This was helpful, I'm halfway through the job on a '72 Olympique, your advice has been invaluable. Teeth on my drive axle all sheared off. Based on your video I learned how to remove the drive axle, which was severely locked in on the right side, and to replace the sprockets. Thank you.
just finished my restoration on the same machine, your videos really guided me along, BTW, manual states that the wider side of boogie wheels are to face toward the front of machine.
Black oxide bits! Drills right threw them! And correct, the one plates come off damaged! Happy to view these videos! Why the hell didn't they come factory where the parts where easy to change out! :(
Thanks for the excellent and comprehensive video. Several years ago, I pulled the axle shaft from a '70 Olympique which is the same procedure. After assembly though, and ever since, the axle seals, particularly on the chaincase side, leak chaincase oil badly. I wax extremely careful with everything i did. Any thoughts why the seal may still be leaking? I purchased OEM seals from a Bombardier dealer. Perhaps a small groove was worn in the shaft allowing oil to seep by but I didn't see anything that noticeable when assembling.
I just remember you doing this before. The story about all of the Elan's in the shed, is what I remember. Unless you told the story again. About the Elan's .. Not sure. You didn't put any grease on those shafts. No rust..
Andrew Birt Thanks, Thought he had talked about the Elan's before, I think, I'm going crazy, but I was right!! Not a Repost with his Video, Just his comment! Cheers!
Dan Black Every figure out if Kimpex sells the sprocket plates? Im working on a 1970 olympic and i think im gonna have to destroy the old ones to get it off.
Nice job, I am having the same party now :) I cannot find the gear retaining plates with the 9 holes at kimpex. I googled without luck can you point a direction please, I found a Ski doo part number but again no luck #501-0115 Thank you
Hay Louie. I learnt this from my brother in law. Heat your flanges up and put soldering paste on it. The heat draws it in and makes them easier to take off.
Was wondering Louis why you changed out the rear black sprocket assembly with the white rubber assembly. I see you did rebuild a rear assembly with the black rubber sprockets but you did not put on machine.

Thanks for the info!
Wider side??
@@reggydunlop5770 yes the boogies have a wide axle and a set of wheels on a narrow axle. the wider axle is to face front of machine.
These videos were so awesome as I was rebuilding my Olympique
Glad you like them
another great tutorial from powermodz, me and all my buddys can never get enough of your channel!! keep up the good work!
Im planning to make a modern boogie suspension, and i think the Elan has great points to draw from

This this video is extremely helpful, because our '69 AMF ski daddler has the exact same drive system! thanks!
i did this to my elan a few years ago. it was fun.
first! Hello from your fan from Russia!
Great video! What size stainless bolts are you using to replace the rivets?

mix some grease in the chaincase - itll be nice and thick
How is it you can fully restore an old elan and I can’t find carb kits for my 2000summit 700?
if you cool the axles and heat the bearing then they slip together much easier
Good job! Is there any small pieces of tubes inside of bolt holes?
What are the part no. For those outer hub? Kimpex said they never heard of them
Is there a shoulder on shaft for bearing on chaincase side?
How far from end of shaf?
Thx
I see the steel tube inside the old one, but i can't see inside of the new one.
