  • The Real No Butters No Oil Challenge and this new hair trend is not for me. To me...NO means NO... not just a little bit.
I think the real issue is, "we as a people" are over using these items and just now realizing that we don't need as much product. And due to recommendations like "co-washing," we are damaging our hair by not properly cleaning our strands.
But this is just my opinion, what's yours?

Sadly, there's no magic potion that will make your hair grow faster. Yet; good news is there is much we can control by the way we treat our hair.
To promote optimal hair growth, you have to "feed" the hair from the inside and the outside. Proper diet, which includes adequate protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and B vitamins, is essential.
"Feeding from the outside" means using shampoos and conditioners that target the scalp, as well as hydrate the hair.
The speed at which your hair grows depends on both genetics and the shape of your follicles. Here is more information about the Hair Growth Cycle, www.atsdr.cdc.....

Have you tried using a liquid/water to moisturise/hydrate the hair then a water based leave in conditioner, followed by a light spary oil then a butter like mango to seal in the mositure?
I use rose water mixed with a few drops of black pepper oil to spritz my hair, then apply a light creamy texture water based leave in conditioner, then I spray with a light oil and seal with a mango butter concoction. This method works to keep my hair moisturised consistently compared to when I use leave in conditioner alone.
The key is not to over do it or be heavy handed where your hair is dripping in oil... another key is to make sure the cuticles are open to receive this mositure and it's not just sitting on your hair and don't apply oils and butters directly to your scalp every day. I use jojoba oil with rosemary oil while massaging my scalp once or twice a week, no more than that. As a result of doing this consistently my hair feels extremely soft and moisturised so much so that I can go a day without putting anything on my hair and just let it be.

    • @LoXena

Yes exactly. I hair got matted from this method. My hair never gets matted. Gels of mousse are not for me.

    • @Destinyfirst
      @Destinyfirst ปีที่แล้ว +1

The popularity of this method came from hairstylists with "4c" hair. The main take aways from this method are to wash your hair every 5-10 days (based on your activity level and how dirty you hair is also how itchy your scalp is) with a well formulated shampoo and conditioner, detangle during the conditioning step and activity condition, like instead of adding more conditioner add water first, squish to condish etc... Then when it comes to styling use botanical gels or mousses, but what ever styling product you use is based on the result you want. There are other things like strengths of shampoos, I have 3 different types of shampoo (all purpose, moisturizing all purpose and moisturizing shampoo) and only 1 conditioner. I have high density, fine textured hair. It's passed my boobs and it takes me 1 hour from my first shampoo to styling with gel to do my hair. Drying takes another hour and I'm good for the rest of the week until my next wash. My pillows aren't greasy, I'm not spending hours washing my hair, my hair is always shiny, always clean (which promotes hair growth), and people constantly ask if it's my real hair. I've never felt better and I'm not afraid of having to re-do my hair. This "trend" is great and I highly recommend everyone try it. And not only for one wash, I implore you to test it out for at least 30 days because it works and my hair has always been long but this is growth I've never seen before. I get my hair cut every 4 months and at month 2 you can't even tell I got my hair cut. It's nuts. Also if you think about it, if you've ever gone to a hairdresser they do not put oil or butter in your hair after they wash it and style it. They just put heat protectant or just style it as is.

I have been natural for longer than some hair influencers have been on planet earth. So I will do what works for me. @@JheriJohnson But you have washed and condition it why is it still dry? The water should already be in the cortex of the strand and the conditioner should seal it in by lower the pH after the shampoo risen it
Oils and butters create a lubrication on the strands that allow it to be more malleable, reduce the natural coarse feel of your hair and potentially cover the natural ashy colour but it's not necessarily adding any moisture aka water to the hair. Unfortunately for me heavily oil based products make my hair hard so I use a cream either separately or on top, as I like coating my strands to balance the natural rough coarseness of my hair.

As long as the product don’t use a high amount of oils and butters, it’s good to use. Going without product, like what was done in the video, will definitely cause damage to one’s hair.

an other trend is youtubers claiming that they try the no oils and butters challenge, of course they don't do it properly and say : oh this doesn't work for me! There is tons of videos like this.
They use clickbait titles for their videos and just want the thousands views instead of their regular hundreds video views...
Yes that is the real trend... so open yours eyes ladies and sees what is going on... Some youtubers are just here to use you to reach their goals... they don't care if you receive good informations...

I kind of understand it because oil sits on top of the hair making it hard to get moisturize into your hair

Folks scream "natural" until they see natural. Then they run straight for the serums/oils, blow dryer and flat irons. No ma'am... I'll stick to the one and done "creamy crack." 🥴
