When I was in trouble in my high teens, I listened to this song so many times and was encouraged, that means GTR saved even Japanese boy in this world.
In many ways, this was my introduction to 'prog' music. Yes came out with Big Generator later and it began a deep appreciation for this genera of music.
In 1986 I was 17 yrs old & in 11th grade. I thought this song was THE GREATEST SONG EVER...I play this cassette tape over & over & over until I had to go buy a new cassette. The 80s...THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST ERA/DECADE OF MUSIC TO EVER COME AROUND IN MY OPINION!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Good grief Max Bacon’s voice live was out of this world.. just insanely good.. somebody please tell Justin Bieber this is what good singing sounds like
Look up Frontiers. They are an excellent cover band. I heard their version first then I came looking for the original. I prefer the Frontiers. They are also from Chile.🎤🖖
Thanks to GTR for some great memories of this time in my life. I was 16 with my first serious girlfriend is one memory. 1986 was just a really great year for me. I recently got the GTR deluxe edition CD with a live recording included.
GTR had all the elements of a fantastic band. Hackett, Howe and Max Bacon's solid voice. And they were a flash...came and went too fast.....Still love these guys! One album wonder...could have been so much more!
I'd been a huge fan of Yes and Genesis for about 14 years at this time, so I was stoked that two of my favorite guitarists were playing together in the band. I wish I could have seen them live - they put on a pretty damn good show! The whole band were exceptional!
Will miss Phil Spaulding RIP and basically any hope of these guys getting back together for one more live concert! I could almost guarantee that Max could sing this song just as good as he did in 86
Amazing song and times when it was not needed choreography, butt showing and a thousand of clowns around, JUST THE BAND AND PURE MUSICAL TALENT and TRUE MUSICIANS
I remember watching this band in UK in the mid eighties. Steve Howe played the clap in his solo spot while Hackett did some heavy rock shredding instrumental… Not what so was expecting. They played a bit of Yes music but sadly no Genesis…
Max's voice has always been a contentious subject but the truth is that he has a great voice, more akin to what metal band would like to have because of the high pitch, maybe that's why it wasn't well received by the proggers. It was his voice or both Steves's not so great singing, lol.
I saw them at the Warfield in SF and it was a pretty good show, but definitely seemed like more about showcasing two guitar slingers rather than being a composite band.
Steve Howe - guitar, backing vocals Steve Hackett - guitar, backing vocals Max Bacon - lead vocals Phil Spalding - bass, backing vocals Jonathan Mover - drums Matt Clifford - keyboards, backing vocals
Wow...to bad the band didn't last a bit longer...but I guess that's what happens to Supergroups like GTR...fyi...check out the King Biscuit Flower Hour live album of GTR...awesome performance....
Saw them at the Manchester Apollo, Max Bacon's home venue. He got a bit excited and fell backwards over one of the monitor speakers, H & H looked like they were wetting themselves. Good gig though.
As far as good pop music goes, it’s a fine song. But GTR seemed like nothing more of a record company idea. And since they were on ARISTA records, I’m guessing that’s what it was. However and Hackett were probably short on cash and attention, and someone had a half baked idea. I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. Can’t imagine Howe sharing the stage with another guitarist of acclaim. Don’t believe me, ask Trevor Rabin.
I really loved both the Steves, so I bought the GTR album the very week it came out - thinking it was going to be AMAZING. I gave this album so many listens, hoping it would somehow "grow on me". I so *wanted* to like the band and the record. But my first impression was only more confirmed with every listen. This album was *absolute shite.* 💩 Hearing it now, all these years later - it's exactly as shitty as I remembered. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. 🤣
listening to this tonight, still love it!
When I was in trouble in my high teens, I listened to this song so many times and was encouraged, that means GTR saved even Japanese boy in this world.
@Stefano Pavone Thanks for your comment. Listening to music was one of good opportunities for me to improve my English.
Such a class act! They will forever be remembered for this masterpiece. It reaches into the very depths of my soul and won't let go.
In many ways, this was my introduction to 'prog' music. Yes came out with Big Generator later and it began a deep appreciation for this genera of music.
My god! Max's voice is so clear and near flawless!
We were lucky to be there.
I completely agree

I love this song. . first heard it in college back in the 80's. Roomate bought the LP. We jammed to it often. God bless all who played in GTR!
Sound great live.. that voice .. wow
Has to be one of, if not the best live performance I have ever heard! This song is still very uplifting to this day!😊
OMG!!! They sound great live! Max Bacon's vocals....stellar!
Great job
Love this tune . Wish GTR WOULD OF STAYED TOGETHER A LOT LONGER .
A great Band, the sound of talent, all are másters! I remember this group always, saludos desde Chile

Never thought this would sound live that great!!! Outstanding!!
Why not? The musicians are from bands known for their ability to perform difficult/complicated songs live.
Seriously, tho. I thought same thing. Lead singer (forgot his name) has a really good strong voice. He did this song correct

Most songs don't sound that great live. They definitely pulled this off!
Farewell Phil Spalding..
Great live sound here..

Wow!!! Great live performance
love this song!
How Max Bacon didn't become a household name is beyond belief..
GTR had all the elements of a fantastic band. Hackett, Howe and Max Bacon's solid voice. And they were a flash...came and went too fast.....Still love these guys! One album wonder...could have been so much more!

The two Steves couldn't really work together in the long run due to personality clashes, from what I understand.
Please don t forger Phil spalding who played bass RIP 😢
Wow. Considering it's live, the vocals are incredible.
RIP Phil Spaulding.
They sound so good live.
Yep this is my Era. My teen years. The 80's. Nothing better. Man I miss those days
Me too

Waw, esta si que es voz! Absolutamente natural y pura, músicos y vocalistas realmente fantásticos... Amo este temazo ❤
Lot of talent in that band.
I did some photo's for Max in 1991 for his band who were touring pubs. He was a real character.
Still Love it!

q gran canción! , cuantos recuerdos buenos de aquella época. una banda de corta duración q dejó un gran legado musical
Awesome live performace. Impecable.

Holy shit. These guys in the intimacy of a club. Christ, I wore this tape out. This was 1986 for me. Still holds dear.
"Sometimes the hero must play the underdog" - and then some. GTR rules!
Eita, quantas saudades! 🤩Nossa audição era feliz e não sabíamos!
Back for more!!! Love the song!!!
Will miss Phil Spaulding RIP and basically any hope of these guys getting back together for one more live concert! I could almost guarantee that Max could sing this song just as good as he did in 86
Awesome vocals
This is great! Better than the album version
Amazing song and times when it was not needed choreography, butt showing and a thousand of clowns around, JUST THE BAND AND PURE MUSICAL TALENT and TRUE MUSICIANS

Zalig toch, die groep uit de 80's. Super mooie herinneringen.
80's MUSIC FOREVER :D
Increíble escuchar esta canción después de tantos años y en vivo. Agradecido GTR
When musicians had talent
Saw them at the Wiltern in Los Angeles ... great show. They weren't together long enough!
MASTERPIECE = Howe and Hackett together plus + Bacon!
hold the bacon....bad for cholesterol
+Jonathan Mover +Phil Spalding
My 80's. GTR=Superhero.
My college sophomore year.
I wore this cassette out, too.
Fan-effing-tastic. 🤗
GREAT JOB LIVE ON EVERYTHING.
The two top progressive rock guitarist in one band
Love this version 😍
Their dream didn't last. But we got this gem
Suuuuper grupo, Suuuuper cantante!!!
JUST WOW!
Sadly, bass stick player Phil Spalding passed away a few weeks ago.
That’s Incredibleee
Never knew Dana Carvey played keyboards for GTR!
The drum fill at 1:42 is epic.
Heavenly….

Ah yes, the great Max Bacon 🥓 👌

Ich fand es damals faszinierend, dass die Gitarren von Yes und Genesis gemeinsam erklangen
La mejor
even Hackett’s own group won’t show him

Ahhhh the 80s when music was just plain fun. No messages. No psycho babble. Just a good time.
"They don't write them like that anymore." Sadly.
Saw them at the Manchester Apollo, Max Bacon's home venue. He got a bit excited and fell backwards over one of the monitor speakers, H & H looked like they were wetting themselves. Good gig though.
This SOB could sing! Steve Howe looks like the dang Crypt Keeper today.
thank you
i thought i was the only one seeing that
Haah well dang..u know age does creep up.on ya eventually...but the music still great..:p
Tru Dat!
Seasons will change, you must move on. Don't be an ageist.
Es mi idea o siento que la voz de Bacon está con tremenda cantidad de autotune...🤣🤣🤣🤣. Aguante los cantantes QUE CANTAN.
Did they have auto tune back in 1986?

Desastre musical total
Great song. But Howe looks bored😂😂
Howe needs the lead most of the time . He’s too good to play chords
Dorky haircut (Even for mullets), dorky stage moves - But GREAT VOICE 🙂
Creo les sale mejor a frontiers ❤
Sounded very thin for a 6-member band.
Crap.
😢 furchtbarer Song 😢.Howe, ein völlig überschätzer Gitarrist 😢😢
