The Rev2 is one of the best synths Dave Smith ever made. OK, it doesn't have the bite that some other analogs have, but if you actually record music (rather than play with synths in your bedroom) you soon find out that many of the showy, shouty synths that impress on first hearing just don't work in mixes anything like as well as a Rev2.
Just ordered a rev2 and love seeing stuff like this. This is very tasteful and quite analog sounding compared to other rev2 sounds. Well done, Hope you'll explore teaching some day!!

Lovely stuff. I have a Rev 2 desktop arriving this week and if I can get anywhere near to the sounds in this vid I'll be happy. You got yourself a new sub 🙌🏼
@@wakerisefall yes! there were sounds like basslines or plucky stabs with a lot of body- that were simply not happening with the rev2. And just the sound of the 6- unmatched. I can see myself getting by without the rev2- but not without the 6. Give it a try!
Great sounds ! I love it :) I have a question, I reach to you for help : I own the Rev2 8voices. I can't figure out how to use the 8 voices, and i'm stuck with 4. Disabling the layer B doesn't seem to "free" 4 more voices. The only solution I found is to split the keyboard and have the same setting on layer A and layer B. Help would be much appreciated.
Thank you! And it could possibly be the preset you are on? If I were you I would make an initialized patch (blank patch) and see if you can use your 8 voices there first. Then if they work there it could just be the presets you are on. If it only does 4 voices it could be an electrical issue or maybe a global setting i don't know about. I'm sorry I haven't had this problem before!
@@wakerisefall Thank you for your answer ! I found out, so i'm going to answer there if anyone search for the same thing :) Apparently, it was a midi setting that did a feedback loop. I don't know exactly how it failed, but once i set the midi to USB in the transmission instead of midi output, I got my 8 voices working. Apparently, people encounter this problem when they are working with a DAW, but I had it without anything plugged. I hope it helps someone someday, peace

I believe the only effect I have on it is the R1 Reverb pedal which honestly could be replicated with any reverb. I think rev2 is known for trying to make "in your face" 80s synth leads when it really sounds nice when you pull back on the filter
@@wakerisefall yeaa that was one of the things that really surprised me about it when i got it because most videos are using it in a very “new synth wave” “funky” type way when it’s perfect for textural sounds

Hello nice patch! Want to get something. I have limited budget maybe max. $1500 but I see that the only good option looks like digital Jupiter Xm, or Take 5, but I am not sure about Take 5... Or the only way is to wait and save up more? Which will take a bit long time. What are your thought? : )
Thanks! I spent about that much on my rev2 used so that is always an option too. I don't know too much about the Jupiter XM but I've heard good things about the take 5. If your budget is 1500 and you really want analog it may benefit you to keep yours eyes open in the used market for a rev2 because it ticks so many boxes.
@River Dawson I've heard people say you get a prophet 6 if you want to sound like the 70s and an Ob6 if you want to sound like the 80s. So it's always had my attention. (But if I could afford any prophet it would be a prophet 5 forsure). This is of course after I get a matriarch like you.

It can have more bite and heft than most people realise … research “voice component modeling REV 2” …
