I was thinking the same thing, they could have chosen "Begin Again" or "Everything has changed" as a representatiom of the album, but instead, they decide to use the poppiest song on RED, to present the album as a country record, it was like them subtly saying "We are not going to give you that grammy with that song in it", haha.

Begin Again is the only pure country.

Red is the only album in this category nominated for Album of the Year so I think she expected to win this award.
But she lost because Red is not 100% country. The same happened to Come On Over by Shania Twain.
I only discovered Kacey last year so I've been playing her albums non-stop ever since and this album totally stands up to everything that has come after it. So excited for more new music from her.

Red is my second favorite TS album (only to Reputation) but Kacey's album was REAL good!!! And the class Taylor showed when she didn't win was amazing!!!

All Too Well and Stay Stay Stay aren't very country at all.
Their chord progression is very common in Pop Music which which make them sound very poppy.

Same Trailer, Different Park is a perfect country album with an influence of Americana. That's why it won over other nominees. Red has pop influence, Night Train has rock, Based on a True Story and Two Lanes of Freedom are bro-country.

My favorite artist, Martina McBride presenting to my favorite "new" artist! Love that Kacey won, she really deserved it. I own Same Trailer Different park on vinyl and LOVE it. P.S. I recommend buying it on vinyl, the sound can't be beat! :)
As much as I loved Red and I mean All Too Well, Begin Again are in there, it doesn’t sound too country for me. Unlike Kacey’s Same Trailer, Different Park, who I also love. It’s pure country with such incredible songs like Merry Go Round and Follow Your Arrow. Red, in my opinion, should have won Album of the Year instead.

I really do think that Red deserved this award, but I'm glad that Kacey won it. Same Trailer Different Park was an absolutely beautiful and amazing album, and I don't even think she's at her biggest yet.
Another thing, Taylor is definitely still country. I hate how they played I Knew You Were Trouble. It made her seem like she's not country anymore. If you actually listened to the album, you'd know that she's still country. It makes no sense as to why they'd use that song instead of Red, which did really good on the country charts, and is still charting.
I could not agree with you more! Exactly how I felt 6 years ago and still how I feel now. But also so happy for Kacey’s later success with Golden Hour!

There was a few country songs on Red (Begin Again being the most obvious candidate) but they went and used the least country (but most popular) track as the promo for the award - being 'I Knew You Were Trouble' - and overall, the album was not in the country genre. Kacey was the obvious choice for this award. She has the potential to be the most critically acclaimed country singer of this decade. What a legend!

To me, Red sounds a lot more like a country album than it does a pop album. Tbh, the only songs in Red that sound more pop than country to me are the albums big singles 22, I Knew You Were Trouble, and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (coincidentally those were the songs that pop record producer Max Martin helped make). The only non-single I can think of that sounds more pop than country is Starlight.
All of the albums in this category were amazing, but Same Trailer definitely deserved the win. That’s saying something! Incredible album

Same Trailer Different Park is so underrated. Aside from the obvious Merry Go Round which is a damn masterpiece (imo) and Follow Your Arrow, you also have Keep It To Yourself, Blowin Smoke (brilliant), It is What it is, Silver Linings (inspirational) and Step Off (another personal fav).

Only one song had dub step. And there are other two pop songs. The rest 13 tracks are country.

Yeah, she is. Her music is more about life than say romance. Merry go' round, Blowin' Smoke, are her two biggest hits. Personally, I like "Silver Lining" to her mew single Follow your arrow.
I usually listen to one or two songs on albums. But I could listen to her whole album with maybe skipping one or two songs. There's not that many artists I could say that about.
