Thank you for sharing...just an extra tip if you want to use because i learned alot from you. For the tea lights while the wax is melting you can put a little of the hot wax at the bottom of the tea light and place the wicks...when you pour the wax they wont move 😅 it really helps
Wow thank you .. I know I asked a lot of questions but I'm trying to make and sell candles with my dad and I am just trying to learn as much as a can and that's when I found your channel and I've been watching ur vids and I'm going to start today
very helpful videos. I have made soy candles in the past. your videos have made me want to get back into the hobby. you make everything look very easy.
I've heard good things about beeswax too. Not sure about gel candles, but I imagine it would be similar to paraffin as far as burn times, but they do look neat :) Keep in mind that my videos are for soy wax, so if you go with a different kind of wax, you'll want to find instructions specifically for that. Have fun shopping!
Hi Melissa - thank you for taking the time with your video- I have a question determining scent combinations- I am trying to develop a relaxing aroma. What is method to determine a good combination of oils to obtain a good cold throw and a good hot throw. Some have are soft scent, medium scent, dominate scent.
I so love your videos on candle making. They are very informative and easy to follow.Because of your easy to follow instructions I made my first set of candles and they came out just perfectly. Will you ever do a video on tart melts? ;0)
Well, I've only used soy so I can't say how other types of waxes work, but I know that some reasons I love soy wax 1. it's a natural wax (paraffin isn't, it's made from petroleom), 2. it burns cleaner and longer than paraffin wax. 3. It is much easier to clean up than paraffin if it's spilled. I would like to try beeswax sometime although it is more expensive than soy.
Its ok .. I love ur videos and today my dad is taking me to hobby lobby to by candle wax... which wax do u suggest I use... beeswax, paraffin, soy, gel etc... and why
I have made several attempts at candle making. So far i have failed miserably.I want to know how much fragrance to use in a small candle. It doesn't seem to be that strong. How do i get the wick centered. My wick is not centered.I want to make my own nontoxic paint to color my candles because they don't sell that stuff in the craft stores. What do you recommend i use to make this? I want to sell these candles when i feel they are good enough to sell. How do i go about marketing and selling them? Your input would really help!
im new to this love your videos, now i made one with soy wax about 2 oz im sure i measured wrong but i put almost equal amount of fragrance i like strong smelling candles so my candle wrinkled up on top would that have been the problem too much fragance?
So you're saying you put 2oz of fragrance oil in a 2oz candle? If that's the case, then yes, that is too much oil. You should only use up to around 10% fragrance oil, so for a 2oz candle you can use a maximum of .2 oz of fragrance oil. If you use too much the oil will start seeping out of the candle wax which can cause a fire when it comes in contact with the flame
nice kitchen ^_^. video so useful :). made my first candles, they turned out well :). the apple struesel scent made me hungry though when i made the candles lol
Luanne, you can use a bit more fragrance and color. Soy wax can only hold usually up to around 10% fragrance load, so for 1lb of soy wax the max amount of fragrance oil you could use is 1.6oz Otherwise if you use too much, the oil will start to seep out of the wax and that is dangerous when burning the candle. Also, you can use up to 30 drops of the liquid dye in 1lb of soy wax.
I have some questions for you? I am starting a Candle business I have purchased your book already. ( I love it ) I just need some guidance from someone who has done this before
Yes, that is normal. That's usually when I know it's time to pour. It's kind of funny though because sometimes it's starting to get slushy at 100 degrees, and other times they don't get slushy until 90 degrees, not sure if it's the kind of fragrance used or what.
HomeCandleCreations Thank you very much. Your videos are so helpful; because I though I had done something wrong because it was so slushy. I was pouring at 130 degrees and got a lot of spots and the hot throw wasn't anywhere near the cold scent throw. Cold was wonderful and hot was almost non existent!! Thanks again
This was great, thanks, I have been researching "adding fragrance to soy wax" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Peyaniel Psychological Predominance - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a smashing one off product for discovering the trick to be a candle maker for profit without the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my neighbour got great results with it.
Hi I have been having problems with my candles! They will not stay lite! I changed the wick to the braided wick! I am using soy wax and they will never burn right one side may not even burn at all! I have no idea what I am doing wrong can you please help? I really want to make them for people but for some reason it's not working for me! What am I doing wrong? Thanks
Rashea Jackson What kind of wicks are you using? Most likely the wick is not a big enough wick. There are many different sizes and types of wicks so you need to make sure you have the right one for the size of candle you are making. Check out my post on testing your candles and you'll find info on choosing a wick: www.soycandlemakingtime.com/testing-soy-candles/
Beeswax is a harder wax so you can make votives and pillars with 100% beeswax. 100% soy is too soft for votives and pillars so you would need to use a votive blend for votives and mix soy with beeswax, paraffin or palm wax to make pillars. Beeswax is considered the most natural since it doesn't need any processing to get the wax, unlike soy wax which is processed and many soy crops are genetically modified crops (GMO's).
Do you still heat your wax to 180 degrees to add your oil if it has a lower flashpoint than the normal 200-212??? Im a new candle maker and I just started watching your videos. I love them!!
That's something I would need to try out to know for sure. All the oils I've used so far are the normal higher flashpoint oils. But I know when I start testing essential oils there are many that have lower flashpoints. I would say that you should probably add them at a lower temp though.
Just wonderful, I've been looking for "soy candle making" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Cenadoelyn Candle Contemplation - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my partner got great results with it.

Where do you order your big bottles of fragrance?
Hello - how do you clean the pourer jug from old wax ?
Well, I've only used soy so I can't say how other types of waxes work, but I know that some reasons I love soy wax 1. it's a natural wax (paraffin isn't, it's made from petroleom), 2. it burns cleaner and longer than paraffin wax. 3. What happens if you glue your wick using a glue stick and how many does a pound make and I use 6006
is the flash point on candle making fragrances higher then other (soap) fragrances? I make soap and found 180 would burn off any scent I use.
Sorry I didn't see your comment! Most candle fragrance oils have a flashpoint of 200 or more.
Its ok .. I love ur videos and today my dad is taking me to hobby lobby to by candle wax... which wax do u suggest I use... beeswax, paraffin, soy, gel etc... and why

Thanks for the info .Now its easy to make candles
im new to this love your videos, now i made one with soy wax about 2 oz im sure i measured wrong but i put almost equal amount of fragrance i like strong smelling candles so my candle wrinkled up on top would that have been the problem too much fragance?

Thank you... is soy and beeswax almost the same thing cause I know they are both all natural
Where do you purchase your supplies?
As far as essential oils and wax?
Hi, Can u use more fragrance oil, and more coloring?
Luanne, you can use a bit more fragrance and color. What kind of pot do you recommend - aluminum or stainless steel for melting the wax ....or does it matter?
lmturmenne Sorry for such a late response! Sometimes I don't see new comments here. Either should work fine
I have some questions for you? I am starting a Candle business I have purchased your book already. ( I love it ) I just need some guidance from someone who has done this before
And how's your candle business now?
Can you mix soy wax with paraffin wax like a half and half sort of thing..
Yes you can!
Thanks for uploading! So informative. :)
Katie Mc You're welcome! :)
Also at 100 degrees for a pour is it normal for the wax to look slushy in appearance?
Yes, that is normal. That's usually when I know it's time to pour. It's kind of funny though because sometimes it's starting to get slushy at 100 degrees, and other times they don't get slushy until 90 degrees, not sure if it's the kind of fragrance used or what.

Yeah, those trains like to go by at such convenient times! lol

Sorry, I did in my other videos, but apparently I forgot to include that in this one!

Becky Palmer Your welcome, thanks!

Vids... not views
why do you measure your liquid (fragrance) by weight? liquid is measured by volume. have you tried it both ways and not make much of a difference?
yuta
