They're technically considered enemy craft, but they have a separate flag set that also ends the mission if you shoot them. If you beat the mission, you can kill them during the fadeout and you get points for it like any other aircraft, because the flag gets removed. Also implies warcrimes are only warcrimes if you do them while on the clock. Doing them on the way home is a-ok.
in an f-14, the WSO has to control the radar, and has the ability to launch the missiles. so yeah, its on prez. also despite ACM modes in the pilot seat, prez could realistically just turn off the Weapon Control System which disables the radar.

@@MartianLeo_T because the fact that they are neutral does not mean they are friendly. If i remember correctly they were markes as yellow right? So that's not red, which is enemy, because they were not enemies, but also not friendly. Besides, the AI escort turned out to be enemy later, remember?
