- An impressive spectrum of emotional registers, coloraturas at breakneck speed and a stratospherically high F. Mozart really did go all out for the Queen of the Night’s entrance in Die Zauberflöte. Her grand aria ‘O zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn” is a technical challenge unlike any other. In our 2018 production, Soprano Sabine Devieilhe gave everyone goosebumps with this soul-wrenching mother’s lament. She will soon take the stage at La Monnaie again for a recital dedicated to French mélodies.

Is no one noticing how absolutely gorgeous her costume is? It looks so majestic, especially for a character like the Queen of the Night.
You should see her costume for her second aria, poor thing. The Queen of the night with a black T-shirt and trousers, moving furniture. Very strange production.

I bet her costume is gonna turn black at der hölle Rache
she looks like the Vogue Madonna
What's that thing on her chest though?
In addition to the wonderful melody and the sweet and beautiful voice... This is the most beautiful dress that a Queen of the Night has ever worn in a performance of "Die Zauberflöte" Simply Magnificent!!! Sabine Shined in this performance!!! 🤍🌙
Sehr schön.
German song, French inspired outfit. Good collab. Great
She needs an award for holding up that headress
The first time I heard this was a recording of Lucia Popp, so she is my ultimate favorite and the benchmark to which I compare all others. I do really love Sabine a lot…I’d love to see her live!
Sabine incredible singer, incredible actress, perfection. Merci!!!
Sabine, the best of our days.
Her voice reminds me of Emma Shapplin's voice. I love them both because they're so powerfull that it heals your body and soul.
@@Jimfernus For an opera singer, your post is an insult.
This is inhuman. Sabine is a phenomenal talent and a gift to the world.
Tellement beau ! Bravo Sabine.
She is stunning.
Interprétation parfaite🎉
This was such a bizarre production. Still not sure what to think of it lol
Those costumes! Amazing. Such a beautiful voice. Thanks for posting
Absolutely incredible. Sabine is simply out of this world.
Oh, you should really listen to some old renditions of the aria...
You should listen to a soprano who can properly trill and is a dramatic coloratura
@@crazyorganist1609 like who, for instance?
She just charmed me, I can listen to this non stop whole day long !!!
"It is my profound conviction that Mozart is the highest, the culminating point which beauty has reached in the sphere of music. Nobody has made me cry and thrill with joy, sensing my proximity to something that we call the ideal, in the way that he has…" (Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky)
I feel the same way. ❤
Same here (a sentiment we apparently share with Pope Benedict)
Sublime. Perfection. For all eternity.
How beautiful, it sounds amazing to me, I love her personality and how she tackled this virtuous aria, despite the high degree of constriction, and almost inexistent trills.
I REALLY LIKE HER COSTUME!!
I was hoping she gets better lighting. Such beautiful singer!
every opera i’ve seen her in has the most beautiful staging and costuming i have ever witnessed. fit for such a wonderful voice
Danke schön, Sabine.
Sabine Devieilhe always gets me amazed.
Magnifique ! 🌟🌟🌟
When the voice is so gorgeous, you hardly notice the dress and the staging. All your focus is on her.
Mozart..! Everything makes sense 🍷
Wow! Stunning performance😱😍
Thanks a lot 😊
Best rendition, wonderful articulation, sublime....Peculiar staging, loved this.
Néha a bosszút-esküvő gonosz lélekkel is együtt tudok érezni... Gyönyörűen énekli...
The Queen of the Night seems like the White Witch of "The Chronicles of Narnia" lol
Besides everything obvious that has been mentioned already, I admire her perfect pronunciation! That is so difficult!
Magical Powers !
She is undoubtedly the finest soprano that ever lived! Perfect.
Amazing!
Wow!!! Love this...
Thank you!!
Everything about this is heavenly 😻
Amazing !!
Cudeńko!💐
wow!
Bravissima !!!!👏💐👏💖
Good versión 👍
The best
fire track homie keep up dawg on the gang
3:22 ♥️♥️♥️
Is this from the production with the baroque act1 and jumpsuit act2?
Wtf? 🤣🤣🤣
This is 2 years old at this point? She should have a major career by now, if anyone’s got common sense. Terrific singing. I assume this is some classic Castellucci vibes, given the hard boiled human eggs on the lazy susan centre stage. It is beautiful, even if I have no bloody idea what the hell is going on 😂
Brava
♡
That wouldn't be bad for a province theatre...
Tecnicamente imbattibile.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
is this work -video recorded an out for sale please advise
Dear Antonio, unfortunately this production has not been released on DVD. Have a nice day.
La Monnaie De Munt Thank you hoping that it will eventually happen

Empress Marie Therese?
Jennifer Saunders in Let Them Eat Cake vibes…
Why are the tic-tacs giving birth?
3:36
nice and neat coloratura despite the mediocre trills
Its passable tho
Certainly beautiful to look at, but anybody who knows the story of Magic Flute would not stage sets and costumes like this.
Limpia y dramática
Yeah i hear that, especially when i already heard her sing this perfectly in another performance (the one in Lyon where she wears an onion head dress).
It’s so easy to criticize that I’d love to see you performing the same area on stage. You must be pretty good, right? Show what you got and teach her how it should be done.
@@abogadocvelasco lol bullshit you don't need to be coloratura soprano to see how bad she is
@@iacobellus I’m not justifying her I just want to see how good you are. Why did you respond “bullshit”? how’s that related with you and your performance? Or you just say but you don’t sing?
@@abogadocvelasco I think it's silly to believe that only singers can give judgments about other singers lol
so what you say is total bullshit
Diana Damrau. Not only does she have an incredible voice she also has stage presence. She just doesn’t stand there and sing. She sings and acts with emotion and truly sucks you in.
Her voice was not up to par with her acting for this aria lol especially compared to this one
😂😂😂
?
lool
Does the back of the screen look like a woman's pelvic bone?
Are those two amoebas moving around?
Beautiful. Her diction could use a little work.
Do you think so? I could understand absolutely everything she said, and I was particularly impressed by it. :)
@@annapimentel4412 Yeah. It's not just about being understandable. She's native French and actually the way she pronounces French pieces doesn't sound classical either.
@@elmaestro91 I understand what you mean, but is that a bad thing? Cause the message actually passes through so well the way she doest it. Even better in that regard from others I've heard. I understand as well that both our opinions can be a matter of taste.
Are you a native German speaker? I was wondering who you are comparing her to. I am actually a German mother tongue and I had absolutely no difficulty whatsoever understanding her German. I think also that her work on the line is so outstanding, that the message is conveyed by all the other means Mozart and his librettist intended.
@@hannagarcialanda4167 I am not. As I mentioned previously, it's not just about being understood. There's a certain style of diction used on the opera stage. The main culprits are her -ch/ig and -hr sounds. Perfectly fine for speaking in some regions but not used that way on the stage.
I still don't think this is the role for her
The naked people coming out of the cocoons really distracts from the solo. Very bad staging for a solo.
It's just depressing that this is considered good singing today. Just look at all the tensions in her face and on her neck.
I'd like to see you go up against her. Stop trolling
@@deannachurch4911 I’d like you to go up against her. Stop being illogical.
@@deannachurch4911 you can't stop haters unfortunately...
Ugh. I bet you’re a Callas follower to boot. Troll.
@@jdaveyw If you mean to imply that she would be one of my favourites, you are very, very wrong.
