Why is that guy touching the metal before powdering?? Wouldn't that cause oil from your fingers to transfer? I've been powdercoating for a year now and I always clean all parts off with acetone and also pre bake them.

Not Military Service, just the Fire Service, I respect and applaud those who serve in the military.

Hey Louis< Did you guys talk about any possible issues with the aluminum chassis possibly warping? I had my mod project powdercoated I'm not sure what happened If it got dropped or warped from the oven but I noticed when I went to put my running boards back on something wasn't right. The rear suspension mount is about 2"s higher than the other side. My coater can't explain what could have happened. At this point I am looking for another F-chassis to start over again.

Michael from Ottawa PowderCoating here. It would all have to do with the thickness of the aluminum, as well as the temperature and length of time the item is baked at. We have had a few issues with thinner metals warping in the heat, but we try to advise the customer that if it is thin metal, there is a chance of slight warping. For Aluminum, we tend to bake the items for a shorter period of time to prevent such issues.

I did a restore of a '71 elan blizzard. I popped of the serial and id tags off and re riveted after the powder coating to keep them unblemished.
