Trader Joes vegan videos always make me quite wild, because I live in Germany where there is only Aldi and only Aldi north in my case. No tahini, no tofu, certainly no tempeh. I all sounded delicious!
If you roast the cauliflower before you "rice" it, it not only has a better flavor, but it's easier to rice it because so much of the moisture is gone that it doesn't get all weird and pasty. It just separates perfectly into little rice sized bits.
There are so many different kinds of apples you could eat a different apple every day for twenty years. You guys keep up the good work your info is spot on
Tahini is great for making your own seed and nut bars. Use it to replace any nut butters in recipes and mix it in with your pumpkin seeds and flax or chia seeds along with some protein powder and maple syrup or honey and bam! homemade no bake granola bars.
Thank you gorgeous people. I love hearing you both. I’m going to tell you my favs too. It’s my favorite store. Right now I’m enjoying their dried while apple rings that are a New Zealand dried apple. I can eat ten of them for 120 calories, unsulfured and no dioxides. I also love the frozen shelled edamame. I love all their chocolate too. The mint dark chocolate is a great sweet snack for minimal calories. Their canned lentil soup is 20 grams of fat and it’s so yummy and all the work is done, so fast. Thanks for the idea for the tofu and recipes and tempeh. I want to get into both of those. Their eggplant hummus is so yummy but I must have an allergy to something in it because it bugs my stomach after :( my tastebuds love it though. The plant based porkless salt rinds are the bomb. I read where eating spicy foods helps us feel more satisfied. Loaded with plant protein :) also the power of seven greens juice is amazing. I drink it the first day of a water fast and it helps me make it through the first day. Love it….. also love the pumpkin seeds like you. Just discovered the sea salt lime tortilla chips. Yum! I try to watch my salt but this is my cheat.
I haven't tried TJ's Tahini yet but before I started making it, I got it at HomeGoods/HomeSense for the same reasons, it was just organic sesame seeds. I do love their nuts and seeds there. We don't get to go often because it's not close, but what fun to go to Trader Joe's. I do ALDI all the time, but TJ's is such a fun hunt when I go. They had freeze dried raspberries that I loved. So fun. Haven't tried their nooch yet. Will look next time. We do ours at the Co-Op but also online and a local store. I do both, fortified and non, depending on the sales. Happy Shopping guys. 5.5: My experience with those bags was they got black mold spots that didn’t come out with bleach. I had to throw them out. I’d used them for greens. Probably apples or other fruit would have worked fine.

The closest TJ to me is an hour away so I hardly ever get to go and y'all just happen to post the day I went 😁 I got a bunch of the stuff I normally get because of you guys,the frozen veg ect but I got the pita, sprouted tofu, pumpkin seeds (finally going to make that breakfast casserole!) And the Ajika spice which oh my gosh I literally said "WOAH!" when I smelled it! So excited to try everything! And I am so happy to have found some pita with no oil! God bless💕

I'll have to try [if they still carry them] the tofu, ajika and riced calif. -- and I didn't know riced calif is difficult to make. I'll have to look into that. steamed lentils and their canned "refried" black beans don't have any oil either! TJ can be dangerous as it has a lot of junk but if you have a good list, you can find some serious goodies! thanks for the video :)

I always stock up on the organic brown rice, fire roasted peppers, fire roasted corn and their canned jackfruit which has been hard to come by the last several months.
I love TJoe's, as I call it. My happy place. I buy many things, including all the frozen rice boxes and refrigerated Oat Milk. Will try their cauliflower rice. I have made it from scratch twice. Also will try the Ajika spice. Thanks for sharing your Top 10.
It's not salt free, but I just recently found the trader Joe's herbed tahini sauce. It's basically like a pre-made tahini dressing that can be used for all kinds of things. I just use it on steamed vegetables and when I don't have time to really make much. Again if you're completely SOS free you probably would not choose this but I don't completely avoid salt and the amount in this is reasonable for my diet. Just was surprised to find something like this, a pre-made item with no oil. :-)
Middle Eastern people toast the bread the pita bread and put it on top of a salad and it is called Fattoush it is really good with lemon and oil salt pepper oregano I guess you can do it without the oil.
Y’all living with Brian’s parents has made a big difference in the both of you it’s visible Brian you can tell that you have matured in the Lord so much since moving in with your folks and with that amazing prayer team of friends that you have at your church. Oh and I like the Trader Joe video also!
I’m from Memphis and my favorite meal growing up was famous Memphis barbecue with slaw and baked beans. After becoming Wfpb vegan, I hadn’t had bbq for over 13 years. Then I discovered Trader Joe’s canned green Jack Fruit. It is great for chopping up and sautéing with your favor bbq sauce. It is in salt water, but just dump the water out and rinse. The jackfruit has a great texture and is full of healthy fiber. Make a delicious slaw with it and baked beans and you have a very tasty meal. I sometimes serve it on Ezekiel sprouted toasted buns, but I prefer it in the Ezekiel sprouted pita pockets. It’s a fun meal and all my non vegan friends also love it.
Hey kids; enjoyed this. However, have you tried the roasted frozen corn? I love this in my quinoa black bean salad - it's a game changer. Trader Joe's is the only place I've found this; usually I make my own roasted corn when fresh corn is available. Love you guys, take care.
I'm in Australia and we don't have anything like Trader Joe's. I'm always envious when the US vegan TH-camrs I follow mention all the things they buy at Trader Joe's which make food prep so easy and fast. It's the difference in market size which puts us at a disadvantage. The US is 9.834 million km²/3.8 m² (so virtually same size as China and Canada) while Australia is 7,617,930 million km². But the US 332.4 million population (1 million less to covid!) to Australia's 26 million means we just don't have the population to support large chain stores like Trader Joe's 😭 It means we can't get things like frozen grated potato or diced onion. And worst of all, all our basics like vegan milks have added oil and salt, or tinned tomatoes and legumes have added salt so our "healthy" options are not the greatest. We don't have delicious sounding roasted tomatoes or roasted corn to add extra layers of flavour/umami to our dishes. It's a pity, but one advantage we do have is not so many genetically engineered products - we only have gm cotton, canola and safflower, none of which we eat. GM carnations have been approved ;) One thing I notice is organic tomatoes have salt and preservatives whereas we can get Italian non organic goods with better ingredient lists and they are good quality since pastas, diced and whole tomato products are the food of life in Italy. I have to go to a specialty store to get things like preserved or pickled habañeros or super special Asian sauces etc. So, not quite 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, but I would say the quality of our everyday fruit and vegetables is very good, even if there are a few limits on what we can get, we are lucky to get many Asian fruit and vegetables which I notice American TH-camrs don't include in their recipes. Your closeness to Mexico means chili dishes (not so big here), whereas we have a huge Asian influence here of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Singaporean and Indian (so lots of stir fries and curries). Asia is our travel backyard, where Mexico and perhaps other central American countries are yours.

Just curious: Does anyone know where T.J. gets their palm oil from? It just seems that every thing that they make contains palm oil. Their mac and cheese is so delicious but I'd like to know this. I've tried to contact them but they haven't answered.
I was just thinking the same thing to myself today while I was at trader Joe's! Every time I picked up something and looked at the ingredients there was palm oil so I put it back. I don't buy products that add oil anyway, but I was disappointed to see that it was palm oil...

Hello! Thx for sharing! But how do you get your daily amount of proteins on this regimen? As i am struggling. And what about the quality of proteins you are getting? Especially that the plant proteins are not as biodisponible as the animal ones. Would recommend Gregg Doucette's video re that. But would like to hear your side of it. Why are you so concerned about protein? Humans are omnivores adapted to eat predominantly vegetables and fruit. We don't have the teeth to be meat eaters. Nutrients are more bio available to us through plants and there are increasing numbers of studies demonstrating that a whole food plant based (WFPB) diet/lifestyle is the healthiest we can possibly eat. Our guts are as significant as the brain - some researchers call the gut the second brain! - and so the right foods, without being pre-occupied by quantity but quality, is a good way to proceed. Check out the Blue Zones, those lifestyles teach us so much. The person you mention seems to be a controversial figure who eats and promotes lots of fatty and excessively protein filled products. Humans don't need as much protein as you seem to think. And, you can use a fantastic product called PB2 (fat reduced peanut butter powder) mixed with a little PB to make a much less fatty salad dressing, buddha bowl dressing or dessert ingredient with lots of protein. I mention that because that's what your Canadian dude is fighting about. I did one search and found some other dude called Remington James who called your guy out as a lier: th-cam.com/video/Z-aLJbg86fA/w-d-xo.html If you want to follow someone who is closer to the lifestyle we here in this community follow then check out this vegan "strongman" Patrik Baboumian on YT. My brother follows him and he's not on about promoting his own products. As vegans we do share product tips as Brian and Jessica do here, because it's not always easy to find good products to fill our vegan pantries. You really need to do better quality research in my opinion. I would head to * Dr John McDougall's website (www.drmcdougall.com). You'll find links to his books (The Starch Solution), his wife Mary's free recipes, subscribe to his newsletters etc. There's 40 years of research you can access there and Dr McDougall appears every Monday on * Chef AJ's YT channel to give a lecture and Q&A. All the top vegan doctors and researchers are in alignment with the vegan community and Dr McDougall and the approach Brian and Jessica are following. Sadia makes a great team, with fiancè Robin using his tech skills (he recently graduated with a PhD) to build a new app, with Sadia's food know how they have fantastic recipes with a European and Asian twist (just a little). Sadia includes protein all the time and explains food values. There are many other sites I could include, but these will give you a fantastic base to build your vegan food adventure along with lovely Brian's and Jessica's journey as well, you can't do better. Enjoy your journey and I hope you discover a way of eating where you're not worried about how much this is and how much that is. If you eat well, the food takes care of you. I've never been healthier after a life as a vegetarian (with health problems) and nearly 4 years as a vegan without problems.
One of the best lines I've ever heard on this subject is "Humans don't need protein. They need amino acids." Basically, all plants have every amino acid we need. But one can increase the amount they get by eating from sources like nuts, seeds, beans, and legumes. A person even only eating potatoes, can essentially get what the body needs. They just need to eat enough of them. 😀

Especially taking into account the fact that you have had some not so great moments in the past year. There are 9 essential amino acids that the brain and the rest of the body need in order to produce the necessary proteins it needs. And most of the brain, and organ receptors are made out of proteins synthetized from those aminoacids ( to mention the least). The reason I am asking is to see if you are taking any supplements

I am more than happy to answer legit questions. And you've been nothing but respectful in your comments. I question everything and my opinions are always subject to change.🤣 However, here is why I think I'm right. A potato has all 9 essential amino acids. It just doesn't have them all together in a protein chain. And to get the basics of what you need in a day you need to eat around 5 average sized potatoes. Now, eventually you would run into some certain deficiencies if you ate nothing but potatoes but that is an extreme case anyway. But to answer your question about supplements... The only real supplement a plant based person needs is B12. At least that is the case until duck weed becomes widely available. I will take B12 sometimes and Vitamin D during the winter. Other than that I eat a variety of foods that give me what I need. If you want to look up some more information on this kind of stuff, look up Ray Cronise. That man knows his science. 😀
Dr. Fuhrman (and others) talk about why you should AVOID fortified nooch, due to the synthetic folic acid content. Synthetic folic acid's linked to increased incidence of colorectal, breast and prostate cancers :( I suppose how much & how often you use it would determine if you want to source one of the many UNfortified versions on the market.
@@pattycarlin1745 Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. I guess in my case I rarely eat fortified foods like cereals anyway. Plus, I usually buy frontier co-op nutritional yeast in bulk which is unfortified. Def something to consider for people who eat lots of fortified foods.

Middle Eastern people toast the bread the pita bread and put it on top of a salad and it is called Fattoush it is really good with lemon and oil salt pepper oregano I guess you can do it without the oil.

Y’all living with Brian’s parents has made a big difference in the both of you it’s visible Brian you can tell that you have matured in the Lord so much since moving in with your folks and with that amazing prayer team of friends that you have at your church. I’m from Memphis and my favorite meal growing up was famous Memphis barbecue with slaw and baked beans. After becoming Wfpb vegan, I hadn’t had bbq for over 13 years. Then I discovered Trader Joe’s canned green Jack Fruit. It is great for chopping up and sautéing with your favor bbq sauce. It is in salt water, but just dump the water out and rinse. The jackfruit has a great texture and is full of healthy fiber. Make a delicious slaw with it and baked beans and you have a very tasty meal. I sometimes serve it on Ezekiel sprouted toasted buns, but I prefer it in the Ezekiel sprouted pita pockets. It’s a fun meal and all my non vegan friends also love it.

Hey kids; enjoyed this. However, have you tried the roasted frozen corn? I love this in my quinoa black bean salad - it's a game changer. Trader Joe's is the only place I've found this; usually I make my own roasted corn when fresh corn is available. Love you guys, take care.

I'm in Australia and we don't have anything like Trader Joe's. I'm always envious when the US vegan TH-camrs I follow mention all the things they buy at Trader Joe's which make food prep so easy and fast. It's the difference in market size which puts us at a disadvantage. The US is 9.834 million km²/3.8 m² (so virtually same size as China and Canada) while Australia is 7,617,930 million km². But the US 332.4 million population (1 million less to covid!) to Australia's 26 million means we just don't have the population to support large chain stores like Trader Joe's 😭
It means we can't get things like frozen grated potato or diced onion. And worst of all, all our basics like vegan milks have added oil and salt, or tinned tomatoes and legumes have added salt so our "healthy" options are not the greatest. We don't have delicious sounding roasted tomatoes or roasted corn to add extra layers of flavour/umami to our dishes. It's a pity, but one advantage we do have is not so many genetically engineered products - we only have gm cotton, canola and safflower, none of which we eat. GM carnations have been approved ;) One thing I notice is organic tomatoes have salt and preservatives whereas we can get Italian non organic goods with better ingredient lists and they are good quality since pastas, diced and whole tomato products are the food of life in Italy. I have to go to a specialty store to get things like preserved or pickled habañeros or super special Asian sauces etc. So, not quite 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, but I would say the quality of our everyday fruit and vegetables is very good, even if there are a few limits on what we can get, we are lucky to get many Asian fruit and vegetables which I notice American TH-camrs don't include in their recipes. Your closeness to Mexico means chili dishes (not so big here), whereas we have a huge Asian influence here of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Singaporean and Indian (so lots of stir fries and curries). Asia is our travel backyard, where Mexico and perhaps other central American countries are yours.

Just curious: Does anyone know where T.J. gets their palm oil from? It just seems that every thing that they make contains palm oil. Their mac and cheese is so delicious but I'd like to know this. I've tried to contact them but they haven't answered.
I was just thinking the same thing to myself today while I was at trader Joe's! Every time I picked up something and looked at the ingredients there was palm oil so I put it back. I don't buy products that add oil anyway, but I was disappointed to see that it was palm oil...
If the packaging doesn´t crow about it having been ethically produced assume the palm oil source is unethical.

Hello! Thx for sharing! But how do you get your daily amount of proteins on this regimen? As i am struggling. And what about the quality of proteins you are getting? Especially that the plant proteins are not as biodisponible as the animal ones. Would recommend Gregg Doucette's video re that. But would like to hear your side of it. Why are you so concerned about protein? Humans are omnivores adapted to eat predominantly vegetables and fruit. We don't have the teeth to be meat eaters. Nutrients are more bio available to us through plants and there are increasing numbers of studies demonstrating that a whole food plant based (WFPB) diet/lifestyle is the healthiest we can possibly eat. Our guts are as significant as the brain - some researchers call the gut the second brain! - and so the right foods, without being pre-occupied by quantity but quality, is a good way to proceed. Check out the Blue Zones, those lifestyles teach us so much. The person you mention seems to be a controversial figure who eats and promotes lots of fatty and excessively protein filled products. Humans don't need as much protein as you seem to think. And, you can use a fantastic product called PB2 (fat reduced peanut butter powder) mixed with a little PB to make a much less fatty salad dressing, buddha bowl dressing or dessert ingredient with lots of protein. I mention that because that's what your Canadian dude is fighting about. If you want to follow someone who is closer to the lifestyle we here in this community follow then check out this vegan "strongman" Patrik Baboumian on YT. My brother follows him and he's not on about promoting his own products. As vegans we do share product tips as Brian and Jessica do here, because it's not always easy to find good products to fill our vegan pantries.
You really need to do better quality research in my opinion. I would head to * Dr John McDougall's website (www.drmcdougall.com). You'll find links to his books (The Starch Solution), his wife Mary's free recipes, subscribe to his newsletters etc. There's 40 years of research you can access there and Dr McDougall appears every Monday on * Chef AJ's YT channel to give a lecture and Q&A. The movie set on Mars with Matt Damon where he lived on potatoes for a year is based on real research by Dr McDougall. No problem with protein. All the top vegan doctors and researchers are in alignment with the vegan community and Dr McDougall and the approach Brian and Jessica are following.

Sadia makes a great team, with fiancè Robin using his tech skills (he recently graduated with a PhD) to build a new app, with Sadia's food know how they have fantastic recipes with a European and Asian twist (just a little). Sadia includes protein all the time and explains food values.
There are many other sites I could include, but these will give you a fantastic base to build your vegan food adventure along with lovely Brian's and Jessica's journey as well, you can't do better.
Enjoy your journey and I hope you discover a way of eating where you're not worried about how much this is and how much that is. If you eat well, the food takes care of you. I've never been healthier after a life as a vegetarian (with health problems) and nearly 4 years as a vegan without problems.
One of the best lines I've ever heard on this subject is "Humans don't need protein. They need amino acids." Basically, all plants have every amino acid we need. But one can increase the amount they get by eating from sources like nuts, seeds, beans, and legumes. A person even only eating potatoes, can essentially get what the body needs. They just need to eat enough of them. 😀

Especially taking into account the fact that you have had some not so great moments in the past year. There are 9 essential amino acids that the brain and the rest of the body need in order to produce the necessary proteins it needs. And most of the brain, and organ receptors are made out of proteins synthetized from those aminoacids ( to mention the least). The reason I am asking is to see if you are taking any supplements

I question everything and my opinions are always subject to change.🤣 However, here is why I think I'm right.
A potato has all 9 essential amino acids. It just doesn't have them all together in a protein chain. And to get the basics of what you need in a day you need to eat around 5 average sized potatoes. Now, eventually you would run into some certain deficiencies if you ate nothing but potatoes but that is an extreme case anyway. But to answer your question about supplements... The only real supplement a plant based person needs is B12. At least that is the case until duck weed becomes widely available. I will take B12 sometimes and Vitamin D during the winter. Other than that I eat a variety of foods that give me what I need.
If you want to look up some more information on this kind of stuff, look up Ray Cronise. That man knows his science. 😀

Why do people want unfortified nutritional yeast? I can't imagine there's a taste difference.
Dr. Fuhrman (and others) talk about why you should AVOID fortified nooch, due to the synthetic folic acid content. Synthetic folic acid's linked to increased incidence of colorectal, breast and prostate cancers :( I suppose how much & how often you use it would determine if you want to source one of the many UNfortified versions on the market.

I guess in my case I rarely eat fortified foods like cereals anyway. Plus, I usually buy frontier co-op nutritional yeast in bulk which is unfortified.
