Many people almost immediately think that Omaha is the hardest sector of Normandy during the D-Day Landings. But the men at Pointe du Hoc laid their lives to prevent further casualties on the already heavy bloodhshed at Omaha. Scaling a cliif while being shot, cut off, and bombarded, and then holding that same position with diminishing supplies and a long wait for reinforcements, they truly are the greatest generation of men to ever live.

Yarnhub is back! As an American vet thanks for making a video for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. We must remember the brave American, British, and Canadian airman, soldiers, and sailors who gave everything to break into Fortress Europe. We must also remember the French collaborators who gave the British intel on the French guns who were also executed by the Germans. Great video as per usual.
French soldiers also took part in the landings And the civilians giving intel and so were the resistants. The collabos were the ones working with the krauts
Funny that you use the word "collaborators" for the French resistants, as this word is used in France to designate those who sided with Vichy and the Germans haha
Lieutenant Colonel Rudder later became the president of Texas A&M University and transformed it from a small, all-male university to the largest university in the US by enrollment. Rudder Tower on campus is named in his honor and is 110 feet tall, the exact height of Pointe du Hoc. I'm sure I speak for all Texas A&M students past, present, and future when I say that we are proud to call James Earl Rudder a fellow Aggie.
Texas A&M are also "leading the way" in saving Point du Hoc survive from the erosion that is slowly causing it to collapse into the sea, Longhorn here but nothing but respect for Rudder and the work the Aggies are doing there.
The ROTC at A&M also has their Rudder’s Ranger for cadets to further challenge and prepare themselves for their careers as Army Officers. Really shows the dedication A&M has to provide more educated officers
I actually read a book about Ranger Lomell during this battle. Crazy to think just how easily the entire operation could've ended in disaster on that beach but didn't.
I swear, if you guys figure out the speaking animations it's completely over for anyone else trying to put out similar content. Every episode is better than the last and ALWAYS worth the wait!
This is the only documentary that I have seen that actually tells the story about the cliff collapse that aided the Rangers assault up the cliff face, all the others imply that they had to climb the cliff face at its full height, thank you, I just learned something new today. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸🇺🇦🏴🏴🇮🇪
I'm glad to have visited Pointe du Hoc. The massive craters left from the USS Texas and the aerial bombardment were absolutely astonishing. The remaining bunkers and the positions of the French 155s are still partially intact. I got real close to the cliff and I was just in awe that the Rangers just didn't stop climbing and continued to attack regardless of their casualties. God bless the Rangers. Rangers lead the way.
Thank you for that comment. Grandfather served in the 5th Rangers. Got the Bronze Star for his actions on D-Day, aiding other allied troops, and got 2 Purple Hearts by the war's end. Wounded at Saint-Lo in July 44 and died in 2000.

My great grandpa was friends with James earl rudder. My grandma used to sit in his lap growing up. I went to these cliff edges in middle school and saw everything that happened. This is an incredible video, I’ve always wondered what he experienced
My Great Grandfather's brother fought in the Battle of Normandy. I don't know if he took part of the D-Day landings or not. If he did take part of the landing, he would have fought on Omaha Beach. He was killed in action five days after the landings. He fought in the US 1st Infantry Division, The Big Red One. God rest his soul and all those brave men who fought alongside him. Happy 80th anniversary of D-Day.
I am so sorry for your loss. I have deep respect for your great-grandfather's brother's service in WW2. It's hard to find out now what our ancestors did during D-Day and beyond because many records were lost in the 1973 Saint Louis fire. My grandfather served in the 5th Rangers and received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Luckily, we still had records that archive his service. God Bless your family and those who had loved ones who never returned after D-Day. They were the true heroes.
Outstanding animations, i cannot imagine how violent the fight must have been. And how determinated were those mens, rangers definitively deserve their great réputation for the fight at pointe du Hoc.
I shared this story with HistoryMarche after they posted their video about the Rangers, my grandfather served in the 5th Rangers. He got the Bronze Star on D-Day and 2 purple hearts. He died in 2000 from cancer. He fought at the Battle of Saint-Lo in July 44. A Sherman tank commander saved him in the cost of his life after getting wounded from artillery fire.

Grandfather served in the 5th Rangers, got the Bronze Star, & 2 Purple Hearts during the war. Served America well for 21+ years as a police officer after WW2
My grandfather served as an LCVP operator for the US Navy during the Omaha Beach landings. He never talked about it much, except telling that bullets were constantly flying by his head and that alot of men never made it out of his boat. He always looked really far away when he spoke about it. I wish i had a tenth of his bravery.

Awesome video!!!! In 2000 I had the honor of spending a week visiting the Normandy Beaches (all 5) and Point du Hoc, Caen, saw the Bayeux Tapestry, and the American Cemetery. Saw the Mulberry out in the distance. Just a fantastic experience. Visited Pegasus Bridge as well. Day of my visit there was a lite rain shower that passed through the area. The group I was with was at Point Du Hoc and we were wandering around the bunkers and trenches and such. I was goofing around the craters and slipped on the wet dirt; fell on my butt and slide downhill for about 15' or so. Guess I got a little experience of what the attackers/defenders went through. We went to Saint Mer Egliese and explored the town also. We wasted a bunch of time in Saint Mer Egliese at a local restaurant because one of our tour members (not speaking/reading French) ordered a meal that had something to do with the innards of a pig and whatever was left inside them innards. About 2-hours later when the meal was served, and that tour member finally realized what he had ordered (someone in the tour group was playing a joke) .....was a fun experience!! We were supposed to go to the Operation Cobra area, but that meal experience blew that thought. Afterwards, the tour group headed off to the Verdun Battlefields.
Video suggestion: The Carbantuan prison raid. Rangers, and Filipino guerrillas with support from a P-61 Blackwidow rescue allied POWs from the cruel Japanese prison camp at Carbantuan.
This is the most detailed explanation and recreation of the battle I've ever seen. As I recall, the Rangers had to scavenge German weapons to keep up the fight.
You did a great job of getting so many facts that others miss put into such a short video; current issues, remaining going to Omaha, ladders, wet ropes, telephone poles, alt gun location, counter attacks, names, etc. Usually, it's just...they climbed the cliffs and the guns were gone.
i just discovered this channel somehow and it has gotten me interested in war stories again through the unique animation style and the narration. Love how you guys cover stories that aren't as popular and more unique like the lone b 17 bomber. Keep up the good work guys.
The quality is amazing, captured the gravity of the historic events perfectly. I love the early videos still as well because of the great voice-over work but it's even more eye catching now!
Your animations and storytelling never ceased to amaze me! I have some few requests, can you make an animation for the following: 1) V-2 Rocket - how those rockets are manufactured and how the Allies counter it. 2) Germany's Tiger Tanks vs Soviet Union's IS-2 Tanks during WW2 3) Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki, and the surrender of Japan 4) Schwerer Gustav (31.5 inches Railway Gun) - largest-calibre rifled weapon ever used in combat. 5) Sinking of U-864 - this sinking of U-boat during WW2 remains the only incident in the history of naval warfare where one submarine sank another while both were submerged. 6) B-29 Superfortress - predecessor of the B-17 Flying Fortress. Designed with state-of-the-art technology, which included a pressurized cabin, dual-wheeled tricycle landing gear, and an analog computer-controlled fire-control system that allowed one gunner and a fire-control officer to direct four remote machine gun turrets.
I would love it if Yarnhub did a video on the Monchy 9 of Newfoundland. 9 men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment positioned at Monchy-le-Preux during the Battle of Arras in 1917 hid behind shrubbery and defended the town from a German force anywhere from 200 - 300 men strong for 11 hours to prevent a German break through. I think it is a very cool and very underrated battle that sounds like the plot of a movie.

The GMC Duk was a beautiful amphibious 6x6 truck, with a top speed of just 3 miles per hour in the water, she was a sitting duck. I believe the only thing that kept it floating was the bilge pumps in the hull that were powered by the propeller transfer case which was powered by the drive shaft.
Absolutely love your videos man. All respect in the world goes to that generation. They quite frankly saved the world, and no one should ever forget the sacrifice and heroism, terror and trauma those men endured. Salute 🫡
Those animations still get better. Great work! I suggest you could do something about the Battle or Narvik, or maybe about German invasion of Denmark? It's a very little- known topic. Thanks for your work once again.
Wow! Your channel has grown so well!!! The voices of the people really bring the animation to life! You really improved on the skins of the faces! Great job! Keep up the good work!
Loved it. Only channel that goes into full screen, and from the get go. You must know that already, and am waiting for the case of Yarn-Cola the guys had in the submarine that sunk a train 🙂. Oh and quite nice referenceS to SPR. Think the first one's the german soldier throwing the granate, taken from the scene where Tom Hanks gets hellbent on taking that MG42 nest and gets the medic killed. Followed by the "What are our orders - Sir!", closely afterwards... then I was just too immersed to keep looking 😀. Thank you so much guys, never stop doing what you love!
Once again you have outdone yourself Yarnhub, my most sincere congratulations🥳. The animation, the voice acting and everything else were top-notch, you just keep getting better and better. May all those men rest in peace because without them Europe would have remained oppressed by the Nazis and for having fought so bravely for a free world those soldiers have my gratitude🫡.
Except the fact he reloads it like a weird bolt action or airsoft gun XD. You can definitely reload rounds into the en bloc clip, just not like that all at once.
The longest day movie and call of duty 2 depicted this way back, no matter how many times anyone adapts this battle it still hard to fathom how they made this operation work they were built different

Bro this stuff keeps getting better
I would love it if Yarnhub did a video on the Monchy 9 of Newfoundland. 9 men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment positioned at Monchy-le-Preux during the Battle of Arras in 1917 hid behind shrubbery and defended the town from a German force anywhere from 200 - 300 men strong for 11 hours to prevent a German break through. I think it is a very cool and very underrated battle that sounds like the plot of a movie.
LET'S GO FINALLY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the animations are insane 100/10 video
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦my grate grate grandfather fred was one of the first Canadian soldiers to land on the beach from the boats he made it home i remember meeting him once in the old age home/nursing home he had a big hole right threw his left hand from a enemy soldier. Lord bless our veterans ❤
80 years ago this year 2024 crazy how much the technology has come since those times let's make our veterans proud Boys and girls they fought and lots gave there lives for us and earlier generations they'd be very upset to see this is what it lead to current time we might be speaking Chinese or Russian if they knew ahead of time
These are always like movies and I love it
This channel has come so far in graphics. You could all work for a sfx department in Hollywood.
I miss my grandpa❤
I love this part from the movie the Longest Day.
This is probably one of yarnhubs most graphic and best videos
reminded me of The Guns of Navarone
I first watched your video 4 years ago about the bf-109 that spared the stricken B-17 and yarnhub, I truly can’t believe how far the quality of your videos have come. the quality of these videos in the animation are so good it’s unbelievable. It’s like I’m watching a movie. Outstanding and awesome work. Keep up the great videos!
whoops - that was an M1 Garand, not a BAR
glad I'm not the only one who caught that, not that it's subtle
Yeah, I caught it, too; my BCT was in 1961, so I qualified with both. I was tall, too, so often I had to carry it.
(i cant write well this in english, srry)
descubri tu canal hace unos meses y me gusto la narrativa, el hecho de que esten doblados al español me gusta, la calidad mejora con cada video hasta verse mejor que las cinematicas de algunos videojuegos, Sigan asi!
saludos desde mexico ;)
Call of duty 2 players: I think I'm having a dezavu
Your stories are beautiful as always, with such a compelling narrative. Also, not to take away from your older videos, but your modern animations are sublime! Love your channel!
0:13 my bro looking at my fist about to hit his face (I told him not to call my mom a bich)
Sigma😈😈😈😎😎
11:31 Note the M3 Grease Gun the dude is carrying was designed by a German. George Hyde (Heide). He came to the US in 1927. The Grease guns were manufactured by General Motors at $20 a pop. The guns saw action in WW2 - VietNam,- Iraqi War and beyond though manufacturing ended in the 1950s. 😁
Who remembered Call Of Duty 2 ?
Dude silence
Never compare a video game to the worst day of 1000+ men’s lives
@@EngineeringAndVehiclesArchive I didn't mean so, Just spoke of the memories.
(Note: Cod2 was a game build To remember all those brave souls that gave their lives to save 'HUMANITY')
me🙋
30 seconds, yanks. God be with you!
In every WWII game I've played, the D-Days always took place in Omaha beach. Only in CoD II you can play in Point Du Hoc. Very interestanting the story of that battle.
Man you’re video’s just get better every time, love frome Sweden❤️
I can’t comprehend how grateful I am for you to take out your time and effort for you to single handily make this amazing video, I am indeed impressed, this deserves a like and a subscribe, I’m going to share this to my friend who is a history nerd.

I love how the animation is getting more detailed! Keep it up, Id love to hear about more WW1 stories
My grandfather was a us ranger in Vietnam
This is the first Video of yours I have watched in a couple months... You guys have really stepped up the CG! fluid sims, PBR, and Good Camera work... Well Done!
Oh, holy hack this Is great
The GMC Duk was a beautiful amphibious 6x6 truck, with a top speed of just 3 miles per hour in the water, she was a sitting duck. I believe the only thing that kept it floating was the bilge pumps in the hull that were powered by the propeller transfer case which was powered by the drive shaft.
I thought this was a movie😅
😅
You would be forgiven for thinking as much.
Absolutely love your videos man.
All respect in the world goes to that generation. They quite frankly saved the world, and no one should ever forget the sacrifice and heroism, terror and trauma those men endured.
Salute 🫡
As a German i watch this and just think. Thank god D-Day suceedee
i swear this gets so more realistic so keep up the good work and keep doing what youre doing
İ realized that cod 2 was historical acurate
This is call of duty cinematic level here they've come so far and I love it

This animation is even better, it is amazing production quality! It feels like I’m watching a movie.
You guys are amazing!
Edit: it looks real
Visited point de hoc whilst in Normandy. It’s so much more intimidating in person. Rest in peace soldiers who fought for liberty.
Those animations still get better. Great work! I suggest you could do something about the Battle or Narvik, or maybe about German invasion of Denmark? It's a very little- known topic. Thanks for your work once again.
How does the animation quality keep getting better and better with each video? Its truly amazing!
Wow! Your channel has grown so well!!! The voices of the people really bring the animation to life! You really improved on the skins of the faces! Great job! Keep up the good work!
I actually visited Point Du Hoc during last year's summer. The cliffs were really well kept. So i am glad to say that i recognised several places!
The way your animation has improved over the years is amazing
These videos get better by the day. Keep up the good animations and honoring those who exceded the honor of duty.
Yarbhub’s videos are getting more high quality every time
Bros work really imporved a lot.. He deserves more subscriber.
the small detail when reloading the m1 garand with the thumb getting snapped is nice
Except the fact he reloads it like a weird bolt action or airsoft gun XD. You can definitely reload rounds into the en bloc clip, just not like that all at once.
The longest day movie and call of duty 2 depicted this way back, no matter how many times anyone adapts this battle it still hard to fathom how they made this operation work
they were built different
That was awesome. Each new release continues to show such impressive growth in all aspects of production, animation, & storytelling. What a terrific way to experience history. Thank you!
