Kenny does a fabulous job on this beauty & all his songs. "Through the years' is another beautiful love song, especially fora married couples & longtime partners. Lionel Richie wrote it & also released it. Both versions are great & you can find them singing it together too. My favorite version is the one they did together at a Country music awards show, before Kenny passed away. The love between them was a beautiful thing to see & Kenny also tells the story of Lionel writing it & it's funny. Kenny also has great 'story telling' songs like ''The Gambler', 'Coward of the county' and 'Lucille'.
It was not an awards show they performed at. It was a concert for Lionel Richie in 2013 to celebrate the release of 'Tuskegee' an album of country artists singing his songs with him. It's the best performance of the two of them together! They aired it on CBS... I still have the whole concert on my Tivo!
I was BLESSED to see Kenny in concert 6 times...when this song came out he was married to Marianne and he sang this song, while showing a video of the birth of his son, Christopher! It was AMAZING!! NOW, you MUST watch the video of him Lionel LIVE performing this song. You get the background of it too. They actually co-wrote this song. Kenny and Lionel were best friends for many years!! ❤

Great reaction! I think most women swoon over this song, but i love seeing men enjoy this too. I was 10 when this song came out and I was already a huge Kenny fan. He was so charismatic and charming but not arrogant. They called him the Silver Fox, and women would throw their panties on stage 😂. He crossed genres and age gaps! No auto tune, just pure talent!

Just found your channel. Kenny and Lionel had one of the strongest love and friendships there can be between two people. Lionel also recorded this song and so did Teddy Pendergrass but both have said that Kenny was the only one that could give it that something special that people felt.

I'm not hip to all the new music ...but it seem romance is gone and replaced with sex in songs. also, singers are focused on technique and not from the heart. Kenny singing from his heart.
His most recent and last wife is from my old hometown. He was (I guess) in his 60s or so and she was in her 20s. He built her parents a new house not far from where we lived. But I certainly don’t blame her for grabbing him up!! I’ve always thought he was an amazing artist as well as a genuinely good man!! Not to mention, he was so hot no matter how old he was!!
