- Rik Mayall's Resting Place ?

Rik sadly passed away on 9/6/2014 aged 56 in his home Barnes London SW13 ONX ( across the river from Chiswick Rugby Club ) after jogging in the humid heat so so sad.
They think it could have been a heart attack but his beloved Wife Barbara thinks it may have been an epileptic fit after developing epilepsy after his serious Quad Bike accident in 1998 resulting in him having to daily medicate after his diagnosis.
Rik's funeral took place on June 19th 2014 at Dittisham the Riverside village in South Devon on the River Dart.The 140 mourners attended St George's Church TQ6 OHS and the funeral service started off with the song
" A Whiter Shade of Pale '
by Procul Harem which was played on the church organ at the end of the service , Rik left in his Wicker coffin covered with red roses followed by his wife three children and his dog to the song
" Brown Eyed Girl "
by Van Morrison .He was then taken 9.8 miles to the Family Farm in East Allington for his burial not far from The Fortescue Arms TQ9 7RA .
However on further research whilst having a few jars in the Ferry Boat Inn (F.B.I.) Dittisham TQ6 OEX which was one of Rik's favourite Locals , I was informed he is infact buried in St George's Churchyard in an unmarked grave to stop tourist / fans from spoiling the ambience of the church and village .
Whose telling the TRUTH ? Anyway I miss this very talented and funny genius.God Bless you Rik ❤️ x

I really loved his Comedy it was quite moving walking around St George's grounds Dittisham ( Pronounced dit shum )and we treated ourselves to some food and a few pints afterwards in the Ferry Boat Inn just down the little lane from the Church on the banks of The River Dart .Hope you go there someday take care 😎

I relocated to Devon in 2011 and when Rik sadly passed away I was only 22 miles away from Dittisham so went over to pay my respects with my pal and my Daughter it meant a lot to us all and your comments will bring a lot of happiness to his family friends and family 🤓

I brought my kid up on your hilarity and humour. She’s 21 now and her friends can’t keep up with her zany ambitions to write and make others laugh.
You are as important as any class lesson for children and adults with the big kid still in them.

I gather that Rik is actually buried on his family's farmland at Pasture Farm, Totnes, Devon.
I saw Ben Elton and Rik in the mid-80s, each doing stand-up in Byron Bay, Australia. The room was called The Piggery (an homage to its origins), and it was the music venue within the Arts Factory. It was little more than a stage and 150 people standing about drinking, but what a night. Ben did a frantic hour before Rik came on as "Rik" for an hour, then finished the show as himself. Tickets were as cheap as a beer - pretty sure they were $2 - and I still cannot believe that it happened.

Well we all loved Rik and his unbelievable Great Humour......I was so sad when I went into the Church Grounds but also could feel his Warmth and Love....Thanks to all his friends at The Ferry Boat Inn Dittisham ...You were " My Cup of Tea Rik ! ".....as they say " Up North England !! " x
That’s not his resting place. That’s where the funeral took place. His resting place is at his family’s farm in Totnes.
Rik Mayall was a brilliant comic actor and stand up comedian. Alan B'Stard was a work of pure genius.

He was funny. I used to watch every episode of Young Ones when I was a teenager. Hillarious. Now watching New Statesman and Blackadder and just watched One by One. As a Worthing lad living in Devon I'm finding more connections with Rik everyday. Thanks for the laughs.

He was my childhood hero and still is.. I'm 44 now and not a day goes by when I don't think of a quote from young ones or flash heart.. It truly makes me sad when I think we won't see any new material from the master of comedy.. Great video xx

I live in Torquay so had to pay homage to him soon after his death .I went to a little pub he used to go to in Dittisham called the FBI [ The Ferry Boat Inn ] right on the River Dart and I sat in his favourite seat and asked about him they said he was a kind and quiet sort of man who had a pint and made notes in a note pad .Thanks for watching gedanded God Bless Rik 😇🙏

Rik mayell was one of greatest next to ade Edmondson comics to ever have graced our television.i would love to go there and show my respects.ibwas born in 1984 and from the second I got to see him he was always the most special and obsessively loved by me and watched by me as well as ade and I grew up put on impression's when asked to make mini plays with class mates I always wanted to do slapstick fighting comedy with my mates.to this day I still use Rik and Ades impression's and mannerisms when messing about.the world is fucking so different without the best double act.it hurt to watch ade on EastEnders.not that I wath it but it just reminds u what's missing.i watched drop dead Fred hundreds of times I had the script book to the series.i want to go and see the unofficial bench in Hammersmith next time I'm in london.i know it's not real but just to have my picture with a paper in hand coz I'm bald u see.ive never liked a t.v personality like rik

I went to this graveyard last monday to pay my respects to rik.......adored him but could not find his headstone anywhere and i looked for 40 minutes.......i was told and then i googled it,he was apparently buried at his home in devon a few miles away??i do not know what to believe.
it doesn't matter where it is ...its his wife's private home and visitors and fans are not to walk in and hunt for his grave...that's disrespectful!
so all we have is our memories and his films/tV

Just to be clear, Rick is NOT buried at St George’s Church in Dittisham Dorset it’s where his funeral was held. I found this out after watching this video, booking a cottage for a week and going visiting St George’s to pay my respects to Rik, only to find out his grave is not there, it is at his family’s farm. So in a way, through my tears of sorrow as I stood in the graveyard, Rik had something to laugh about. God bless him, always missed, always making us laugh and smile. X
