    Great fish selection, awesome tank, it's so refreshing to see someone use a monster sized tank not just to cram in a load of pacu and Arowana but to give smaller fish a good quality of life, nice one mate

    Thank you for the kind words. I vacuum the gravel as I change out 25% of the water once per week; it takes me about an hour. I have a magnetic algae scraper which makes cleaning algae off the acrylic pretty easy.

    I made a gravel vac that is 50" long out of 2" PVC. It takes some effort to vacuum the bottom, but it's worth it...I like to have substrate in my tanks and I think the fish do too.

    Wow what a beautiful selection of fish! Normally with a tank this size you just see it filled to the max with big cats and arrowana and big mean cichlids! I love the selection you chose because it’s very natural and you got a great variety. I love the big mean cichlids with the variety of schooling fish including those beautiful wide bar silver dollars and the clown loaches and I love the pink tail chalceus I really want one! Great tank ! Good job not overstocking and making a true habitat! Well done

    This is more of my style. Most people with tanks this large would have some huge fish in them but those huge fish would barely have enough room to move. I would do something more like this, with many smaller fish so each fish has tons of room.

    • @7ItalianStallion
      @7ItalianStallion 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      WILD THINGS the best thing would be to not imprison any fish or animals of any size so that they have the most space ever... In nature. After a few years of the aquarium hobby I realised how wrong having animals as pets are. Haven't bought an animal as a pet in years and never again will I. It's wrong and depressing unless you have no life and want to sit in your house watching fake nature (animals being trapped waiting to be fed).

    Hey Travis. I couldn't reply to your post directly so I'll just post a new comment here. The JD is mellow; he plays nice with all the other fish. I think when you grow fish out together (like I did with these), they are less prone to be aggressive towards one another, but sometimes certain fish still end up being hostile. Oddly enough, I had to get rid of a big Clown Loach because he would beat up on all the other fish at feeding time...he was a maniac. I've had a few JDs over the years and I've never had one that was aggressive. Sounds like you ended up with a mean one.

    that's an awesome tank!!
    knowing me, i'd have a bunch of guppies for a breeding tank. Or a betta sorority. Or a single arowana. Or an Oscar or three with a pleco. Or about 6 angelfish with a few other smaller fish. Or I would put a bunch of nano/small fish in there like oto cats, ember tetras, and endlers with some RCS.
    i'd probably have to include cory cats somewhere and somehow in the stocking

      If filtration is done right, he doesn't have to. Except to change filter floss 1x a month and vacuum the bottom twice a year. If filtration is even righter, he might just need to stir it up and change out the floss and done.

    I had to sub your channel bruv. I built my first acrylic tank in April 2015. I ordered the panels pre-cut and it was shipped to my house 2 weeks late. Needless to say they forgot about delivering it and it stayed in 30 degree heat for the 2 weeks. It arrived and I accepted the shipment as it was all beautifully wrapped up. To cut a long story short, the panels were warped. I had to buy extra clamps and wood in an attempt to straighten the panels for cementing/welding. Instead of an 8 hour build, it turned into 3 days, as I was running around trying to source other equipment to assist in the straightening project lol. Eventually it was done and even though I am not totally pleased with it, and it does not look as good as yours, I love it and it is pretty decent considering the material I had to work with. It takes center stage in my home and I have since spoken to the supplier, whom has since given me large discounts on the acrylic on my other 2 tanks, which I may add is really wonderful. But your tank is absolutely huge, Magnificient! My largest tank at the moment is 4.5ft x 2.2ft x 2.2ft. Acrylic is really beautiful. Keep on fishing. Oh it weighs about just over 200lbs.

      +Watch it That's a bummer that the panels arrived warped, but glad to hear you were able to make it work!

      Thanks bud. Since getting straight panels, it's a breeze to build. Flame polishing, very easy. Learnt how to build these tanks watching Joey 'The King of DIY.' Amazing kid. Anyway thanks for replying. One day I may get a big enough room to house a monster tank like yours. Later.
