Golden beets are so sweet and delicious. And all of them can be quick pickled or canned, shaved thin and eaten in salads, roasted is good, borscht soup is delicious and so good for you too. There’s a fermented drink called kvass that’s made from fermented beets that I’d like to attempt. Lots of things to try!

Pickled Beets is an excellent option. I thought the same way about beets also. Until last year when I grew some and pickled them. Trying to grow some all this year with no success. (Weather)
    ❤ good luck ❤
    Recipe
*Trim beet stems 1-2 inches from the beat bulb.
*Cover washed beets with cold water in large sauce pan.
*Add 1-2 tbsp of vinegar or lemon juice to prevent a lot of bleeding.
*Cover & boil for at least 25 minutes or until beets are easily peirce with knife.
*Drain and cool in cold water.
    *Using gloves peel off skin.
*Cut into slices, chunks, or whatever way works for you.
*Jar up in warm glass jars.
    ^Brine^
In saucepan bring distilled water, vinegar, canning or kosher salt, and any other seasons you prefer to a boil.
*Remove from heat and pour over the beets.
*You can refrigerate and enjoy 2 days later.*
    Long term storage
Water bath 15-20min or pressure can.
*Beets have a sweet taste, even sweeter.
    ❤ love the content.

Girl…try quick pickling your radishes. I cut them up and heat vinegar with a little water, salt, pepper, and a little sugar and pour it over. Let them sit for an hour or so. They are delicious on tacos, salads, with rice and gravy. They are a game changer! I also pan fry them with onion in the skillet. Oooo…I didn’t like beets either! Pickle them the same way as the radishes. I wash them first, wrap them in foil and roast them. Once they cool, peel them, slice them up, put them in a jar, and pour that same brine over them. Once they cool, you can keep them in the fridge for a while! They’re delicious in salads!

You can make a mosquito trap with water and garden cuttings. After a couple of days females lay their eggs, then you add mosquito dunks to kill the larvae. It’s been recommended by an entomologist.

Do you think I can go ahead and put them in the soil? And they will come up in the spring? I am in zone 7B in Alabama! The weather has finally, began to cool off, and the humidity has come down! I’m trying to do lazy gardening!! lol! But I thought it would be a great idea!!inter planting some flower seeds also in it!!

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead

Hi 👋🏾! I store mine at room temperature. I have seen people store their’s in the fridge. Seeds can last for several years. I have seeds from 2020 that I used this year. Some seeds germination rate decreases but in general seeds can last for years. Those aren’t stupid questions at all! 🤗
