    I used to watch his channel and feel very happy when I was a kid. Now I know why I miss his show so much because of the joy and sense of humour he could bring to us. Gordon is no match with this legend.

      +Kunta Kinte 4:13 the lobster is movin if it was cooked it be read maybe he stabbed it in the head in the brain thats how lot of people do it... anyways pretty common chinese cookin to use creature thats still movin and chop it up as you go that is a path to getting arrested in some places in america

    I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid! One of my favorite parts was the opening of the fortune cookie...I always wished I could be one of his special guests joining him at the table so I could eat what he made!!

    I remember watching this show back in the early 80s .This was guy was very funny ,but yet he was extremely talented in Chinese Oriental Cooking with a Wok .I miss Stephen Yan.I wish they would bring out a DVD box set of him .

    Some of the stuff he does I have not seen anywhere. I'm on a chinese cooking video binge, trying to learn cantonese cooking. You can always learn from this resourceful Chef Yan.

    I had just bought a satellite dish and was getting channels from everywhere. My wife and I loved this channel.we would laugh so hard. We bought one of his woks. That was 45 years ago. I’m glad I found it on TH-cam. Still a great show.

    I miss watching this show. This was my favorite cooking channel and really admire Stephen Yan because of his humor and expert knowledge of chinese cuisine. Funny thing is no one knows of his whereabouts from the time he retired in show business. Does anyone know where he is now?

    There was hardly anythung on the three channels I got over the air as a kid but I never changed the channel when Yan was on , so nostalgic to watch again years later.

    This brings back memories of watching this on cbc in the early 90s and going to Vancouver's Chinatown on a regular basis, so beautiful, prosperous, incredible food and the best people you could meet.
    A terrible shame what has happened to a once vibrant neighbourhood.

    I love this guy. I was cracking up. And he actually is a good cook but I love how he just has fun with it. We could all learn alot from him. Have fun in everything you do, otherwise you will take yourself too seriously and become too critical of everything. And the mean vein of all of it comes down to love. No one is perfect even if the world demands perfection. And then that leads to the question what is perfection because what the industry standard of perfection is isn't actually perfection, but rather it is generic and uniform. There is no such thing as perfection when it comes to human standards of excellence. Which isn't a bad thing because that means we all have an opportunity to improve.

    Today shanghai is more big that new york is amaizing! I stay here and cross the new bridge over yangzeng great place to take a pictures or the old city in the edge river with pearl tower and pudong in the background.     For some odd reason, I don't miss the "self-addressed stamped envelope" culture of the pre-digital age. OMG, as a kid, I drove my mom crazy. "What do you mean you need TWO stamps?" That's back when postage was only $0.20, and it was STILL considered expensive.

    The many pockets in that Chinese shirt are there to hold as many packs of cigarettes as possible, and a big lighter. (Just the average day's ration of ciggies a traditional Chinese man would puff.)
