Making a two part alginate mold and casting with plaster

A simple two part alginate mold and casting process! Mixing alginate is usually 2 parts alginate to 3 parts water, spring water gives better results than tap water and adding the powder the to water also offers better results. Using cold water gives more pot life (5 mins) and warm water will result in shorter pot life (1-2 mins). Alginate usually hardens and shrinks after a few hours and the mold can only be used once before the alginate hardens and shrinks. Cast right away for best results.

cardboard
duct tape
razor or scissors
glue gun and glue
alginate powder
plaster of paris
mixing container
water
