excellent demo of the new mc series lineup Dr Mix, for me the deep integration and possibilities unlocked by the Aria series is mind blowing now, these new mc grooveboxes are exactly what I have been after, and it would be nice to see how they handle being connected to an mx1 whilst in Ableton mode, I have an aria/ableton setup, and I dont think many people realize how powerful and groundbreaking that is.

So my pet peeve with modern POST 2000 beat machines is most of them only record and play back 4 bars or 16 steps before repeating. This would equate to counting 1,2,3,4 and then the beat repeats.. Where as on pre- 2001 equipment you could get 8 or 16 or even 32 and 64 bars or counts worth of beats recorded!! Examples of said capable machines: Roland MC505,DR202,SP202,DR660,DR770,DR880,TR707,TR626,TR606, and so on. Korg DDD series, Yamaha QY10,20,300,700,100,70 and 22,Yamaha RM1x,RS7000,SU700,RY series,Zoom boxes,MR series,Casio RZ1,Mattel Synsonics drums, and others! All allow more than just 4 counts or bars. Now we have an ENDLESS supply of 4 bar or 16 step only beat machines like: Korg Volca series,Yamaha AN/DX200 groove boxes,Arturia beatstep series, and other brands. Why??? Memory is dirt cheap..why only 16 step beats? So imagine my great pleasure when I heard Doctor Mix playing beats that actually play out 16 bars or 16 counts like the olden days! Wow.. 2020 is bringing em back THANKYOU!! I know I forgot Akai,Electribe and Alesis drum machines that also did right by the beat lengths.. But alot of new stuff still coming with only 16 steps or 4 bars.. Annoying and frustrating considering the high cost on these things. KUDOS ROLAND!!!

man....back in 2014 I emailed Ableton product suggestion team with this idea of having convert Ableton into a MPC type machine meaning using Ableton without a computer instead a sequencer machine that receives any type of format. Midi, audio(clips) and the ability to record tracks into it via inputs on the back and then play them back along in sync with any midi data ...you get the idea. Basically Ableton and a workstation keyboard mixed in one. I dont know what the heck they did , if ever read my email or not...but seems like Roland thought about it too and they are making money right now with this.

Such an un-generous screen for a $1k product. People say they want a no computer setup, and I like the hands on quick feel of no actual computer. Thing is a groovebox is still a computer, but your screen is the size of a decades old calculator.

Yeah, I just can't understand this myself either. It's rediculous. We're in 2019, and they are still making screens the size of machines from the 80's and 90's but even smaller on some. I have both the jd xi and the electribe 2, and the screens are pretty small. I have had bigger screens from the 90's and 2000's myself. Akai has the biggest one's mostly, and zoom.

So far the best video about this new instrument. Quite interesting groove box - just waiting from some more sounds and 'flows' of this instrument to make up my mind. I can see on booting there is system version 1.something. Will Roland be as good as at least Akai? Since I got myself MPC Live in last Christmas (and I didn't have to give my heart) Akai listened to users feedback and actually with system updates they fixed little bugs and greatly expanded capabilities of this instrument. On another hand - as far as I remember there was some quite annoying bug in MC909 which is up to now IMO THE best groove box on the market and Roland never care to get that solve.
Let's bring the popcorn, sit and watch.
Thanks, Doctor Mix - as always I've learned something from your video.

Funny how many people say this is overpriced. Back in the dark ages, 1981, I purchased a Dx7 for $2199 and QX 1 for $2499. So that was $4,600 for an 8 track midi sequencer and one synth voice with 32 impossible to program presets. So the mc 707 seems positively cheap to me.

How's the pads feel? Are they similar to the Maschine pads where you don't have to push them down? I love my Maschine, but not having to rely on a PC would be great for live performances. Do you think you'll replace your TR-8 in your live setup with this one? Thank you for sharing the joy of making music with all of us.

It's bad UI design that it says "This project is not saved.." when it means to say "The current project". That's confusing and can lead to mistakes.
