Hey buddy thank you very much for walking me around the inner workings of the machine. Lovely demonstration and very helpful and thorough. I also like your stinky LG washer video.

Most commonly a washer will shake like that when its out of balance. If the load can be distributed equally on the springs, the inertia will shake it. As a result, the shocks will wear out extremely fast. Rule #1-ensure the unit is level. Then replace the shocks, and last, dont overload thw washer.

Hey so that shocks was the problem?

Those shock absorbers are not really shock absorbers. They are just metal tubes in plastic sleeves with some grease. What they should do or an aftermarket company should make is a proper shock absorber that has pneumatic capabilities and would act as a real dampener. Frankly, they are really cheap junk.
We have one of these LG washers and I have replaced the spyder alloy part that attaches to the drum and then the motor bolts onto it also. It cracked badly and the drum was really out of balance. I did replace all 3 "shock absorbers". Put the thing back together and I am finding a WE code that means unbalanced. I tried re-levelling the unit. The clothes are very heavy and wet at the end of the cycle. Wife is not happy and very vocal about this. So I installed new springs and bought some small absorption pads for the feet of the machine. I have the top off and ran a good-sized load on the normal setting, what I noticed is the drum is moving around a lot. The motor did not seem to be at a high enough speed. Stopped the cycle and adjusted the spin cycle to extra high speed. The drum stopped shaking so much and the motor ran at a high speed, much smoother. The clothes came out as dry as they should. No, WE code. Progress, but now I am getting water on the floor and found the big grey front seal has a rip and that will need replacement. Also noticed that the hot water valve is corroded and has a tiny bit of water on it at the top, guess I will have to replace that too. Frankly, I am getting to know this damn washer way too well.
Remember the old ones that ran for 20 years and never broke?

At this point I think you should just replace it!
I am on my 2nd lg washing machine. My first one was a lg intellow washer 7kg 1200spin and ran for years with no problems until it was about 9 10 years old and the drum started to go and sometimes the program would just get stuck on rinse around 22 or 32 minutes left for ages doing absolutely nothing and then suddenly just start up again 🤷🏻‍♂️ it was old but was always faithful till the end.
Got one of the newer lg smart ThinQ turbowash 6 motion washers and it’s just as good as my old one probably a little better had no problems yet bar if it’s under half a load it will not spin so I make sure it’s full and it’s fine then and completes the load no problem. The springs and damper could do with more tension as it’s gets unbalanced quite easily.
And the older machines used to brake a lot to my dads old hotpoint and indesit broke down loads of times when I was kid in the 1990s they both washed are clothes for 4 us when we was kids. So not just newer ones. Lol

I have an LG wm2010cw and it will occasionally get out of balance, mostly side to side and there is a large dent in left side of washer because of this. Sound like a shock issue?

@@giftedhandsappliancerepair8467 I actually ordered a set of new shocks before even looking at it and when I cracked it open boy was I surprised! 1 shock completely apart and doing nothing, the second was completely shot and close to falling apart, and the third was barely doing anything at all. I dealt with this issue for at least 6 years, would've changed these way sooner if I'd known it was such a simple fix! Been running great for last several months. Thanks!

@@TheDrdreminembearing issue then or the drum spider.

    • @SuperPollywogger

Shocks are the least expensive starting point. In my case there seemed to be no bearing issue by manually rotating and moving of stator on back of washer. I replaced the 3 shocks, ran a test load and still had major shaking in spin cycle especially.
The next step I pulled the outer tub assembly out. After separating the tub and pulling inner tub out the obvious problem was a cracked spider unit that attaches to back of inner stainless tub and has the shaft where the direct drive motor attaches (with a bit ot research found out this was a common problem with older LG washers). At this point I decided to order all the parts required to do a full tub repair. This included 2 new bearings, bearing seal and new outer rubber seal for outer plastic tub. There bearing seemed ok but when you get to this point you might as well replace everything.
Replaced everything and reassembled... Voila, all is good.
Like I mentioned the cast aluminum spider is a known issue on at least some LG washers. One spoke was completely cracked with another hairline crack on another spoke. If that totally let go at 1000 rpm spin cycle it would have trashed the entire tub assembly I am sure.
As it is now I am hoping for another bunch of years of service. I invested about $450 Canadian, including the 3 new shocks. If I had to pay a repair guy to do it I would have just scrapped it. I would say if you have at least a intermediate mechanical level you can do this repair yourself. There are other very good videos for specific makes on the appliance repair parts you tube channels. Go for it!

Make sure drain pump is pumping out all water and working while in spin mode, make sure counter weights arent broken, check tub support and bearings,

Dude you are not supposed to use diagnostics mode with cloth inside. It even says in the manual. During diagnostics it doesn't have a chance to tumble and distribute cloth evenly .

The drum bearing will only fail if the seal leaks and water gets into the bearings.

Mine was doing that , just replaced it with a Bosch , LG is the worst washing machine i have ever had , PCB board error , bairings and rotor need replacing, burning smell coming from the machine , wasn't worth fixing .
