Nobody is getting the final scene when Visery is talking about a future vision prophecy that is passed down from King to King, theories say is Brann from the future. Jon Snow Targaryen name is also Aegon, who ended the war of Fire and Ice by killing Dany. That is the Aegon he is referring to but Allicent thinks it is her son Aegon. I love the show but I am starting to notice all the bad things happen to the black characters.
I think that Aemon wants to go up against his Uncle Daemon. I believe his uncle has been his _secret HERO_ and what he believes to be a 'True Dragon'! Only Daemon has the 'balls' to do what he did in court today. Though I think Daemon has become more SUBDUED with AGE and has matured more than we know. He's not as RECKLESS as he was when he was young. He no longer needs his big brother's acceptance of him.
@@Delboy0 I get your point on the black characters, but this is what happens to the Velaryons in the book so it was the decision to cast the house with black actors that meant this would be the case. One reason for this could have been to mark a distinction between the two remaining Valarian houses, and highlight even more how Rhae's kids do not look like her or Laenor. Bran is not the promised prince (well George may write it that way) but in the show it was Jon and Dani together that brought together the realm.

@@LaCheeserie I know this happened in the books but it looks bad if you cast the downtrodden family in the books as Black. And even the show runners recognised this as looking bad so changed from the books that Laenor died and in the show they let him live. Also I never said Brann was the prince that was promised I said he was probably the person who gave the previous Kings the visions and prophecy as he can go back in time and speak to people as shown in the Game Of Throne. It is also a theory that Bran went back in time and helped build the wall in the past to prevent the white walkers as the create of the wall was called bran the builder.
King Viserys thought he was talking to Rhaenyra when he was actually talking to Alicent before he died. That’s why he was talking about Aegon’s dream of the song of ice and fire, which has been secretly passed from king to heir for generations. Y’all seemed to be confused during that scene.

Paddy Considine deserves an emmy for that stellar performance, he had me in tears from the moment he walked into the throne room until his last breath.
Definitely one of the most badass moments in either of these shows. The GOAT.

When the crown dropped off his head, that actually wasn't scripted. The crown accidentally dropped off and then Matt Smith picked it up and they just ran with it, and it ended up being the best cut.
Agreed, I was in my feelings when he walked in the throne room to defend his daughter and her son's.

although people said he was weak. He was a good king and a good man in my opinion who loves his family and peace in the kingdom. In this episode was great, respect to the actor.

When Viserys was tested at his physically weakest of times, he has proved to have been at his strongest hour. He was not a great king, but also by no means no means among the worst. In the end he was a good good man and a devoted father to Rhaenyra. He rode the largest dragon of Westeros and then carried the franchise back to glory.
And we didn't get to see him ride it a single time, I would have loved that in his last seconds or days we saw him dreaming of the first time he rode Balerion, it would have made the fans respect him even more.
Raising my cups for him carrying the franchise back to glory!

There is a point where you have to acknowledge outside factors that shape the lives of your people, despite what you do. It's very obvious Viserys tried to raise/rule his family/people but he couldn't control the conniving individuals that took advantage of his good nature.

As for Ned, if he just refused Robert most of the issues could have been avoided. But Ned went anyways and revealed the truth because that's who Ned is. With that in mind, do you blame Ned or the people that actually started the problems that he failed to forsee?

@@mannylugz5872 Not really, he intentionally made moves he knew would make Visery's angry, such as the premarital sex with Rhaenyra, stealing the egg and starting a war in the Step Stones without the crowns approval, it wasn't just Otto in Viserys ear, Daemon did these things out of spite and need for recognition.
Rhaenys is older than Viserys yet her and Otto are healthy as fuck.
It was improvised by Matt too. He wasn't supposed to go and help the King but it makes the scene all the more better for it!

I personally think this episode is the best one yet. Like......dragons are sweet AF. But Visery's walk to his throne was effing POWERFUL. I felt so many emotions during that scene. Like my man really pushed himself past his limits, all for the love of his daughter and family. In the moment where his body was the weakest, he showed his greatest strength. I gotta pour a shot for my man Vissy T. He was a good man born in the wrong time and place.
(also Paddy Considine deserves at least an Emmy Nomination for all of this. Man really acted his heart out)

King Viserys finally showed some strength in the weakest point of his life🔥
Strength? He stole the driftwood throne and is trying to legitimize bastards. He refuses to acknowledge that his daughter is a whore and a political wild card. She is irresponsible, has no respect for the throne or her duties and blatantly abuses her power as heir to the throne to indulge in whatever she wants even if it directly impacts the throne.
Paddy’s performance as King Viserys was some of the greatest and most captivating acting I’ve seen on TV since the likes of Bryan Cranston as Walter White or James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano. Yet Paddy and his role here is somehow more impressive cause he only had 8 episodes to convey to us his interpretation of King Viserys.
Gotta wonder with how fast Alicent was with the cash and tea, this must be a regular thing with Aegon

Everyone and their mom has said those things about Rhaenyra, it's not like he was the first ever, he went out sad imo, maybe if this was the first time someone ever questioned the kids legitimacy publicly he'd look better for this but he essentially died for something Aegon, Aemond and Alicent have already said publicly with no repercussions.
Also he was right about saying it's his house and he should rule it as he wants. He is also the only one that could continue the Valyrion line. But he was always too volatile and that cost him. He should have shut up, go home and start a war to get the Driftmark Throne.
What they were going for in that last scene was Alicent was willing to let things go based on a lot of things that happened that day + she doesn't believe in Aegon as king since he's a disappointment to her. She never heard the song of ice and fire before so she was only picking out Aegon and how he will unite the realm. There could be genuine confusion (which seems to be what the writers are going for) or she is being willfully strategic.
It's exactly that. Alicent is not just this evil person people make her out to be. Daemon has done things way way worse than Alicent. For the moment though. When war breaks out who knows what everyone will do.
It's definitely genuine confusion. And they primed her to be more spiritual in this episode by making her religious. She's very apt at this point to believe that Aegon is meant to rule. even if she herself cannot see it.

Alicent seemed genunie with the toast to Rhaenyra and seemed she was willing to look past their differences. The last part of this episode was Viserys thinking he was talking to Rhaenyra and its definitely done that way to confuse Alicent cause in the preview for ep 9 Viserys is dead and Alicent said "He told me he wished for Aegon to be King"

The dinner was a perfect way to show that even if the adults can sort through their problems with eachother, it won't even matter because they've poisened their childrens minds against eachother.

Paddy Constantine’s acting throughout this season is phenomenal. Viserys’ enter to the throne room was hard to watch, I just wanted the old king to smile, be happy with his family. The second I thought everything will be okay for awhile, Alicent misunderstood the king’s dying words. Such a shame…
And sadly it isn't really her fault to misunderstand. She doesn't know about the Song of Ice and Fire and because this people use the same names for everyone she thinks the Aegon Viserys meant was their son lol.

Ya, if you recall, Corlyss & Rhaenys discussed succession in the previous episode, in front of the fireplace. Rhaenys wanted to move succession to their daughter's children, and Corlyss wanted it to stay with their son's children, bio or not. I got the impression Vaemond was conspiring with Otto & Alicent, and they thought their plan was a done deal until Viserys hobbled in. Those panicked gazes...

The dinner scene is a masterclass of melancholy in simplicity. Viserys watching the kids in a last dance before the Dance. Last fleeting moment of bliss. Everyone hoping for the best, expecting the worst. For something so uneventfully peaceful, the passing was one of the most foreboding, emotive & viscerally filmed deaths I've seen. Book Viserys also doses off to the great beyond in his bed, after telling stories to grandkids. The man who was most dissimilar to Aegon the Conqueror in life ends up being most similar to the Conqueror in death.
Enough jokes. Now the serious stuff. "You're no son of mine" - Alicent getting crossbowed in the loo on mother's day confirmed. "Viserys wearing gold dragon instead of red” - Viserys secret Green Chad confirmed. Ep 9 titled The Green Council😱!! The seizure😱!! Cue Hoes Mad music😤!! Our religion, tradition & patriarchy upholder Queen Mother & our redpiled King will make Westeros great again🙃/s
Vaemond just wanted his own ambitious to rise. Betrothing Rhaenrya’s kids with Laena’s fixes all his Velaryon worries. The kids of Luke and Rhaena would have the name Velaryon from their father and Velaryon blood from their mother. He just wanted power for himself

The last episode Aemond looked about 12 and the older Strong boy looked 9. Now Aemond looks 35 and the older Strong boy looks 16. lol I mean I get it they want Aemond to look like Daemon but the jump is a little bit far fetched.

I agree this was the best episode...for me, GOT is not about dragons and battles...or plot twists, but character development and political intrigue. Here, we can finally see Viserys standing up for himself and his family...he has always avoided confrontation and allowed people to walk all over him. Now he finally roared as a dragon and became the king he always wanted to be even if he was about to die

Powerful episode! In the books Admend is described as looking older than the rest of his siblings. Rhaenyra's son most likely laughed at Aemond at the dinner table because of that roasted pig laid in front of him! 🤣 Remember the pig prank on Aemond from episode 6? 😉
Vaemond forgot that Rhaenyra is also descended from the Velaryons, because Aenys I Targaryen who was the son of Aegon I The Conqueror Targaryen and Queen Rhaenys Targaryen Aegon I's sister wife married Alyssa Velaryon. Aenys and Alyssa had 6 children, among them Jahaerys and Alyssane who got married and had children, the two children Baelon and Alyssa had Viserys and Daemon and one of Jahaerys and Alyssane's children ended up marrying an Arryn and from there Aemma Arryn was born Rhaenyra's mother who eventually ended up marrying Viserys and in that marriage Rhaenyra was born. So Rhaenyra also has Velaryon descent.

In a real way, the situation was unfair to Vaemond but, like the guy in the yellow sweatshirt said, who inherits Driftmark is a subject he should have hashed out with CORLYS years ago because Corlys always did want Luke to inherit. Although I don’t necessarily agree with his thinking - giving the House to an illegitimate grandson over a legitimate brother - the Driftwood throne is his to give. He should have tried to get Corlys to change his mind before he left to fight in the Stepstones.
If Vaemond had been smart, he would have backed Rhaenys’ idea to make Baela the heir and then he should have tried to marry Baela the way Daemon married Rhaenyra. Then, there would be two legitimate Velaryons heading Driftmark and there’s no problem.

I think y'all are forgetting that Vaemond is also supplanting Laena's daughters by petitioning himself as the heir to Driftmark. Even if we accept the premise that Rhaenyra's sons are bastards and should not inherit Driftmark as Velaryons, technically, Rhaena and Baella still have a stronger claim than Vaemond. If Rhaena and Baella marry Rhaenyra's sons, they will have the name Velaryon again, and their heirs will be Velaryons in name and blood too. So, they didn't really do the Velaryons dirty. Vaemond was definitely more concerned with his ambitions than carrying on the Velaryon line.

Viserys was out of it in his final moments. He was answering Rhaenyra's question from earlier about whether he really believed the prophecy. Alicent doesn't know anything about it. She thinks he's saying their son Aegon must be the one to unite the realm.

That guy Vaemond really did it to himself, and he only was saying that because the king was in a weak state. His brother had already made the decision on making one of Rhaenyra's sons take control if driftmark. The decision was done and over it but he was power hunger and wanted it for himself. Not that he wasn't speaking the truth of the right blood tides to driftmark, however they already made the choice on making the youngest son have control of it. As for Alicent she did a horrible job raising her kids, it's like Joffey all over again. Used to go around talking trash about Rhaenyra's sons, that their savages. Yet you have one son that's a drunk rapist and the other a psycho. At least the daughter is only kid she had that turn out decent. And I don't want to hear anyone defending on what Aegon did, that was disgusting and garbage. And that's on Alicent, she raised them to be spoil brats. It's very clear whose offspring is right in the head, I just hope Rhaenyra's kids have what it takes to go against them. Because now with the king dead all bets are off. The king was the only thing keeping them steady, now after that the peace is over, following chaos.
Corlys also knew Rhaenyras sons werent Laenors and went through with it anyway. He wanted the Velaryon name to survive and it would have with Lucerys inheriting Driftmark. It was Vaemonds greed (hes a second son so essentially nothing) that did him in. The only people who care about the blood of Rhaenyras children are the Greens, everyone else knows but dont care

Vaemond was foolish Laena and Daemon's daughter was going to be married to Jace, and producing Velaryons heirs in no time, the blood of the Velaryons and with Targaryens blood added as well would be a lot of the blood of Old Valyria remaining in their house. Vaemond wanted Driftmark himself and tried to overstep and paid the price.
That's not how it works. Lineage is traced through the males of the family, which is why having sons is so important. In theory, Vaemond could trace his blood all the way back to Valyria, THROUGH THE FATHERS. This is very important because that's what makes Vaemond a trueborn Velaryon. Whatever kids Jace and them have wouldn't be trueborn Velaryons and wouldn't be able to trace their lineage back because there's a strong in the mix now. He was absolutely correct in saying that per law Driftmark is his and that his line would end if they gave it to Jace's brother. Sure, there would be Velaryon's around with some Velaryon blood, but they aren't trueborn anymore.

A non Velaryon would only sit the driftwood throne until Luke passed and his heir took up the throne. He was going to marry Daemon and Laena's daughter. Laena is a true Valaryon. His family lineage and bloodline would have continued with the same name and blood. He should have let it go but he was overly proud and ambitious

An any "Velaryon's" that sit on driftmark would have that stigma. So if someone down the line had trueborn lineage dating back to whoever owned driftmark prior to the Velaryon's, they could stake a claim that it should be returned based on Jace and Luke. Depending on the King's mood and attitude towards any current Velaryons, they may decide to give the land/castle/title back. Vaemond shouldn't have done what he did, but he isn't wrong that this is a huge stain on his house.
Whoever was behind the direction, effects, and writing of Viserys's health deterioration has seen what it's like. That first scene in his bed to the end was uncomfortably realistic and reminded me of seeing my grandmother passing.

The Song of Ice and Fire is a sort've prophecy. A dream that the original Aegon had. A prophecy of someone uniting the realms. Viserys thought he was speaking to his daughter Rhaenyra, but obviously he was speaking to Alicent. Viserys was telling her it is Aegon, Rhaenyra's Aegon, that he saw in the prophecy. Alicent most likely misinterpreted that as him saying their son Aegon is meant to rule. Alicent and Rhaenyra actually did make peace at the dinner, but their kids don't get along. Not to mention Viserys last words will most likely cause Alicent to attempt to put her son on the throne. Props to Viserys for using his last energy to defend his daughter and attempt to bring his family together.

Viserys walking through the throne room was such a powerful scene, and Paddy Considine performance gave me goosebumps. He has been excellent all season and he still outdid himself this episode.

This episode was great but it made me so sad. RIP to Viserys, I love the way he got out of bed to walk to the throne to defend his daughter and her children, it was a touching moment and it was sweet to see Daemon help his brother up the stairs and hand him his crown. Vaemond deserved what he got, it was great to see Daemon defend his wife. The dinner scene was great and sad, the speeches given by Viserys and Rhaenyra we're touching and everyone was happy for a moment until the bitch Aemond One Eye pulled his shit but I blame Alicent because she spent years teaching her kids to hate their half sister and their nephews.

Remember when they were younger they gave Aemond the “Pink Dread” as a prank because he didn’t have a dragon yet. The pig was a call back to a time in his life when he was looked down on by his family and he snapped
The final conversation between Viserys and Alicent is so important for what is to come next. Earlier, Rhaenyra went to Viserys asking him if he believes the prophecy that is the song of ice and fire and that she feels that she's not fit or even wants the Iron Throne. So in the end, Viserys thinks he's talking to Rhaenyra when he says that 'you should be the one to unite our people.' Alicent then thinks that he meant their son Aegon should be King. A miscommunication that will bring forth war.

Velaryon blood will still be in Driftmark once the boys marry the girls cause the girls have the blood. So their children will not only have their blood but also the name Velaryon so it does work out for Driftmark in that sense

According to the books, the rumour was that Alicent was slowly poisoning King Viserys. It could be implied when Daemon was smelling the "tea cup", and Alicent looked guilty when Rhaenyra was raising a toast to her at supper. Also, this episode proved that all Viserys cared about was Rhaenyra's happiness, especially since the death of his wife Aemma.
I know the poisoning was one theory but Viserys, at least here in the show, had signs of his disease long before he ever married Alicent. So, he was dying anyway. Besides, I don’t know what poison takes sixteen years to work. At that point, the poison isn’t any quicker than old age would be.
