never have the same issue with Figma, but have with the real old Nendoroids. Maybe your are bootlegs, but unless they made improved versions, it might just be SHFiguarts as a brand... Or the big meaty gaijin hands, lol
Yeah, you’re totally right. What’s terrible about hose figures is: online you can’t find them ranged between 10$ and 120$ 😂 and you still don’t know which one is the real deal. Really unfortunate

These would have been interesting if they had the natural scapula/clavicle/shoulder mobility needed to create realistic dynamic poses.

@@asimian8500 That looks perfect. Thanks!
@@modauthhello why do you think it is better than 3D models ( like on clip studio paint )
@lostchld Actual models are way easier to pose, and you can more easily move the camera around to find the ideal angle.
I had these so often recommended, but they are kinda expensive
Mine weren’t that expensive 😅 that’s also why I guess they’re probably fake 😮
But yeah, the real ones are pretty expensive but probably also a lot better, maybe not as flimsy

How do you change the hand? Are there any special tricks to it?

I would buy a figure from my favourite anime instead you could use it to draw and its pretty cool
Sounds fair :)
i actually did that,
What is the chart/table under the Bodykun that you have? I wanna buy one of those to draw on top f. I’m talking about the black chart thing.
Will it help people like me who are not confident in drawing anime style?

I can't even trace properly
Practice will always be key unfortunately, just keep on drawing

Set an SH figure
I mean, that is a SH figure art
Those are bootlegs
Seems rather pointless when there are numerous free poseable mannequin apps online.
No real artists know the struggle of posing those mannequins, buying this thing is more time efficient and less stressful
Having something like this is far superior than 3D software as it’s much quicker in every aspect. It’s used as a quick base for reference.
It's the fake ones
Do you know where the real ones are?
