    About Yan Can Cook:
    After receiving his formal restaurant training in Hong Kong, Chef Martin Yan immigrated to Calgary, Canada where he was asked to appear in a daytime news program to demonstrate Chinese cooking. The rest, as they say, is television history. In 1978, he launched the groundbreaking Chinese cooking series 'Yan Can Cook' on public television. Infused with Martin's signature humor and energy, Yan Can Cook has gone on to become a global phenomenon and has won multiple James Beard Awards.

    Of what Yan's about China it's actually Cantonese. Even the analogy of rice inside the rice pond symbolise wealth is a Cantonese saying.
    The traditional China is actually Cantonese. Hope people will realize today's China is not the China Yan described in this video. The Cantonese had been marginalised by today's China which run by a bunch of northern barbaric goons.

    Cholesterol is biosynthesised by animal cells, so yeah plants would not have it. Plants do however make a similar compound, phytosterol, that compete with cholesterol so may reduce the latter.

    • @WastrelWay
      @WastrelWay 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is true. I'm always amused by the claim that a certain vegetable or fruit is "cholestrol-free." Also amusing is the claim that meat (like the steak that Yan chopped up) is "gluten-free." Hamburger places sometimes brag about that, but all they mean is that their meat isn't adulterated with a grain.
      There are fatty fruits like avocado that can raise your cholesterol, but as you say, it's generally the good cholesterol, not the bad stuff.

    What youre talking about is BROWN rice. You can live on it. A friend of mine lived a whole year on just brown rice. I once had only white rice to eat and I was starving all the time and eatin every 2 hours. Try it yourself . The white rice is brown rice which has had the top 7 layers removed. What's left is pure starch. Nothing more. So please, find out for yourself and stop telling people how great white rice is.
