He’s way too humble about his ability’s. Im a die hard eagles supporter, but this dude should have been HOF his first year of eligibility, he was so dominant from 09-13. I know everyone says Pendlebury is the greatest pie, but for me it’s swanny. I will never forget that 2012 ANZAC day match, he just dominated like I hadn’t seen a midfielder at the time. Now I hope that the AFL does the right thing and puts Cousins in the HOF.

You have to try and put others down to make yourself feel better. Says more about you as a person than Swanny. Well deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. I’m a Dees fan, but honestly that was a brilliant acceptance speech. Dane is Dane no matter where he is or who is there. Honest as the day is long (well night in Danes case 🤣). This speech and Jeff Thompsons cricket HoF speech were great

Dane was an explosive player, very attacking and I was so disappointed when he announced retirement after the ankle injury in 2015.

His father is too. I watched Swanny senior playing for Port every week in the Fred Cook years. Won 3 or 4 flags, then he went to Williamstown. A family of football legends.

Not doubting for a second that he is a great player, but if you think a man who is involved in bashing a security guard , kicking him in the head while he is down in a group, leaving the man with permanent brain injuries and on top, bailing from paying compo and not showing a inch of remorse, if you think they deserve hall of fame recognition, you need to get a grip on reality.
Hall of fame is based on sport not incidents outside of sport. Imagine if everyone judged you on the worst thing you’ve done? Get your head out of your arse.
Thanks for your comment. I wasn’t aware of the details of the incident and his failures of duty beyond. I have confirmed what you have mentioned here and in an instant my view of him has been altered. I personally have no time for cowards who run from their responsibilities and being accountable for their behaviour. And to then to clearly express no remorse and no regret is simply reprehensible.
