I just graduated, and we all got to submit a short video to be played in a slideshow. I helped one of my friends film an entire gear-up scene, and we literally built a cosplay chainsaw out of card board and random materials we had at work. So now the Senior video DVD has him mimicking the gear up scene, and ends as he says the iconic line “Groovy”

Sawn-off shotguns typically have a wider spread of the shot pellets due to the shorter barrel and lack of a choke (the choke is a piece in the tip of the barrel that can adjust the spread of the shot. You can swap them out for target, hunting, or different ammo types.) This allows you to "spray and pray" and is a much faster way to get some lead in a Deadite, since you don't have to aim... just point and shoot. At close range, it means a big ass hole, and at longer range, it means you are unlikely to miss.

If there’s any truth to it, Jim definitely would have had to be the one influenced by Bruce, as Jim didn’t get his big break until the early 90’s, well after Evil Dead 2 came out

There is a way that the first movie fits with the others and it's this: Ash went insane. In the first Evil Dead movie, when the camera angles got weird, that's when you can tell Ash lost his mind because from that point on, things took on a surreal quality. In Evil Dead 2, the inaccurate recollection of what had happened in the first movie was due to his mind blocking out most of it (the deaths of his sister and other friends because there would be a lot of guilt; he played the recording, he refused to believe Cheryl when she told them they were in danger, he killed Cheryl, Scott and Linda, he was the only survivor; the reason that he wasn't able to block Linda's death the same way was because he held onto her necklace), when he was briefly possessed after leaving the cabin, it caused a type of mania which explains the changes in his personality and the humorous tone of ED2 and everything following it.
BethM85 it could also be explained because of how the director of the remake explained that the book of the dead can repeat history and just changes a little every time, that could also explain why there are different characters in the remake.

I'm considering it this way because of Ash Vs Evil Dead, which is based on the first and second movies (they weren't able to get the rights back for Army of Darkness) and includes his sister, girlfriend and friends in the local legend of Ashy-Slashy in his hometown. The second movie is his warped recolection of what happened in the first (he remembered his girlfriend and only her because of the magnifying glass necklace; while he couldn't initially deal with the other deaths, he came to terms with over them decades).

I'm so happy this your job now. You might not believe me, but I used to HATE horror movies. I never watched them as a child and thought they were silly. But now, James, you opened my eyes to the best genre of film in existence-*horror.* From showing me Halloween ( my first horror movie btw) to Fan-made movies about classic horrors ( Never hike alone), you've made me love horror. I wish Annie didn't die here. She was such a badass! Especially because when it comes to the tricky nature of the deadites, that was a lesson she only needed to learn once. When Ash says "I'm alright now" she was *absolutely correct* in continuing her attack. She's already seen Deadites pull that card and thus has zero reason to trust it this time: so it's actually kind of refreshing that she doesn't at first.

This entire video was beautifully done and insanely well edited, I’m so glad that you’ve decided to do The Evil Dead movies but I’ll totally admit that one of the things that made me snicker like crazy was that sawed off shotgun bit, that was beautiful. I’m also really happy to admit that I learned more about these movies/the bts while watching these videos. I don't think anyone at the time of this movies released was expecting Ash to later go on to play poker with a talking dog (and his rabbitty thing companion), a robot, and Patrick Warburton.

I love the evil dead movies you have Bruce Campbell (ash) insanity on full display, awesome blood shooting out of walls and pipes, actually feeling for the main character and his decisions, extremely creepy scary possessions also the camera work is one of the most memorable things from the franchise
I think the green blood honestly is cooler anyway. It gives a whole feeling of just "what the hell is going on?" that this movie LOVES to make you feel

The evil comes from medieval times and eventually comes for Ash and the gang. Eventually, they defeat them by sending them... to the medieval times.
Yup. Time loop.
The evil never actually comes to the present from medieval times, tho. Unless it goes the normal route of waiting around for a few hundred years dormant in the forest. And Ash goes to the past, but doesn't return to the present (in the cave version.) He goes to the future. Not a time loop.
(Plus when Ash goes to the past the armies were ALREADY fighting the Deadites... and the "giant" sucked into the vortex is never seen again)
think official lore says around 1300ad the book goes missing, 1300ad is the time ash traveled to. Ash gets attacked again at the end during the present, so i guess they messed up and only postponed the evil.
@@sofakingonmynuts1438 That would make sense that the Deadites from the past transported into Ash's present but got sent back to the past again but it is not time loop coz Ash is now with it.
I dont know how canon it is but there are pictures of ash in the book from the past, it has his chainsaw arm. So... The present evil that opens the portal could very well know who ash is because ash beat the evil in the past, or the evil went to the past or an unknown location. The idea is the evil has been hanging around for centuries, waiting for opportunity
It's worth noting that the Kandarian Demon was already active in the medieval period before Ash arrived there. Not to mention the Book that appears in the third film is the one from the medieval period too. The only actual things which were sent back in time were Ash, some trees, the car and the Shotty (and some other random junk). None of which cycle back around to the cabin. The Ash that was sent back in time gets sent back forward in time along with the shotgun meaning that their path although it leads back in time is linear with no loop point and we can assume that the car after being sent back is left to rust and become a lost relic as opposed to looping back to become the car at the cabin meaning it's path is linear with no loops.
The Kandarian Demon itself is a hard one to tell with though and It's possible that one thing does loop around if we consider the Demons ability to access the thoughts and memories of those it possesses. The Demon from the Medieval period possesses Ash who has been brought back from the future. Through that possesion it would know what Ash knew then following Ash's return to the future the demon takes the long way round carrying Ash's memories through until it is awoken again in the cabin where Ash once again gets possessed. It's hard to tell with demons I suppose. Do they even experience time in the same linear fashion that we do?
