    Very detailed review as usual, Richard. Thank you !
    It's a special lens : very wide, sharp, it supports 58mm filters.

    Quite impressed (as usual, actually) with Laowa’s image quality on this one, and as always, great review! I don’t know how many M4/3 photographers specialise in architecture, but this combined with the GH6 would be a stellar photo/video setup for architecture. And of course as you say, there are a ton of other useful applications for ultra wide lenses, from vlogging, to street, landscape, travel…
    Between this and your Matterport review, you’ve certainly brought out plenty of useful content for architecture and real estate photographers this week! I could definitely see this Laowa lens being a popular choice for those uses, and it seems a bit of a bargain compared with say Sigma or Sony’s 12-24mm lenses, Canon’s 11-24mm, or Fujifilm’s 8-16mm.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching and your support as usual Chris! Yes this is a really cool lens, i just love how wide and at the same time how compact it is, really highlight one of the strength of the micro four thirds system
      I have more architecture lens review coming later this month! (March) but for something a bit bigger than micro four thirds :)

    Hi Richard, nice review!
    Have you try to fit a small matte box, like the Tilta Mirage ? I wonder if it has some vignetting.
    Thanks!

      @@TheRealRichardWong What I mean is there are lots of those cheaper manual lenses, but their older versions were pretty bad. Recent ones are much better. But I didn't see a list of these lenses that are recommended, and I wish someone put them into a list with criterior you covered in this video.

    Thanks, great review! From the lack of mention (here and also the the Laowa site) I assume that the lens is not "digital", ie does not pass back focal length and aperture info to the camera?

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, like most of the cine lenses in the market, this lens does not have electronic contacts and purely mechanical

  • @monsoonlands836
    @monsoonlands836 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review.. Did you used Gimbal for any footages? It looks like there is no image warping while you are walking slowly, with monopod or behind the camera. (Eg. 5:44) . Also I think GH6 is generally stabilizing 6mm better than GH5 and G85 with Laowa 7.5mm.

  • @SergNikiforovGordeev
    @SergNikiforovGordeev ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello! Thanks for the review. Bought this wonderful lens. The geometry of the image is beyond praise. But it seemed to me that the 7-14 from Olympus has much higher sharpness.
    Gaskets are included. Maybe for alignment? Might be worth an adjustment?
    Sorry if I wrote it wrong. I write through an online translator.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i believe the gaskets is just for you to adjust the focus setting e.g. infinity is at infinity and should have minimal/no impact on sharpness

    What's your opinion on this vs the 7.5mm f2 by Laowa as well? Which of the two would you prefer? price are close, but the 7.5 a tad bit cheaper and faster.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      both are very good, i think 7.5mm is easier to use as the 6mm is really wide. But if you want to go wide, then 6mm!

    • @zandermai2220
      @zandermai2220 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRealRichardWong Thanks for the response my friend!
      How is the image quality? All the videos of the 6mm are gorgeous, while the 7.5mm seems just average, but that could just be due to Laowas marketing as well.
      Are the image quality for video comparable? Or is one better than the other in your opinion?

    That’s an impressive lens. But, I’m on the fence with keeping my GH5 and sticking to the m43 system, or just going all full frames since the GH6 is not something I really need. I already have an S5 and RP. I don’t need a bunch of stuff that the GH6 offers. Decision decisions…

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gh6 is Panasonic's hybrid flagship
      So if GH6 is not exactly what you need, there will be other Panasonic / Olympus cameras that probably will meet requirement more in the future :)
      There are pros and cons for each system i think , that's why i shoot with both micro four thirds, full frame, and a bit of APSC too.

    • @mrheng562
      @mrheng562 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRealRichardWong , yeah. I understand that too. I’ve been an M43 and FF hybrid shooter sine the GH4. I wished the GH5 had that GH4 size and all the specs and features of the GH5 ii. I might pick up the OM-1 for the live ND feature. But, I’ll miss all my video tools from the GH cameras. 😩

    Great review as always 💪🏼
    But why did you not show us images on the wider sensor (1.8X crop) of the GH5S?
    The Laowa is not so wide neither is a zoom as the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 + 0.71X = 5.68-11.36 f/3.2-4, but it is faster, smaller, lighter and cheaper 🤔
