Can't blame Jesse for being a little "out of touch" with today's wrestling scene, to me it just shows that he's got enough on his mind to not cling to the "glory days" as much. But it was so nice seeing him back, even if just as a visitor, because you alway knew he loved the business. The biggest thing that could come from this would be my dream come true, Jesse's voice as commentary on the video games. That would be insane.

Jesse was my all-time favorite commentator. He was supposedly a heel, but only because he was honest and would call out how faces, especially Hogan, would get special treatment for heel behavior.
And it's proof that the only thing "special" about Vince is that he was a workaholic with no morals who inherited his daddy's company. Eventually wrestling will be a healthier place without him.

Schiavone and Jesse were also an underrated team. Working with Jesse was where Tony really was able to be more himself instead of acting the way an announcer was expected to act which was becoming passe.
One of Venturas best lines for me was at W6 for Warrior/Hogan... Warrior's entrance gets a huge pop as usual and Ventura responds with "I think that's a big mistake Ultimate Warrior is gonna be out of gas before the match even starts!" ... not word for word but that cracks me up to this day.

He was great as a heel favouring voice, but also put over the genuine excitement of the awesome occasions of events like WrestleManias 3 and 6, and openly marvelled at the sheer talent of babyfaces like Bret Hart and the Bulldogs: l still remember him remarking about Dynamite kid “when l was wrestling, l’d have to have a stuntman doing that for me!”
The worst thing about JR - to me - was Jerry Lawler sitting next to him. Talk about a guy who was as funny as bleeding inflamed haemorrhoids. Plus, even in the different pop-cultural climate back then, his dirty old man schtick was just embarrassing and off-putting after a while - not to mention unbelievably annoying and tedious, because it was just the same drooling lecherous horny grandpa garbage over and over and over, for YEARS. I don't mind occasional innuendos, suggestiveness, or racy jokes at all if they're clever, genuinely funny and delivered well. Quite the opposite, really. But absolutely NOTHING about Lawler's schtick was clever or even remotely funny. Not even in the cultural context of that era. Gordon Liddy" guy instead for a while and had his hip replacement surgery featured on WWF's TV. Did I say "weird"? Because that was WEIRD. By late 1987, he was a complete wreck at barely 44 years old and had to retire. Imagine Hulk Hogan having to hang it up between Wrestlemania III and IV...

I look at Ventura's time as commentator in the 80's a little differently. He started off as a heel, especially when he was doing his Body Shop segments. But, as he started to do more movies, while he didn't turn babyface, he became more of a neutral commentator, where he was simply calling things down the middle, regardless of who it favored.
Finally, someone else who loves the film Back To School with Rodney Dangerfield. Not an amazing film or anything, but it is nostalgic and entertaining.
Well he’s an older gentleman so I imagine his memory isn’t as great as it used to be, especially when he’s only met some people a handful of times and doesn’t really keep up with the product

Just noticed WWE referenced Jesse as former "UDT expert" and not a frogman not a SEAL. While Jesse was a UDT frog man from a time before they switched the name to SEAL I am guessing he told them not to call him a SEAL after his brethren broke his heart in favor of a lieing sniper.

I look at Ventura's time as commentator in the 80's a little differently. He started off as a heel, especially when he was doing his Body Shop segments. But, as he started to do more movies, while he didn't turn babyface, he became more of a neutral commentator, where he was simply calling things down the middle, regardless of who it favored.

Cool, I loved Jesse's commentaries back in the day - I always remember when Warrior and Hogan met at the Royal Rumble and ran into each other: "NOBODY MOVES!" And him and Gorilla were amazing together, Wrestlemania 6 for example.
