The main thing I took from this video is that if your technique doesn't involve 100% slapping then Davie will show up in your backyard at 3:47 AM, bass in hand, and break open your bedroom window, only before entering your bedroom and cracks your head open with his bass

1:21 I use that technique all the time! Steve Bailey is the master of it. It's great for the pinch harmonic sounds, and playing entire chords and solos with harmonics. It's really useful on a fretless since you can get slide harmonics.

as someone who is still going through their first year of playing bass, and someone who is still working on their slap technique, this video fills me with joy. Davie504 is one of my main inspirations for deciding to play bass and i've never regretted it.

Davie, you said in this episode that Singing and slapping the bass is EPIC but you have never acknowledged Geddy Lee of Rush as one of the most awesome epic bassists ever. Geddy can slap bass, sing and play keyboards at the same time. Show some love to this bassist LEGEND!
I thought he put Geddy Lee in the top 10 bassists of all time. #7 if memory serves correct. (We named one of our sons Geddy afte Geddy Lee so I pay attention to these things)

I did this at a show one time with my old BC Rich Warlock, but in the opposite direction. Despite having Straploks, after ~1/2 a rotation, the screw ripped out of the bottom end, sending that pointy bastard flying straight back, nearly impaling our drummer. Fun times.

I've seen that guitar guy playing slap on IG often. He does slap on basses a lot and he's veryyyy good! But I obsolutely loved the one where he was playing with the bassist by the canal, that bassist smoked chick corea out of the water
