Seems I was living under a rock because haven't heard about Undertale who is, according to MANY people, one of the greatest games ever, turns out it's OST uses a clever way of making many themes out of a main melody and it's variations.

The funny thing about ''Song that might play while fighting Sans'' is that it never plays. The song is still hidden in the game files but it doesn't play at all in the game.

Someone did a "musical" playthrough of the game, focusing on the tracks and the situations in which they played. Hell, that person cried more than once through the whole Undertale ordeal, and I cannot fault anyone for doing so. Highly recommend checking the game out, it is not that long or too hard. Otherwise, for another Undertale OST reaction, I recommend the following tracks:

Idk if all people have figured out this, but "its raining somewhere else" has the Sans. leit motif, its the whole Sans. theme, its just like a pitch modified, and also arranged to sound along with melancholic rythm

Toby fox has revolutionized sound design in gaming. Fun fact, he made the entire game on his own, along with the soundtrack.
The soundtrack also makes for the absolute best backround music out there.
Let's not forget that Temmie did a lot of art. He didn't make it ENTIRELY himself, but yes, most of it was him.
He made about 95% of the game on his own, but yes
Temmie Chang and the rest of the Undertale team left the chat.
he did MOST of the work, while everyone else gave him concept art.
You can't fully appreciate Bonetrelluse without knowing who Papyrus is. It is such a great character theme, the spirit of the song is so directly connected to Papyrus' character so that it makes everything about him so much better.
YESSSS!!!!!!!! Undertale is easily one of the best games that has ever been made. The story, sound design, and characters are all amazing and done mostly by one dude

Fun fact: first version of megalovania was made when toby was just 17 years old, and was included in a Halloween hack/mod from nintendos franchise Mother (or english earthbound)
Later the song has been used in a Flash animation for the webcomic homestuck, later he made the most iconic one for his game undertale, and later a new remix was made for super smash bros ultimate, when the skeleton character sans became a purchable Mii character skin that came along with the song.

i wholeheartedly recommand listening to "HOPES AND DREAMS" its one of my favourite Undertale ost
Toby Fox created the entire OST by himself and also made most of the game entirely by himself with a good amount of help from another person called Temmie Chang. (And some minor character designs that were from his community.)
Also here is a funny controller disconnect message that can happen during the game when no controller is connected in the xbox version of the game:

While I understand playing "It's Raining Somewhere Else" to come down from "Megalovania", compare the main portion with that of "sans."
Please do more of this, like "Hopes And Dreams" and "Death By Glamour"

Toby Fox is an actual musical god. He's essentially the sole composer of the entire OST (like 99% of it). He also has made another game called "Deltarune" that is essentially Undertale's "sister game", if you will, and he composed basically all of that OST too. Deltarune is going to have 7 chapters in total but so far only 2 have been released, and I would highly recommend its OST as well (along with the rest of Undertale's soundtrack).
If you ever decide to listen to Deltarune's OST or play through the game itself (which I would recommend) you should listen/play through Undertale first as there are many songs in Deltarune that have leitmotifs of Undertale's songs. And man does Toby Fox love his leitmotifs.
Toby has also made songs for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as well.
Yup. And that also why the soundtrack are good. Even though sometimes the fps in scarlet violet are... Uhmmm... Like 2 per sec😂
i like how megalovania like does not have connection to other song in the game(maybe it did, and i don't know about it) like it literally a theme about ,"a duel to death" between you and the judge or sans.
There's definitely something in there that's in other tracks, I think... Maybe some Hopes and Dreams or whatever? Not necessarily as a big part of the track, but I'm pretty sure there are hints of something else in places...

There's a very small amount of Megalovania in Bring it in guys. When sans come on to screen.
Toby Fox composed Megalovania seven years before he finished making Undertale IIRC.

Loved your insight into the music, Undertale's songs have such a nostalgic vibe, right? I really hope you'll listen to more of them because there are still a lot of glamorously amazing osts you didn't hear yet ^^
Yeah, Toby Fox -the composer, game designer, and little white dog- has like 5 leitmotiffs and plays with them like dolls. I don't think there is a song on the entire soundtrack that doesn't share a leitmotif with at least one other song, and some show up in at least 4 other songs. The main battle theme shows up in so many of them and in ways you could easily miss.
Edit: I don't remember if Megalovania featured any leitmotifs, but I chalk that up to it being about 4 years older than the rest of the songs.
The thing is you could say Megalovania itself is a leitmotif; not linked to anything else in the game, but to the situation. Every time it's been used has been in exactly the same type of situation regardless of medium it was used for.
Megalovania is connected woth every other ost that has sans in it, for example
"Its raining somewhere else"
"Song that plays when you fight sans"
"Sans"
And also fun fact :
If you listen hard enough you can hear a tiny little gaster melody in the background of "song that plays when you fight sans"

Undertale is such an amazing game with wonderful music all around! If you want to do more reactions like this where all of the songs you listen to are motivically/thematically connected in some way, here are some groups that you could do:

The way these songs all feed into each other is just super cool to me

These don't all have the same motifs, but are still all connected to the same character, so I would be interested what deeper connections you would find there

-Undertale

-His Theme
Won't say more about these, just curious what connections you would be able to make between them without the context of the game...
I'd add Flowey's theme and maybe Your Best Nightmare to that last list.
Don't forget "SAVE the world" between hopes and dreams and his theme! I'm always sad when people only listen to one or the other because they are basically two halves of the same song.

Nice reaction jhulian! , If you we're to check out other works like this i suggest starting listening to touhou music osts too! , Toby Fox's tracks are mostly inspired by touhou's osts, if you we're interested in these types of japanese composer styles, i highly suggest it!

There is a ton of amazing music for the Kirby series, and you ought to consider checking some of it out. I could list hundreds of songs on here, but my first suggestions for you are:

I never noticed that "song that might play when you fìght sans" has a tiny little Gaster melody in the background, if you listen very hard.

The segment called "Megalovania" starts almost 20 seconds into the actual song. It's missing the entire build up and kind of starts right there at the "drop". Just letting you know since many people here are likely most excited for that part.
