Yep. Not a country guy here. And I'm also gay. But I love this album. And I have to say Kacey is so beautiful I am having some kinda feeling about her lol. Fuck .
I think Shania Twain is the godmother of that, and Carrie Underwood kinda falls in that category too. But Kacey is really versatile and creative, I'll give her that.
@@jonathanknox Yes! I almost forgot that I listened to this album a few times! Kacey Musgraves really did that! I hope she wins a few awards this Sunday.
Reminds me of 60s-70s folk music way more than calling it country. I just heard someone covering this on The Voice, so had to hear the original. Beautiful voice and band helped bring this magical quality to the song. Lovely, just love!y to.listen to her.
I am addicted to this song. It's ethereal, other worldly, like cotton candy sunsets on Oahu. I'm claiming it as my free spirit, I did it my way, at an easy pace, theme.
Her new album is perfection from start to finish! I especially love Velvet Elvis. Hope it wins her another Grammy. Her music and voice has always been so pleasant.
Mewesical, awesome description! Couldn't agree more. Love how authentic and real she is, enlightened and constantly evolving. Pretty inspirational overall.
When she sings, "Old soul waiting my turn. I know a few things but I've still got a lot to learn" - I lose it every time. Thank you Kacey. Your words - "waiting my turn" - made a whole bunch of us who have tried to live an unselfish life and are wondering what the hell is going on, why do we continue to get shit on . . . feel optimistic again about the meaning of life thing.
It's funny to read going through the comments how many people don't usually listen to country, but Kacey somehow brings something different to the table. I've been listening to Golden Hour non-stop since it came out! Her voice, the melodies, the lyrics content, and the sounds she increased to make the album sounds more eclectic... man, it's GOLDEN!! Really wishing her a few Grammys for that masterpiece!
Anna Jane Jackson Music, nicely put. I think its her great gift that no matter the changes in her sound from record to record, that honesty and realness shines through.
Golden Hour is one of those rare albums that doesn’t get old to me. I think when you see Musgraves do live performances like this one or others on TH-cam you can see she’s a talent that transcends studio production. Like Colbert says, “…that was beautiful.”
I believe I will be returning to this video. This woman obviously knows how to lay down a mood. The whole band was dialed in. Even the Director of the show with the camera work was spot on.... and can we talk about the outfit.... that was just the icing on the cake.
I used to listen to her a lot in 2020 and 2019 and she was like my fav singer i havent listened to her in a good while but this is nice to listen to again
That's all right she won the Grammy for album of the year I think she showed them🤔✌️ a marvelous effort from an amazing amazing artist keep it going Casey can't wait for the next record👍
I almost didn't listen to Kacey Musgraves' song, since I don't do country and I was pretty sure this wouldn't change my mind. Plus, I didn't know who she was. But the song had a James Taylor-eque sound for the first few chords ... so ... I kept listening ... all the way to the end! I loved the lyrics, the vocals, the instrumentation, the subtle banjo, the strings, the change in the song when the verse about Beijing starts ... really, the whole thing is wonderful. I bought it on iTunes! Best of luck, Kacey Musgraves!
I feel ya, Tony Ludlow. Was never a country fan myself either... Morton Baldwin said it beautifully ( I love the idea of us all being a "band of merry followers" ), Kacey truly is on a level all her own
Morton Baldwin, oh hey man! Actually forgot I'd replied to you before; I should've recognised the nice turn of phrase even if I missed the name! XD But nope, can't believe it; makes me a little sad for those 10 people tbh. They're really missing out!!
F E my friend, we just need to keep flying the flag and telling those 'converts to be' they simply need to follow their arrow. Keep up the good work. Mo
This song almost made me tear up. The lyrics are relatable, the groove is meditative, and her voice hits you right in the gut. The song just strides forward until the very end with so much self-assurance and grace, just like the message of the song.
The singer is conveying a few key ideas with these lyrics: Embracing a relaxed pace: The repeated phrase "I'm alright with a slow burn" emphasizes that the singer prefers a laid-back approach to life. They value patience and don't feel pressure to conform to societal expectations of rushing. Finding pleasure in simple things: References to enjoying a "California sunset," rolling "another one up," and appreciating the scents of incense and sandalwood all suggest the singer finds joy in these simple, unhurried moments. Inner peace and contentment: The line "Old soul sitting in my bones, golden hour, happy at home" paints a picture of a sense of peace and self-acceptance. Enjoying (likely) marijuana: The line "Good in a glass, good on green" hints at enjoying marijuana. The mention of rolling "another one up" further supports this interpretation. Overall, the singer is likely expressing these things: Importance of living at your own pace: Rejecting the rush and stress that often comes with modern life, finding satisfaction in slowing down. Appreciation for simple pleasures: Deriving joy and relaxation from small moments and sensory experiences. A sense of autonomy: The line "I'm gonna do it my way" is a declaration of choosing their own path and way of living.

Wonderful song, gorgeous voice. It has such an atmospheric feel to it - lazy Summer days in a VW Camper Van cruising along the California coastline. Reminds me of Angus and Julia Stone.
I've seen a lot of comments about it's great for a country song, but the only thing country about this is her accent. This is just a great folk song written and performed by a country music star. But a damn fine performer and performance, no less.
That was basically my only struggle with marketing this as a country album. She definitely plays around with country influences, but the album is more folk/pop than country.
No, the guitar arrangement and the banjo is definitely country. If you listen to Taylor Swift's acoustic versions of her songs from 1989 and Lover, the guitar in them don't sound as country and the tabs and accents Kasey uses when playing acoustic guitar.
This song is country pop. It's not folk because folk songs have different arrangements. They she sings is even more country like an. The soft and beautiful melody makes it more pop.
