The man provides you a extremely valuable solution to a common but costly problem, other than 5 minutes of your time and for free none the less and all everyone wants to focus on are his fingernails... Really appreciate you taking the time to make this video man. Came in clutch and probably just saved my ass from having to replace the port. My fingernails are just as bad, doing shit like this sometimes is pretty rough cuz they stay sore as fuck lol
Grab a nail brush and put it in the shower! Target has a nice ergonomic quality bristle nail brush for less than $3.00. However, great video, I didn't consider how metal might cause problems.
I am Electronic Maintenace Engineer and I use WOODEN TOOTHPICK. Preferable triangle shaped which has tiny tip. It is safer that plastic which can cause static electricity and can harm the phone. Also using metal pin is very bad idea! It can cause short circuits and scratch the connector surface.
My port connection has been kind of loose for a while now but today I tried plugging my phone in and I couldn't get it to charge _at all._ I figured I'd have to clear some dirt out and found this video just to be sure what the best way to do it was (pretty much as I imagined; and I used the sharp end of a zap strap as a cleaning tool). I got a fair amount of crap out, but much to my chagrin, the phone still wouldn't charge even though the connection was better than ever. I was worried I had done some sort of permanent damage while trying to clean it. Then I realized that I had plugged it into a power bar that wasn't connected to a power source. The phone is charging as we speak and I don't have to fiddle with the charger's position anymore.
Excellent! Reminds me of the classic PC support line procedure for assisting with a blank screen, "Sir/Ma'am, is your computer on and plugged in?" That stuff really does happen, even to normal people.
You made my day. After months of struggling with charging my phone and waiting sometimes four to five hours to finish charging. I'm back to 1.5 hours charging. Couldn't believed it would work, I was wrong very wrong. Thanks
Boy oh boy... I almost threw my phone...every time I charge I have to try 10 times... and I cleaned the port with a needle ... I must have pulled out like a half of my plug size dirt
Great video! After seeing your makeshift pick I took an old expired credit card and cut a piece off and and made a sharp point simply using some scissors. The credit card plastic is rigid enough to make pretty pointy & will let you really dig around in the dirty port. Thanks for the great tip!
@@daniidilemma1011 of course I do. I'm still around. Got a new studio setup to start recording with. Just had to take a break to improve my content and reinvigorate my interest. Thank you for sticking around with me.

Bro thanks for this video! I was getting ready to replace my phone but when I came across this video I decided to try to clean my charging port! so much lint came out of it and when I got it all out my phone started charging properly again! Thanks man!
Wow, can't quite believe how much came out and how this fixed my problem immediately. I tried a flat toothpick but the end of a floss pick gets my vote for easy to use tool. Thank you very much!
Honestly, didn't think this would work at first, thought my port was messed up, but IT DID WORK! Don't replace your port, trust me and clean it like this guy recommends.
After finding this vid due to my charging cable falling out easily, I had a go with a plastic toothpick. Wow! I am totally stunned at how much fluff has built up. Now the cable clicks home nicely and I can even hang the phone upside down by the cable it is so secure! Thank you
Ok, you are the best. Seriously. Last time this happened I figured it was pocket lent that was fouling my charger from snapping in. But that time I used a metal pin. Bad idea. My phone totally stopped working. Since watching your video I got a plastic tooth pick. It was still too thick to fit into the port so I got a really sharp knife and cut the plastic tooth pick into a really small needle. This did the trick. I started poking inside the port. What I noticed is that just as I was about to give up, thinking there was no lent in there, out popped this massive chunk of almost solid lent. No wonder my charger wouldn't snap into place. A tip I would advise is this... For me the lent was not either on the top or bottom of the 'tongue' connection. It was actually packed tightly around the edges of the 'tongue' (if that makes sense). Anyway, I owe you bro for posting this video. Very much appreciated. You saved me a lot.
Thanks, bud! I was looking for a repair place to take my Pixel 2 XL to fix the exact same problem you're showing us to fix. I tried it and now my phone is charging like a charm...thanks again. 😊
I just solved my charging issues with only 3 materials #1 a magnifying glass, #2 a flash light and #3 a plastic dental floss pick. If you put the magnifying glass near the charge port you can "EASILY" see the lint and other debris stuck inside it and I cleaned it out with the sharp skinny end of a dental floss pick. This method worked like a charm in terms of pulling all that lint and other stuff that may be stuck in there. Before I cleaned it out I was experiencing a really slow charge, I switched out different cords and chargers but once I implemented the 3 steps that I shared... problem solved! Right on! Thanks!
Thank you so much for doing this video!!! You save me a lot of time , money , and aggravation!!!! I used a small plastic tooth flosser ,and it worked great!!!!! Thanks again!!!!!
It worked perfectly with a toothpick.....small piece of sand came out I have been working in yard with my phone I knew it had sand in it and it came out and now it is charging!! Thank-you soooooo very much!!!!
Great video. I used a cable tie for cleaning. Another commenter mentioned a toothpick which I wish I'd thought of. One other point is to work people not blow into the port, either pick the dirt out, shake and use gravity, or buy an air-duster
Hey! Your awesome! I did what you suggested using the prong from a plastic fork and it worked like a charm. So glad you said not to use metal, as I was originally thinking I'd use a needle before I saw your explanation.... excellent video. Thank you so much!
Since you asked for feedback. Try a straw attached to vacuum cleaner hose with your hand channeling the suction just througih the straw. And with your other hand you may flatten the contact end to shape the entry. It's an amazing way to get dirt and lint out of small spaces like computer ports, computer fans, computer keyboards even musical keyboards. Thanks for producing and sharing the video. (The suctioning is so focused you could take care of the dirt underneath the fingernails)
Took a Snapple bottle, carved a rigid triangle and dug out dirt and lint and now my battery lasts longer and the connector pins are still going strong, for the longest time I thought my phone was broken because the connector in the charger was wobbly.
Thanx for the idea! I had tried a tooth pick but it was too thick for my type-C port, it was bending the chip in the center and I worried I might snap it off. Though I didn't have a plastic propeller around, I did have a thin guitar pick which I cut down to fit and voila, charging like new! Don't know if I'd thought of that without your video, thanks again!

How would you do it if it's dirt instead?
Melanie Caverly I'd start by scraping inside the port with a plastic tool like I did in the video, then use compressed air to blow the loose dirt out.
Thank you for ur comment 😎✌

Tooth flosser brush
Long handled ones
Any suggestions what I could use to clean out
use a coffee straw. flat the end pretty high up. and cut a 45 angle on it. you can also blow out the port with the straw
your video inspired me to take it another step further
Nice! I appreciate the video man.
CLEAN!
Bamboo toothpicks are good tools
Paper Q-Tip sticks cut in half
flattened to fit port.
Clear Ammonia
Denatured Alcohol
Find a Snug fitting USB cord.

A way to avoid the problem , is to use magnetic charging adaptors. They stay plugged in and stop lint altogether.
Due to you my charger stays put again, thank you very much!
