You guys should never have to issue a "headphone user warning" if you're doing proper sound leveling during editing. Just saying... That's simple video editing 101 stuff.
The presenter issued the headphone warning and I was reaching for my headphones thinking it was going to be pure engine sounds. The music started and I put my headphones down. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!
There are two engines that REALLY get my ears ringing in the best possible way when I hear them... those are; an F1 V10 and the Mazda R26B Both engines are the absolute pinnacle of glorious rackets if y'ask me.
Difference between 8000 and 21k rpm is quite a lot though, would be cool if they made variants of the 5L V10 with different top rpms. Would love to see a 15k rpm version for instance.
F1 teams used to do their aero and gearing tests prior to races at the old Hock circuit at Keevil airfield in Wiltshire. Williams, Renault and Beneton all tested there in the 90's. The engine noise could be heard miles away, and those of us who recognised a V10 F1 engine when we heard it would be there pronto. I lived practically nextdoor to the airfield, and was present for all the tests. At one of the Williams tests the driver was some guy called Juan Pablo Montoya, a F3000 driver at the time... Thanks, nice video.
I have a V10 in one of my trucks that runs perfect with nearly 285k on it. Doesn't bother me that it gets between 8 and 10mpg no matter what is going on. Pulling a boat, hauling firewood, or helping a friend move out of their rented apartment in the middle of the night, it is going to guzzle gas like fratboys shotgun beer during pledge time. Or any other routine day when they should be studying.
Fire the editor for putting music over the V10 sound section. Seriously, fire him and have him require to put “loud music over important sections” on his Resume. Ffs what a disappointment
I'm currently building a Rx8 with a V10 Judd engine, will be paired with a quaife sequential. Car's currently running a 13b semi peripheral port, a bridge port with extended porting made by PAC Performance. Also planning on buying the Rx8 Pandem Aero body kit (Rocket Bunny) You'll guys hopefully see it at some time attack events and street rally's here in Australia.
The moment that engine started raving up I had goose bumps instantly. Only other race engine I did get goose bumps with was the BRM V16 Supercharged 1,5 liter engine from 1953 screaming at over 10.000 revs
I remember years ago, a sports car magazine had an article about the BRM V16 and there was one of those flimsy vinyl record singles included, with sounds of that engine. I listened to it many, many times.
I was at the New Years Eve Adelaide Le Mans Asia Pacific race on the F1 (slightly modified) circuit, and there were only a handful of Judd engines LMP vehicles, but as stated, they were by far the most aggressive and loudest cars of the weekend. A particular all white tail end runner was so loud that the whole Pit straight would reverberate to an almost painful level whenever it streaked past. I was a fan from that moment onwards.
It's not the same sound of an F1 3ltr V-10 from an F2004 pulling 940bhp at 19k rpm. EARGASMIC!!! Unfortunately, F1 currently (2014 thru current) is going more "green" and fuel efficient.
. . . and the largest displacement engine available (until recently) was also a V10, the 8.4L Viper ACR deserves an honorable mention just for being so beastly and also for it’s appearances at Le Mans. 🇺🇸
gs faz I would guess that in normal traffic it would not last 1500 miles. These engines are not designed for daily use. Mercedes is working on it for years to get an F1 derived V6 engine as an “daily user” car in their project one. Still haven’t got all the troubleshooting done
Considering at 4:30 there is a clip of the 787B a tri-rotor engine. IMO that sounds better than any v10. Though I have no idea why that clip was added to this video about v10's... That clip also has no music over the top of it... I appreciate the editor of this video is probably a rotor fan but you had a job to do, to show off the v10!!! This needs a re-edit to do Judd justice to their engine!!
@@7sins979 old comment but i just had to say this, that is absolutely NOT the 787b, at all. Its barely even a mazda at all, its a MXR-01, which is essentially a rebodied Jaguar XJR-14 fitted with a 3.5l v10 engine. Not to mention it sounds pretty different to the 4 rotor found in the 787b
I want a small high revving inline 6, something like a 2.0-2.4L that can rev to 10k RPM no problem and perhaps a 10.6-10.8K RPM redline in a car(sedan/coupe preferably) that weighs less than 1000kg/2200lbs. I think this would be fun and relatively affordable.

I recall being at 1992 Le Mans saturday night, in the rain at Tertre Rouge, in t shirt n shorts (i'd travelled up from the South in heatwave conditions) the Peugeot, Toyota and Mazda V10's belching out great gobs of flame crackling from side exit exhausts as they changed down. Just a brief warming on me then they cannoned down the Mulsanne straight, rev limiter in each gear. Anyone here been in the same place (or similar) will know what I mean. But, looking at the linked pictures the body, roof scoop and rear wing it definitely appears to be the MXR-01. I wonder if the sound was edited prior to the editor getting the clip. Also, while everyone is complaining about the editor and the music drowning out the engine sounds the editor could have realized that there would be confusion about the 787B, or any of the cars and could have put in text saying what each car was. I kinda get the impression that the editor may not in fact know much about cars.

787B, I've seen that clip before, it was the le man winning car... It also didn't have music over it... The tri-rotor has a distinct sound that I am a fan of but it shouldn't have been in a v10 video
