    I've never find Discus so gorgeous and interesting until ive found this tank! its a really good tank size per discus number ratio and they behave so naturally swimming around and exploring, they usually stay still cramped in tanks where they grow until there's not enough space to move.

    • @Bradly640
      @Bradly640 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TheNajSD maybe but I'm not so sure. While the tank is beautiful, it is actually somewhat sparsely planted. I see a lot of ferns and anubias which are more low tech. Also the lighting looks fairly low. Also, Discus fish don't like ph change. You could be right though.

    • @TheNajSD
      @TheNajSD 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Bradly640 On a smaller 10 gallon tank, you can get by without CO2 for the most part with proper setup and management (just don't expect fast growth). But this tank? I suspect the depth alone would trigger problems that CO2 would resolve. From what I can see they went all out on the tank. And a professional inline system would work great here while maintaining the minimalist appearance of hoses, etc. I agree that Discus do not like significant pH changes but you can manage the CO2 and pH together with them. I'm sure their water conditioning system is just as perfect as the tank is. Also, the CO2 would help manage algae thus saving time, money, and help stabilize the system (which may be partly why the lights are low?!). Just my perspective.

    WoW!!! Very Very exquisite all around!! This is a dream tank for many including myself.
    I am curious about those Discus, were they HECKLE Discus??? The reason i ask; well i bought 6 a few months ago that look almost exactly like & was told they were Heckle. I thought they were wild discus, but unsure. However, i did get them for cheap cheap@ $40 each. I seen same fish on a diff web site for over $200. And too it cost me $125 to overnite them still cost less.
    Someday in very near future i will build a similar aquarium in an addition on my house as a centerpiece, then maybe build my 180s & 125s into the walls(accessing from another room(crawl space) to clean,feed,etc,.. Think it would be overkill to have like two tanks(one above the other) in at least two of the walls?Basically having this as my fish room, the tanks built into walls other then having an isle maybe two dwn the center? Idk though,.. i feel it would take away from the centerpiece (1,000+gal tank).apologies for rambling,.. just that I luv this kinda shyott!!!
    ENJOY YOUR DAY Folks!!

      vacuum nut I had a 150 gallon tank and your right to keep discus one has to change water, clean gravel, and test the water. With the right equipment such as a hose with an adapter on the end that drains and fills the tank with water. I loved going out after it rained at night and pick up worms crawling on the sidewalk and drive wave. I even bough live worms at the pet store to feed my fish. This made the colors really thrive and the colors of the fish get a deep rich color. It was expensive setting up and maintaining my 150 gallon. I can’t imagine a 1000 gallon. This guy probably gets someone to clean his tank.

      Around 8350 lbs

    • @texasfossilguy
      @texasfossilguy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rule of thumb is 8.5 lbs per gallon. Divide by square footage and thats the weight per square foot the minimum support needs to hold. A definite reinforced concrete slab is required or steel beams if elevated.

    • @texasfossilguy
      @texasfossilguy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way to know how much you can put in any building is to take the fridge and divide by its footprint and then the square foot equals what you can put up against a load bearing wall in gallons if you want to back track it.

      Although I do love every discus and all their colors, I believe that this individual was going for the whole natural look, if you notice, everything in this tank is so simple and not one thing takes away from the whole aquarium.

    • @Jaxonthelegend1
      @Jaxonthelegend1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      jessemunoz1 that’s true, I guess they didn’t want the fish to be a highlight but blend in with the environment. Personally I’d at least replace them with wild heckel discus, not to bright like red melons but not too dark like turquoise either... at least you can see them anytime you look over without having to search

    I'm reminded of the early 1990's when you could acquire live-rock from anywhere in the whole world, pure. One single two-pound piece - in some time- would literally Explode into a virtual zoo of reef life. Absolutely anything could and would eventually show up. It was an absolutely astonishing experience. I have seen land-scaped fresh water tanks alike the one above that even National Geographic could not have found. Gorgeous. Unbelievably gorgeous. These 'custodians' of these creations are every bit as much Artists as aquarists. Make no mistake. Truly Beautiful.
