This video is so underrated. I can't stop watching it. While Raptor's Pixy was shown as a last smug, mocking and somewhat lecturing figure to Crimson's (his foil) madness, this Pixy is a great reluctant hero: sober, with clipped comebacks, brought to the limelight, and to the point. -info dump alert- You fucking set the tone with that speech at the beginning - it already makes a prelude for the whiplash you feel at Cascadia's sudden transformation into hell in earth - it truly feels like Pixy is giving his own side of Cascadia's war. Not starting with OST at the beginning allows one to soak up the atmosphere, and when it starts, oh man. Zero starts with a sense of urgency and despair, the first seconds could be interpreted as Pixy's radio trying to catch any frequence to no avail, and the cordium-induced storm almost drowns the entire soundtrack, but it still shines through; like Pixy still being focused despite his sheer horror at the sight. Then it fucking matches with Crimson's taunts, almost like if they were the lyrics, then shifting into a more optimistic tone when Pixy answers right back with his own taunt. Then Crimson's words at 1:44 are almost like jabbing right into Pixy's past when he flew the Morgan and cooperated with AWWNB, the song turning mournful at the sight of the molten city. But Pixy once again makes it sound hopeful at 2:09, as if the song reacts to his renewed confidence, as if he wasn't done yet. And then the true dogfight starts at 2:29 with, what do you know, Pixy fucking *joustling* Crimson despite being outgunned, right as he fucking insults him with "What a joke", slowly Pixy is getting more bold and the song reacts to that confidence with the guitar that acts like a leimotiff for him in this video. He doesn't fly far from Crimson, he's actively chasing him, launching missiles and shooting his tail while taking those Gs like monday pancakes, and when the song reaches its climax at 3:35 just as Pixy says *"You're fired up? Come shoot me down!"* is basically the game telling you to put things nice and even, which Undercoder does. The music gets 'cheerier' the more Pixy damages Crimson, like in 4:08, almost telling both Pixy and the player to fight harder. "While you're up here "fighting for Peace", tons of blood is being shed on the ground! Some peace, kid." HERE is where Pixy turns his horror into anger, following with "You're still yapping, aren't you? That tells me you're fine." Meaning he actually wants to kill Crimson, he's no longer overcome with sadness, he's bristling with vengeance, a sense of justice, or just wanting to prove himself the better pilot. Just like Cipher. 4:41 suddenly the song isn't not just about the tragedy, it's now Pixy avenging all those lives and stopping Crimson. "It's pretty ironic, buddy. A couple of dogs like us fighting the last battle." Someone who almost succeeding in his nuclear attacks, and someone who did succeed. None of them were the icons of hope or order they were before; like when Pixy was still Galm 2 or when Crimson was still a mostly smug but professional Peacekeeper. Shit gets more real when Phase 2 starts - and the music fucking coincides with the gameplay at 5:17, it's like it fucking reads Pixy's mood - when he's supposed to feel sad, the voice comes, but when he goes to shoot the hell out of Crimson, who whenever he talks makes Pixy's angry as fuck - it gets energetic and louder, like it's fueled by his adrenaline and increasing PSMs and hits. It also goes with Crimson's more erratic attack patterns and Pixy's dodges, it's like it reads the flow of the dogfight and changes when necessary - when Crimson talks again while Pixy goes on the offensive. And he. Stills. Fucking. Joustles. Crimson. Who, actually, fucking cowers whenever Pixy flies straight towards him. For once, the music actually matches, just once and shortly, with Crimson's resignation 7:40 - "You drove me to this! This death and destruction over the Federation! Millions of lives lost... so many ghosts. Kill me, or be killed!" Just when Pixy is flying through clouds of dusts and embers, giving a wide view to Crimson's actions. And what Pixy says? "Crash where I can't see." This Pixy can't even summon enough sarcasm to rebut Crimson's claims, it shows how pissed and affected he is from all of this. Then Undercoder makes another beatiful match when Pixy goes over the clouds at 8:11, with Pixy's statements morphing the music once again to its energetic form, dogfighting right over the fucking clouds like men do. "Here we are! Fighting for Cascadia's soul." The amount of things that just match with the music is insane, and Crimson's statement is one of these things; once again shit gets even more real with the song and the 3rd phase: orbs, railguns, missiles, jet joustling... it has everything. Pixy's is so in-character here, he never wastes a chance to get close and personal against an unknown plane, no matter how what Crimson throws at him
@@Undercoder If I may, I can say your video is the Soldier Route of the Pixy v Crimson videos. You really nailed it with Pixy's last interview and Galm 2 still playing in the ending. It gives the feeling of finality and a tragic ending.
+Luis, great analysis! I also like to add that the reason Crimson called Pixy as Monarch is because it's either Pixy's new call sign when he flew in that part of the world or it's a nickname that Crimson gave to him since Pixy was a prior fighter pilot in a previous war. Thus, Pixy is like an experience "King of the Sky" in flying in missions involving the Cascadian conflict.
@@thegoodwin I concur! Monarch could just refer to the ways Pixy's skills triumph over everything: facilities, fleets, squadrons, entire flying fortresses, experimental, cordium-powered fighters... hell, I'm pretty sure he did more prior to the Cascadian War, just because.
@@thegoodwin Lore accurate, as one of his names in Strangereal was "The King". Yes I know Mihaly is also called "King" but it was also used for Larry Foulke.

This is why i like Project Ace's Games Community, While people are fighting against Each Other for Stupid reasons. Others creates Content like this. I love Ace Combat and it's Community. Creates content and Fanfiction with People's will, not War reasons. Keep it up i loved every second of it
the entire Ace Combat story itself is like a fanfiction of the aviation world inspired by Top Gun itself, and allows you to interact with said fanfiction. There's so much more room to fit one's own fan fiction in given the materials it gives, and most are not too far from what would happen in the story, if not, fills in the gaps between each games. Trigger meets Mobius 1, Cipher reuinites with Larry Foulke in person, Monarch introduces his WSO waifu to the AC folks. This dogfight. There's an analysis on the dogfight here as well, well-written. All of these just to show how a really good fanfic can inspire creativity beyond its own box.
This, was absolutely remarkable. The entire scenario, the way the dialogue lined up, how the chaffe looked like fiery flowers across that hellish landscape, and how at the end it was just tranquil, quiet.
“Wide open roads, two lives cross, one continues. What we do today determines our tomorrow. As the night leans heavy onto the blades of feathers, scraping across the perpetual breasts of mortality, where are we headed, where does our pavement end?”
After playing AC7 as my first AC game and played AC6, and saw how my allies were effective as hell in combat, I unintentionally said “what Belkan witchcraft is this shit!?”
God I really love these kinds of things. Pixy or Mihaly versus Crimson 1, and using their dialogue to argue with Crimson 1 amid his speech. It just works so wonderfully.
This is great, primarily becasue I've had the though in my head for a while now that Crimson 1 really is just the Anti-Pixy. Both were driven to use Apocalypse-causing weapons due to their strong beliefs. Both are Ace pilots good enough to rival the players of their respective games. The only difference is that while Crimson 1 is Hyper-Nationalist, completely devoted to the Federation, Pixy is a complete Anarchist, who wants to nuke the world to get rid of countries and borders. They really are two sides of the same coin.
What I like about this video in particular is that when crimson brings up that the federation is fighting for peace pixy calls him a hypocrite for causing the opposite. Causing crimson to get even more angry for calling him out like that. But one thing I think people don't talk about is the fact that when crimson enters the third phase and is planes system start to fail All he hears from pixy is his iconic phrase "it's time" It was here crimson realized that he was going to die and that pixy had beaten him philosophically and quite literally and that if he was right cascadia would win the war proving him wrong and villanizing him in the eyes of history.
more poetic that it's not the Morgan plane that C1 had to fight with, it's Pixy in his true-est form, the single-red-wing F-15. Demon Lord's best friend who fought missiles and lasers and landed without a wing. Literally every weapon C1 Crimson has, in some way or another, is exactly the same as those equipped on the Morgan, but Pixy fought the PW with an F-15, reflects the Avalon Dam dogfight with the positions switched. Pixy, whether he knew he'd win or not, said "I can't lose". In the cockpit of the jet that he and his buddy once flown, Pixy realizes what Cipher must have felt fighting him, but Crimson's no buddy, all the more reason to never forgive the tragedy of what the King has caused. Pixy found what he was once fighting for, the very reason why he sat in the F-15 that slain the Morgan down, now aim to end the monster within and without. So, "It's time" in this dogfight concluded Pixy's character from ACZ and end it with what would be "the loop that stretched to infinity".
This is fantastic! I love how much more mature and sincere Pixy seems here. It feels much more like Mission 18 Pixy than the previous version, and I think that's a good thing. Fantastic work!
Pixy is the kind of protag in this game that went through the same shit the antagonist did, but came out as a vastly different man. While being able to shoot back every quote an antagonist can with something of his own.
The way you've used the dialog is... HMM i can feel the salt flying off Crimson 1. everytime he opens his mouth, Pixy has a comback. everytime he attempts to blame Pixy, Pixy speaks the truth. i love it.
Crimson 1: "If I had killed you over Yellowstone, this world would be over by now. That was a mistake. I intend to correct that." Pixy: "One small problem with that. This isn't *your* theme song."
the good timing of the Talks is just perfect... i hope that there will be mods that adds voices like Pixy for Monarch (sometimes a quiet protagonist is just a Empty one)
No lie, if it were fiscally possible, I’d love to see a mod where they brought in Yuri Lowenthal, Pixy’s VA, and had him actually record lines for a ‘voice’ mod to have Monarch actually be Pixy, for the whole campaign. And no, don’t bring in A.I., it’s just shitting on the faces of everyone who’s been doing all of this work.
i wish these flying games dint had a silent protagonist... sometimes it gives more character and even cooler when your dueling as a character you know and bonded
I'd like to think this as a "prequel" of Zero, which made Pixy reconsider his life as a mercenary before meeting cipher and in result, his betrayal which lead him to have the same ideology as crimson 1 at some extent

So I've seen both Yours and Raptors videos, and there are some interesting things to take away. Raptor's video suffers 'coming first' issues greatly. It's very unrefined, it comes off as if he's trying to get the most out of Pixy's audio rather then focus on a narrative in and of itself. Particularly with how the fact that Your Pixy comes off as far more fitting for how he is after the story of ACZ which both you and raptor use clips from. Additionally you make the effort to cut the "buddy" out of Pixy's lines which is absolutely fitting cause he has 0 reason to call Crimson 1, someone who has only ever been his opponent, "buddy." Now Raptor definitely has a few moments where his line choice felt more solid, but i only know i felt that way because i felt it, i can't remember what they were save 1, when Pixy in my opinion, rightfully flips shit over Crimson 1 surviving his final hit and the explosion there in. It did feel more fitting that Crimson 1 not finally going down when what looks like a clear explosion that should send the wreck of his fighter to the earth goes off. Other then that, almost everything you do is better picked, it fits the character, it flows better, and it has the extra touches of the editing and subtitled which really help. Though a weird thing. Ironically, it feels like the footage, has been given to the wrong videos. In Raptors video Pixy is this aloof, snarky, almost jackass level smug ace who's toying with this punk ass kid and dunking on him. Which would be fine, if his footage didn't see the pilot nearly shot out of the sky. While on the other hand, Your Pixy is far more of a reluctant hero, fighting someone he clearly sees as his comparative equal if not just a flat out dark reflection of everything he could of been, someone who is pushed to his limits in this fight, and yet, You're footage show's Pixy dunking Crimson 1 like he's a pissant.
Even though pixy in this video was controlled by the player, in which pixy would be invincible. Its fun to think that pixy, in his basic F-15 would be able to match or even beat crimson 1 in his highly advanced super fighter.

Pixy's is so in-character here, he never wastes a chance to get close and personal against an unknown plane, no matter how what Crimson throws at him
This is such a genuinely beautiful analysis. Heartfelt thank you for in-depth analysis 💜
Monarch could just refer to the ways Pixy's skills triumph over everything: facilities, fleets, squadrons, entire flying fortresses, experimental, cordium-powered fighters... hell, I'm pretty sure he did more prior to the Cascadian War, just because.

the entire Ace Combat story itself is like a fanfiction of the aviation world inspired by Top Gun itself, and allows you to interact with said fanfiction.

God I really love these kinds of things. Pixy or Mihaly versus Crimson 1, and using their dialogue to argue with Crimson 1 amid his speech. It just works so wonderfully.
This really does feel like the finale of a Gundam series where they pilot planes instead of robots.
This is golden their dialogue fits TOO well.
8:20 even Pixy himself agrees with you on that one.

What I like about this video in particular is that when crimson brings up that the federation is fighting for peace pixy calls him a hypocrite for causing the opposite. Causing crimson to get even more angry for calling him out like that.
But one thing I think people don't talk about is the fact that when crimson enters the third phase and is planes system start to fail All he hears from pixy is his iconic phrase "it's time"
It was here crimson realized that he was going to die and that pixy had beaten him philosophically and quite literally and that if he was right cascadia would win the war proving him wrong and villanizing him in the eyes of history.
more poetic that it's not the Morgan plane that C1 had to fight with, it's Pixy in his true-est form, the single-red-wing F-15.
Really appreciate using Galm 2 at the end there. It really sets a mood to remember.

Additionally you make the effort to cut the "buddy" out of Pixy's lines which is absolutely fitting cause he has 0 reason to call Crimson 1, someone who has only ever been his opponent, "buddy."
Now Raptor definitely has a few moments where his line choice felt more solid, but i only know i felt that way because i felt it, i can't remember what they were save 1, when Pixy in my opinion, rightfully flips shit over Crimson 1 surviving his final hit and the explosion there in.
You can say that they are the opposite side of the same coin...
and never face the same direction
