heres what people dont even get.. Most of the people on set are below the line workers. That means once the production goes over budget those people are the first to get their jobs cut. So when the star is late it both pushes the production over budget and most of the people waiting will be the ones to lose their jobs over it.

11:00 the Star being 8 hours late can cost 50 million dollars because of the compounding costs for shooting at a location with full crew for essentially double the anticipated time. Union workers are only allowed to work a certain amount of hours per day, so if Dwayne was 8 hours later, that means an entire extra day of shooting… thus every ancillary cost doubled as well

Very easy for a film budget to bloat when a Star Actor refuses to show up-the Union crew of 100 + has to wait around while they get paid, then get OT when actor decides to appear. That doubles the days budget. Do that multiple times, and keeping other actors over their contracted time for shooting and their salary goes up on overages (I am sure Chris Evans and JK Simmons have other things to do). Fifty million does not seem an exaggeration at all.
Its not just the crew's getting paid that inflates the cost. Its *everything* the equipment costs money every time its used, thats why so many smaller or unknown filmmaking crews have to shoot film 16+ hours a day for 7 days a week, because every single minute of their time costs money that they cannot afford to spend without fucking up the budget.
The set's the actors and crew are on cost money. The piece of land that the sets are built on cost money. The film editing in post production costs money, the food, water/drink, recreational area's for movies all cost money.
Alot of times there are permits required for filming in certain locations (which require money) to quote the Angry Video Game Nerd when he was talking about making his AVGN movie "if you want to film a tree you have to get a permit from the Squirrel that lives in it"
Literally every action or equipment when making a movie costs money, alot of money, and when the lead actor in said movie never shows up (but still must be paid) it makes the cost of the movie *way* more extravagant than necessary.
Im honestly surprised that thanks to Dwayne Johnsons selfishness and arrogance the budget was *only* 50 Million extra.
All this time I thought a PA was a personal assistant. It turns out it's a Pee Assistant.

I worked with Rock on two films a few years ago, quite a few years ago now actually. This news surprises me. Got to spend a fair bit of time in a professional capacity with him and he's absolutely hilarious and very generous and thoughtful. People change of course but this isnt the guy I worked with ten years ago. Total pro.

I once had a 18 hr shoot followed by a 2 hr commute home just to have to wake up 2 hrs later and commute back for a 22 hr shoot. I know it can be boring for the actors but they should be professional as well
Well considering how expensive shooting spots are as well as the fact everyone gets paid daily if Rock is late by 8 hours, that would be more than half the day. And if you were to count it with actors, crew, director, even background actors it could escalate to more than 500,000 even in 2 days. So Idk, The Rock got too good of a cook and can't stop smelling :/

As someone who has worked on film sets it is possible to run up the costs exponentially. Certain shots are done in locations that are rented for x amount of time. So if we were filming in a person's home we'd pay a fee to the home owner for the days the house was used. If the production needed a house for 3 days but ended up using it for 5 the cost goes up. The rental cost + putting the family in a hotel etc. From there food & kraft services for cast & crew goes up depending on how many additional days they're required to be on set. Also the cast and crew are usually not filming near their residence which means hotel costs increases for extra days as well. With that the pay of each perspn on set goes up too. When i was a PA the rate was $200/12. Work 12 hours, get $200. If theres overtime that check is bigger. As you climb higher up on the production more skilled workers get laid more money, so director of photogtaphy can make $1000 a day. Also union fees & rules mean certain workers have to play by a different set of rules & costs. Its a lot

The studio should be glad it’s the Rock and not Hogan. The movie would’ve taken over 400 days to make due to him flying in and out of Japan.
As much as I can't stand Rock (and Dwayne Johnson even less so), I somehow doubt that after being called out for single-handedly killing the DCU he still has that much leeway and goodwill for a studio to put up with that instead of just firing his ass and make the movie a write off instead.
These streaming platforms got money to burn to attract more subscribers; one of them was eventually going to pay him a big bag. I would never pay him after watching Black Adam 🤣 but it’s not my checkbook.

The rock has been acting professionally for over 20 years. None of this sort of criticism has ever surfaced before. Suddenly hes back in WWE, doing the best work of his life on monday night cable TV and now this shit comes out about him? So my question is, what hollywood executive did he tell, "Fuck you, Ill go back to wrestling before I do that!", thats now engineering hit pieces out of spite?
