But the TCL having better especular highlights gives the TV that 3D pop od the G4 I've seen some comparisons. Today I went to Costco and they had a TCL that's not even the QM8 and it looked awesome, next to it was the X90L and they both looked similar off angle the image degrades but honestly I don't remember when was the last time I watched Tv off angle. It's not like the image degrades if you move a little ti the side. No big deal.

I'm using a test firmware (v999) on the 85" 2023 QM8 right now and man, it's GOOD. It's like they took everything they learned from the 2024 model and tried to apply it back. EOTF improved, blacks are slightly better than v295, midtones are brighter in DV. One thing you can say for TCL is that it may not be perfect at launch, but they at least try to get there eventually.

One thing to point out - if you set those TVs both at 30 degree angle then you cannot point camera in the middle of them because this way you show less than 30 degrees on Sony vs more than 30 on tcl depending on camera distance could be 10 degrees difference easy

12 bit processing of the backlight can be improved to 32 bit next year - TCL has the resources. I hope they stop adding dimming zones and start working on the miniLED controls next. Luminance control to maximize shadow detail without lifting blacks and reducing specular highlihts is not easy but it can be done better than even the B9. I have to disagree with FOMO so bad this time. No, the Bravia 9 is not worth 2 TCLs QM851 the TCL has lower input lag (better latency) than the Bravia 9 for gaming. If the TV gon to cost more than Doble, it's not even Doble, it's more than Doble it should be better in gaming too but it isn't and personally I don't think off viewing angles is a big deal. I don't remember when was the last time I watched tv off angle.. IMO price difference is not justified.

I picked up Hisense U8N 85 inch on sale for $2k and have been super happy with it. 144hz gaming, extra HDMI 2.1 port, Freesync Pro, all advantages over B9. The contrast and brightness are ridiculous. Shadow detail is very good. Has some small bugs and poor side viewing angles but I watch it from the center. Upscaling from 720p is a bit rough but if you feed it quality 1080p and 4k signals, the picture is amazing. Better than my last flagship Samsung mini led (QN90A).
I actually was interested in B9 but it just isn't worth it for me at more than double the price for 10% better performance.

In a previous video where the the Sony the TCL and the Hisense were all on display FOMO himself admitted the Hisense beat the TCL in many aspects. However he constantly pushes the TCL as the only competition to the Sony in the mini LED space. It's as if he is deliberately ignoring the Hisense and writing it off. He keeps praising the TCL to high heaven about extreme brightness as if that was the holy grail of picture quality. In a previous video he said the Hisense was closer to reference when it comes to skin tone, beating the tcl. But since then zip. The hisense may not be as bright as the TCL but I think it has more saturation and pop in the colors. I am confused by his takes that go back and forth sometimes.

I picked Hisense because the price was cheaper than QM8 and I liked that Hisense puts mini-LEDs in multiple lines of their U series vs TCL only putting them in their flagship. I also owned several budget TCL and Hisense TVs for my kitchen and had tons of quality issues with TCL and no issues with Hisense.

Also this is in a torture test we're not really watching Pitch Black backgrounds with lots of starts most of the time anyways. And knowing that the TCL QM8 rivals the LG G4 in motion (LG G4 surpassed Sony this year in Motion) I'll take the 65" TCL without a doubt. I have two issues with TCL. First, Sony just has better processing. Specifically Sony's upscaling performance is significantly better. This is what keeps me on Sony for my primary Televisions.
The second issue I have with TCL is that every GoogleTV TCL TV I've dealt with has OS issues. Perhaps they've fixed that for this year, but last year's TCL TVs had boot loop, app loop, and crashing issues. I own a TCL Q5. It works well for its purpose (1080p gaming, kids' game room TV). I have to use an external streaming box for it though. To be fair, I think everyone should be using an external streamer, but I was sad to see that I had so many issues with the built in GoogleTV OS.
For those of you who say that the more expensive models (2023 Q6, Q7, and QM8) have better OS support, perhaps they do. However I ran into a ton of issues when I set them up for demo at the Best Buy I worked at. Sony's GoogleTV implementation is better than both TCL and Hisense.

It depends on what you want. If you want the best image quality and if viewing angles differ a bit, the B9 is the winner. If you just want brightness impact, size and the ones viewing it are basically doing it from almost straight up front, then the bigger TCL could be better for you. So really it depends on your own preferences. Personally I'm someone who prefers quality, but I imagine there's no shortage of people who prefer size and brightness impact.

The Bravia 9 has the best viewing angle of LED this year (and perhaps ever for LED) so going a bit off angle isn't an issue. The TCL does seem to have a pretty major issue with it, but TCL is a beast for more casual consumers that mainly focuses on brightness and drops the ball on many things. Meanwhile the B9 is superb in every way. Brightness doesn't match the TCL, but it's still one of the brightest LEDs ever consistently delivers a far better image.

If you’re down to these two tvs and cost isn’t an issue it’s not even a question that the Sony is better. As for now. I’m on the G4 wagon

Very close but it looks like the Sony Bravia 9 is better in 85" but for the same price you can get a 98" QM851 😊

“You’re going to need a second tv if you have a QM8 and the Bravia 9 is worth double” this doesn’t line up at all with any of your other videos on the QM8

FOMO I have a Brava 9 75 on order from best buy for the difference between the price from 65 to 75 couldn't pass up is there much difference between 65 bravia 9 and 75 Bravia 9 there are no reviews that i can find for the 75.

The Bravia 9 cost MORE than DOBLE the TCLQM851 so basically I can get 2 TCLs plus 100 Tacos 🌮. Price is not justified the QM8 has even better input latency so if you like to play shooting games online the lower the latency the better for you to get the W. I don't know about you but I like to have fun but I like to win and every millisecond counts when aiming for the win. The Bravia should be better in every aspect but it is not. And even if it was the price difference is not justified I think it's just the brand Name lol

It's the point of do you want the best or do you want close enough? Some people keep their TVs for 5+ years, so buying the best now, will stop you from wanting to upgrade sooner. If you don't care about the differences or off angle viewing, then definitely save money and buy the TCL.

The Bravos looks worlds better than the tcl. Sorry but tcl looks like a cheap TV not like a high end tv

here in Australia it costs almost 3x the equivalent TCL
the TCL is still like 2/3 of the Bravia 7's price!!! and checking the B7 vs the TCL in store (after applying basic calibration), the TCL was the clear winner. Comparing it with the B9 is like comparing a Corolla with an M3.

      @bauboni 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@buschtyy the "Bravos" looks way better... off angle, on angle and calibrate they are close. Also, the "Bravos" has a delicate coating that improves its viewing angle, such coating is easily wiped out with any damped cloth, in other words, if you ever try to clean fingerprints from it you will ruin the coating as many complain on the internet

@@bauboni Fixing the color would be easy for anyone who has enough of an eye about color to be upset in the first place. I never get too hung up on color accuracy.

You should really discuss and display your settings that you're using on each panel at the beginning of every video like this. It's really hard to trust what I'm seeing without physically seeing the settings being used.

They are hurting because hamstrung this year by their refusal to implement the best LCD technology from BOE (ADS Pro) due to patent battles. The QN90/95D has fallen behind last year's QN90C/95C as a result.
