That's the most fun way of using them in BF. I usually get a bipod if it doesn't have one and just rain bullets on ennemies 300 meters away. Yeah it shouldn't play like an AR. Although you should still be able to use the sights while standing on most LMGs, idk how it is on BFV, maybe it's just the MG42.

I hope they bring back lot of mechanics that were in this game to the next game. Fortifications was awesome. Gunplay was probably some of the best. Squad call ins was awesome. Controversial, but I loved the vehicle enter and exit animations, it made it more of a commitment when using vehicles, and can’t just bail instantly to cheat someone out of a kill they earned. Also the attrition was kind of cool it made it a bit more hardcore, maybe not implemented the best way they coulda, at times it was just kinda annoying but they were on right track with it.
The vehicule animations are a controversial topic ? I find them great. It's more immersive and you don't have to guess where the guy teleported to when he gets out of his vehicule (and ultimately kills you because of it even though you were the one deserving the kill).
Fortifications were seriously so rewarding. I honestly thought the soldier and gun customization was the worst yet. Everything about them were just ugly and there was 0 variety. And the worst part, all of it was behind pay wall. I clocked so many hours on that game and got maybe a few basic gun camos and soldier outfits.
The MAG58 we designed in the 50’s 🇧🇪 is also based it. The pawl mechanism to load the rounds on the M60 and minimi’s (M249, M240) is the same as the MG42. It was a excellent and advanced design for sure.

If you think that's a fast rate of fire, the MG45 was meant to be its direct replacement and reached up to 1,800 rounds per minute. Fortunately for the Allies, it never left prototyping and only ten were ever built.
I genuinely miss BFV's destruction, movement and gun play. Might be an unpopular opinion, but it all just felt fluid and right. Take that into the next BF game. omg, id be thrilled. (With tweaks where tweaks are needed ofc)
BF5 was insanely underrated! If they would have just ported modern weapons, equipment, and vehicles into the into the BF5 engine to make a new game, it would have been INCREDIBLE.
Great gun but had a huge caveat after 150 rounds of constant fire the barrel would over heat and had to be change this rendered the gun in operable for an amount of time the barrel changer also wore protective asbestos gloves which were cumbersome and made the changing of the barrel even harder, its other caveat was you needed a lot of ammo as it would just rip through ammo like there was no end to it. The German military were disappointed and were advised against sustained rates of fire and ordered to use it in only 3 to 7 round bursts so whilst the reported rate of fire was 1220 rounds per minute its actual rate of fire was 154 rounds per minute due to barrel overheating issues and shortage of ammo.
The thriller music at the end was hilariously cinematic. It felt like the game planned that exact sequence of events to happen. I was as confused as you lol

They have the mechanics nailed so well. The rigging is done splendidly. They keep those files and only if they develop them further and we will have a mind-blowing new Battlefield 2025-26?
Jack, I don’t know if you know this but a modernized version of the MG-42 is still in service with the German Army (the Bundeswehr) to this day, known as the MG3; that’s how classically timeless the design of this weapon is…Also, I don’t know of another weapon in any game that embodies the ideal of Hold Mouse1 like this gun does. It’s soo easy it’s like a point-and-click adventure game from the 90’s. lol
I was just already burnt out on BF1, so after awhile playing BF5 I went back to BF4 for a spell then switched to COD and 2042 back and forth. Exasperating! lol
@@TheModeRed yeah, imo they should've gone modern/close to modern after Bf1, then do WW2. feel like that wouldve gone over better, although i do like a lot of the stuff BFV introduced like building, MMGs, attrition (tho i still think they need to tone that down from where its at currently in BFV),
In battlefield I agree with the title somewhat because in hell let loose there's nothing more frightening then a mg42 laid down mowing down your entire squad in 3 seconds

In 1998-99 they were the earliest days to play live with developers of ( Day of Defeat Mod 1.2) for Half-life and we played on servers against every developer at once, all the guys that made the guns and sounds and everything. Hi Jack, it would be cool to see your gameplay in BF 4 with a MTAR type gun, that would be cool! Oh yeah, they removed all the DLC and player progress!
Recently tried some agressive games with the VGO and it surprised me how effective the fast firing MMG are. It does take some getting used to, but if you do the 'shoot 'n' scoot' tactic like this video kinda shows, you can do very well with the MMGs.
Fun fact: what it was first introduced, the MG42 had an issue where because it fired so fast, it would actually fire out of battery, so to fix this, the desires of the weapon lowered the cyclic rate.
Having carried the MG3, a successor of the MG42, including a shoulder case with an extra barrel, it's quite hilarious to see at which speed the player moves when carrying the MG42. You don't exactly *run* when carrying a heavy weapon like that. You also need to have ammo belts readily available. That's why using this weapon is primarily a two-man job, because loading the belts and changing the barrel is done by your partner. So this game is taking some artistic licences with this gun. But I assume that goes for mostly *any* gun/vehicle in this type of game. FPS games fortunately can't fully mimic the gritty realism of guns and we should perhaps be thankful for that.
I just started playing BF V, I'm a die hard BF fan and have been since the OG 1942, yes I'm getting old.. BFV had so much potential. Very fun game but unfortunately they dropped the ball by not including the main battles. Also should’ve added a dog fight mode since ww2 was peak dogfighting or added some sort of bomber escort mode.
I love this behemoth in Pavlov VR! And the manual reloading, if you can pull it off fast enough.. they had to nerf it with just 50 rounds drum mags, but still a beast!
