FALLOUT (2024) EPISODE 6 REACTION - THIS WAS SO MESSED UP! - FIRST TIME WATCHING - REVIEW

- Welcome to our first-time watching as we react to the Fallout (2024) show.
On episode 6 of Fallout we got to explore the newly found vault 4 and it's people. We finally get some answers as to where the mutated axolotl might've been created and the answer is...pretty messed up. As Lucy uncovers the truth about this specific vault it is made clear things are not always what they seem. Maximus and Lucy get to spend some more time together and we thoroughly enjoyed the character development being set up here.
Fallout (2024) is the gripping new Amazon Prime Video series based on the iconic video game. Starring Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan, with visionary direction by Jonathan Nolan, this adaptation brings the beloved game to life in thrilling fashion.
Jonathan Nolan did such a great job bringing this world to life. As newcomers we thought the exposition was delivered in a very simple yet effective manner. The cinematography looked absolutely stunning and the set design is truly out of this world. Lucy is such a magnetic character. Her charisma and values create a stark contrast once she ventures into the real world giving us a fresh take on the fish out of water trope.
Ella Purnell's portrayal of a resilient survivor, Walton Goggins as a cunning antagonist bring depth to this chaotic new world. Jonathan Nolan's direction ensures a cinematic experience, masterfully blending intense drama with the dark humor and iconic elements of the Fallout universe. The show excels in both storytelling and visual spectacle, making it a standout addition to the genre.
We hope you enjoy our reaction, discussion, commentary and review as we delve into the themes and topics that make this show so enjoyable to us.

Chills when Lucy grabs flag of NCR. That was main theme of Fallout games and I’m glad they keep it for show
Not just any Fallout game - New Vegas. That game had EVERYTHING to do with NCR.
Not the main theme of Fallout games... Just New vegas.
Yeah, when New Vegas theme kicked in, i got chills, and was also giddy with excitement.
you can already see his wife KNOWS the bombs WILL drop. i still got shivers when the NCR theme played,..
It’s crazy that’s there’s only 2 episodes left. And that there’s only been 6 episodes so far. They cram so much into a fairly short series and every moment is high quality writing and acting. Quality over quantity is epitomised with this.
Haha you said cram 🤓🤣🔥🤟✌️
@@reeferman42078 🤣🤣🤣
You nailed it: quality over quantity . . .
It's only the 1st season, more episodes incoming.
the way she flipped it onto him when he asked about his freedoms was evil genius levels of deflections
pissed me off so much on the first watch lol i was like "respond to his legitimate concerns dammit!"
When Denise said "make that weird thing happen" I absolutely lost it!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
the fact she's like "get it" first 😂 these two are great entertainment
Coop’s commercial, filmed in vault 4, stated they are a vault staffed with scientists on a 5 year mission to find radiation resistant adaptations to help humanity survive. The bombs dropped before the 5 years were up, I guess things got out of control through the years.
The guy that plays the voice of the robot also plays the character Laszlo in "what we do in the shadows" which is a hilarious vampire mockumentary series. If you haven't seen it I highly suggest you watch it. I recognized his voice right away.
He was in Darkplace first. Great show.
Also it crowd
@@LudusAurea true
I find his casting a witty in joke: the Ghoul is good friends with a vampire.
So that cool car is a totally original car from the 50s, sliding doors and all -- a 1954 Kaiser Darrin.
The Moment when Lucy picks up the NCR Flag to have a look, the music that sets in is the actual video game theme for Fallout. And it gave me maaaasssiiivveeee chills and goosebumps and does so EVERYTIME i see the scene.
Yessssssss🔥🔥🔥✌️🤟
If you listen to a lot of the music you can hear so many cues from music from throughout the game series weaved into the shows music. But yeah let's be honest that main theme strike up was the nostalgia hit we really needed.
Notice, the finger Cooper sews onto his hand isn't his- it's Lucy's. The one he cut off in ep.4 (after she bit his off).
I think there's some hidden storytelling going on there. The mercy and kindness Lucy showed him near the end of ep.4 rubbed off on him. He's still a ruthless S.O.B, but maybe a little bit less so. Lucy saving him, after everything he did to her (plus seeing the videotape of the man he once was) helped him get just the tinyest bit of his humanity back, and now his trigger finger is Lucy's actual finger. She affected him psychologically, and now she's literally a physical part of him.
All of us gamers jumped off our couches at 14:53 because the music they played when Lucy opened the flag was the Fallout game theme.
I remembered suddenly all the adventures I had growing up with the NCR and I low-key saluted
It's also the theme of Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
It's just the general fallout theme from 3 onwards, it's not the fallout 4 theme specifically(since it's actually somewhat of a mix between 3 and 4).
Tell me you never played fallout 3 or New vegas without telling me 😅
@@gazwilliams-nc7jp who me?
No dogs in the vault was Vault Tec’s step too far for Coop, and saving 4 was a smile worthy moment for the Ghoul. A nice ribbon through time showing the Ghoul still has some of Coop’s compassion and humanity, even though 4 had a working purpose for him.
That advertisement in the beginning tho.....
Walton Goggins could talk about wildlife and I'd still listen to him for hours
He could talk about sports an I'd listen to him.
reminded me of the old rob sterling twilight zone!
Do you consider wildlife boring? I work with wildlife for a living. It's endlessly fascinating.
@@chasingbirds3073 No, I'm saying most documentaries on wildlife are boring
@@batmanvsjoker7725 but they're not.
you never played the games.. but that moment when she looks at the new california flag and the theme from the old fallout games plays... i dont remember when i hat that many shivers watching a tv series ever. my favorite moment of the series
For me the last time it was watching Luke Skywalker training grogu and some classic John Williams music was playing, but yes I absolutely agree with you that scene gives me so many good feels ❤️🔥
What is most unsettling is that Vault 4 is one of the least messed-up vaults.
Well not at the present. Those mutants were the decedents of the mutants that rebelled against the Vault-Tec scientists. I am sure prior to the rebellion, those impregnated women were forced to carry the mutant offsprings.
GAAAAAARRRRRYYYYYYYyYYYYYYY
@@IH8YH Those Gary's were easy to kill for some XP. I believe the vault were just abandoned by the non-clones.
Lots of "management" talk in this episode. Remember "Death to Management" written on the wall in Vault 32.
Still no clue why people feel the need to give hints at stuff like this
Great observation about Max and Lucy that now they have switched the position
Barb "when the bombs drop" 🤔 the amount of gas lighting she did to his valid concerns
Love that the Ghoul's trigger finger is Lucys
She’s definitely sus!
Definitely. Its not "if" its "when" the bombs drop as if its a matter of fact.
@@CollideFan1 she was too busy guilting him for him to notice. I was like "excuse me maam!"
One thing I've noticed and haven't heard mentioned is how he didn't mention lucy being at the super duper mart and outright saying it was her fault
Well, Lucy did save his life, and it was his fault she was there. Also, I don't think the President of the Governmint would have believed him if he'd said it was really a 115-lb Vault-Dweller.
@@MichaelPalin Yea true, that's a little subtle character moment, and Yea lol 😂 your absolutely right.
22:35 "Thats the guy with the nose!" That comment got me for no reason. Not because its funny but if taken out of context thats the wors description ever. :D
Moldaver was a scientist with heightened situational awareness... weathering time is implied... another clever gameplay device
1:50 the number there someone actually called/texted it.
If text it mentions about reserve your spot and something about in 52 weeks. The person that texted on Twitter said they gonna check if see if it counts down or not, no response since then so don’t know.
The call is interesting. When you call you get ppl panicking/screaming.
This was such a crazy episode. The design of the mutated vault dwellers was amazing. So glad they started to reveal the true intentions of the vaults. Thanks again for the amazing review. You rock 🤘
The house they are in is the house he does the Birthday party for. His home lost in the divorce becomes the place he is standing at in the bomb scene.
this episode and the next one are such an emotional rollercoaster, in fact every one after this is, there are so many twists and turns, and they are done so well, i frigging loved it. And it's so great to go on this ride again with you guys vicariously.
Imagine not experiencing a hot shower in your entire life until you were in your 20s, and what a sensation that woukd be...The things we take for granted.
Yea but you have that luxury because you bend over for a corrupt government who wouldn’t hesitate to take it away when you stop believing in the system.
You guys are going to have so much fun exploring the Vaults in Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4.
I know shows like these tend to a win awards for set design, props, and costuming but I would love at least nominations for everyone especially Aaron Moten! But at the very least I know they are going to be drama classes everywhere where people are going to choose to do Maximus’s sex education scene for class work.
I welled up when they started playing the main theme from Fallout 4. Totally unexpected and epic! This is my first comment on your channel. You guys are amazing!
Matt Berry is the actor who plays sea bass( Coopers' friend from the pool party/robot voice) is a phenomenal british comedic actor. You guys should react to What we do in the shadows, which he's in and The IT Crowd, which he also stars in!! Please Please do it! :D :D :D
IT CROWD is HILARIOUS!!! Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding absolute kill in every scene!
The Vault 4 commercial Cooper did with the scientist is the same vault Max & Lucy ended up in!
This episode is so wonky and it fits so perfectly
Loved the tone!
When you find out that one fusion core is supposed to power an entire vault for hundreds of years but in the game it cant power your power armor for more than 30 minutes. 🤣
Anytime you get more than two people together (who aren't related) you have a "govermint"
What are they testing for? "anything They can get away with."
Yes,
Cyril Figgis would of course Be a vault administrator, & happy to do so.
Did anyone else call the number for reserving a vault? It’s just someone screaming when it picks up.
I steal every fusion core I can find in the game...even though I have a fusion cell recharger in my camp. :)
Months ago when the trailer came out, the cyclops REALLY worried me, but it all worked out satisfactorily.
Thank God, Yau Guai don't have two heads like everything else.
The power armor mentioned was the T-45, earliest model of the power armor that Coop used. T-51 was the next model but never shown in the show yet, and the current models they were using is the T-60. Just to clear up some confusion with the names there hehe😊
I'm not in America but apparently you can actually ring that number for a cool little fun extra bit of the fallout world which i love that a show does that 😄
See, the idea that Vault-Tech needs or wants the bombs to fall is the one major problem I have with the series, because if you think it through, that makes no sense. Selling spots in the vaults is like selling insurance. And if you know anything about how insurance works, you would know that, while insurance companies certainly want you to worry about bad things happening, they don't actually WANT bad things to happen. Because if the bad things actually happen, that is when the insurance companies have to pay up. That is when they lose money. Same goes for nuclear apocalypse. Nuclear apocalypse essentially means the end of profits. Vault-tec goes from building and selling vault space, to having to make good on taking care of all these survivors, in perpetuity, when economy no longer exists.
i like this angle and never thought about it this way! i do view it a little differently than insurance though because unlike with insurance where the concept of general danger/risk is always an inevitability throughout life, nuclear threat could drop to a level that makes the vaults unnecessary. if the peace negotiations go through (like they were said to be on the verge of) and cold war threats settle down enough, then the company could be at such a net loss after investing everything into the vaults that i could definitely see a point where Vault-tec decides to drop them and rule the world rather than risk bankruptcy. also a motivation of people like Bud & Hank is to wipe everyone else out so that it's only likeminded individuals left.
Love the reaction my mans, wouldn't be watching this series if it wasn't for you guys. Much love ❤❤
I know you guys do more movies than shows, but this episode made me realize one important thing... you definitely need to watch What We Do In the Shadows. ;) And hey, the series is a follow up to a movie so it has both!
5:59 "I need her Red flags to start going off." But.. But... Lucy has no Red Flags, at best she has bright Yellow ones. She is too innocent.
Yall muh new favorite channel doing this sort of thing! Fuckin 🔥 great stuff ! Cant wait to see yalls final 2 episodes of this series. I loved it episode 1-8 , just a great representation of what Fallout is and can be! Ok time to go play some Fallout 4
It's so funny you guys are binging the episodes , Ari is wearing the same sweater, but Miss Denise is employing wardrobe changes..Ari, typical guy... Denise, A lady who always looks her best.
15:16 this is a nod to 'The Dukes of Hazard' TV show in 79' to 85'. Sorrell Booke played Boss Hog, a political 'Good Old Boy' and antagonist. He would wear a white suit in most of the shows.
YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD I POPPED (pause) WHEN THE NCR FLAG WAS SHOWN
I’m eating my leftover pizza whilst watching this😎
Ghoul charisma level is definitely maxed out. Plus the gunslinger perk!
9:15 that’s sadly too real. This also includes stopping ppl from leaking compromising stuff anywhere possible. Most recent exm: boeings initial whistleblower and security for the recent whistleblower.
Cooper's wife is the queen of gaslighting, the red flags really come out in this episode. She knows a lot more than people think, a couple times, when she gets angry, she lets out info that she shouldn't. Cooper caught on to that when she mentioned a special vault that is for management. Very rarely are there any "good" vaults. As a Fallout gamer, know all about the vaults and Vault-tec 😉
The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is a real place....lots of old Hollywood celebrities are buried there...I have been to several concerts, Dia de Los Muertos festivals and movies in the park events there.
There is a reason why gluttony is one of the 7
Can't wait to see your faces in the last episode
Seeing Maximus happy though 💔
I really love you two this show is amazing
You guys are truly awesome 😄❤️
Early morning watching your videos
In today’s world Vault Tech would equate to Blackrock and Vanguard 🤔
YESSSSS I LOVE YOU GUYS
The media knights are my best friends & they don’t even know it ❤
You need to make a reaction to calling that number. It works. :) You can even text it to get more content.
And then it pops!
NCR rangers for life.
I haven't seen or heard anything about the series apart from you guys reactions. Something struck me as the wife said we can get into one of the management vaults. Is the overseer of 33 the gouls wife ???
I'd recommend going back and watching all the episodes on your own - for copyright purposes, they cut quite a bit out from the show, including pieces of dialogue
@@tykroner1133 Yeah I know they have to. I'll take your advice and binge it tonight. 👍
this is not in the series but vault 11 is an example of a "not good" vault.
That phone number is real it is just somebody screaming i called it lol
Day 1 of Pacific rim: Uprising
Have y'all done Pacific Rim: Uprising?
How can you hold on to the URGE to see another episode?
Yall should really call that vault tec number 😂
You really need to play the games to understand how evil Vault-tec as a company was.
Why would you skip the conversation with overseer T_T
“It’s not about keeping humanity safe or progress, it’s a business.”
That is how politicians operate and all they believe in. No wonder the most heartless people end up in positions of authority. It’s all just paperwork and fear tactics, we can win if we wake up.
I love the post watch discussion
You both asked great questions in regards to what it actually means to ensure a vault's survival for 200+ years after nuclear fallout
Some vaults seem highly fortunate, while others are literally community sized coffins held together by 4 foot plates of steel
Everyone in a thriving vault seems to drink the kool-aid of truly believing they're on the right side of history- when in fact, the same company that told them to think that way in the first place, caused the very world event that put them in this predicament
Hi guys I love your reactions and I'm only just starting subscribing you I think only 2 months. I really recommend you " I am a hero" can pls make a reaction movie to this, it is a japanese movies and i know when its japanese i know it would be really great
Pretty sure vault 4 was a "good one" It was for the use of vault-tec scientists. Thats why they have Caviar.
How is Moldaver 200 years old? Umm cryo? IMO
11:03 I didn't even think about it from a both perspectives angle. I just yelled at the screen "She's gaslighting him!"
Have you guys considered watching final destination?
can you watch evil dead next please
Lets goooo!
The reason for Maximus not knowing about sexuality is most likely, that he lost his parents, before they could tell him. There is no requirement to be celibat in the Brotherhood (in the game-lore).
I get the feeling some Brotherhood branches have become a bit more...extreme since Fallout 4, in certain areas. Most other branches don't casually execute squires for failure, either.
“there’s bad vaults?”
oh sweet summer child…
Oh dear…there ain’t any good ones huh 🥲

Vault 69 🙋♂️ 999 females and 1 male
"Both perspectives" Barbara and Cooper had thier own experiences of war time. He went to fight and possibly die in a war...and she stayed home and worried about him.
Both perspectives are not equal. It was a classic female guilt trip, so she could justify her fears and actions. It doesn't.
Neat!
Both Perspectives. The phrase you are looking for was Gaslighting
Most people: So do you wanna go to your apartment so you and I can, you know......
Lucy: *dO yOu WaNnA hAvE sEx?!*
From what I've read since the series came out, it was part of the culture of Vaults 33 and 32 to not have much in the way of sexual hang ups And that's really not very well conveyed as a Vault 33 cultural thing, so the scene reads weirder than it is.
Essentially you've got this mismatch between a guy who has zero sex education and is taught that sex is bad and embarrassing, and a girl who has all of the sex education and a fair bit of experience, and who thinks sex is a fun way to pass the time while you're in a waiting room because that's just what people do.
We know from Episode 1 that Lucy is uncomfortably up-front and matter-of-fact about sex and reproduction. (Why is that?) Max, in the meantime, is not only entirely ignorant about sex but also not exactly the brightest of lights.
@@AretaicGames Who's uncomfortable? I'm not uncomfortable.
At this point in time Vault 4 is probably one of the best vaults out there and best places to live in general on this world
Really appreciate that y'all don't constantly shit on Maximus like some reactors do lol.
We actually like him quite a bit. He does receive criticism for some of his stupid decisions but he’s one of the more realistically written characters in the show.
@@OfficialMediaKnights Yeah, Max is my favorite among the main three and it is very irksome when (some) reactors act like he's evil incarnate instead of a mostly good dude who's a bit dense, haha.
Bit of background information: Every vault had a water purification control chip so they were able to use pure water. The water chip from Vault 33 was destroyed - see reaction of episode 3, 22:29 - so they're going to need another water chip or they run out of fresh clean water.
Cooper / Ghoul has used the T-45 power armor, which was deployed to stop the Chinese Invasion in Alaska. The T-51 followed years later, which was the main reason why the USA has won the Battle of Anchorage against China as you're literally able to wield a minigun with such a power armor. It was also used to keep down riots in the USA and was replaced by the T-60's.
And yes, some people are trying to bring a goverment back into the wasteland. The New California Republic was one example.
You would think they would have more than one water chip (critical spare parts). Just sayin' . . .
True, but I get the impression that "The Government" we see here was less an actual attempt to establish a governing body and more just a gang with a 'lawman' theme.
Can I just say how much I appreciate that your videos don't just end with the credits? The fact that you take the time afterwards to review and reflect on your thoughts and make predictions is so fantastic. Not enough people know how to consciously consume media and make meaning from it, and very few creators have the confidence to just let it be them and their thoughts on screen for the final 1/3 of the video. Well done!
This means a lot! Thank you for taking the time to show some love. We are so grateful to everybody that sticks around for the discussion ❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnightsTo be honest, I think you guys should actually watch Beetlejuice, it's an actual blast of a film and Tim Burton did it too!

"The Good Vaults": The 'intake trap' for the 'Test Subjects' in the hospital was built into the Vault BEFORE the war. This wasn't just some crazy scientists, this was VaultTec's plan *the whole time* on how to obtain test subjects after the war.
Anf that should tell you what you need to know about both the Vaults and VaultTec in general,.
Yeah…not really liking the vibe they’ve got so far 😂
@@OfficialMediaKnights Put it this way; of all of the messed up corporations in gaming media, Vault Tec is definitely up there in terms of "most messed up".

Just to give you a bit of background, Shady Sands is the very first town you encounter in the very first Fallout game, and your first mission is to go rescue the village chief's daughter Tandy. Then in Fallout 2 it's been built up into a really large settlement and renamed the New California Republic, with Tandy as the president. It's never appeared in another Fallout game since then (although the NCR as an organization is a big part of Fallout: New Vegas).
Well no. The NCR is a huge area covering a lot of CA and NV. Shady Sands is in it, it was the capital.
@@LudusAurea "Shady Sands is in it, it was the capital" - But is it in the game? That's what our Monty Python friend was talking about.
As far as I know, the city does not appear in any un-modded game post Fallout 2.
@@LudusAurea But in Fallout 2, Shady Sands is labeled as the NCR on the map. It’s about 100 years before New Vegas, so it hadn’t really expanded territory directly.
The enclave had a huge part in the vaults even before the war. That’s why that scientist knew so much about vault 33
Fun Fact: The Vault overseer in this episode is played by Chris Parnell, the voice actor for Jerry from Rick and Morty.
