To many, Kansas City is synonymous with jazz music, wheat production, cows, and barbecue. While the arts and the agricultural industries are undeniably deeply ingrained in the culture of this west Missouri city, it's that last item that we listed that we'll be honing in on in this video. Put simply, Kansas City is a foodie utopia!
Not only is Kansas City a town full of expert pitmasters, scrupulous carnivores, and masterful musicians, but it also has a thriving culinary scene that spans numerous cultural influences. Identifying the best cuisine in the Kansas area is no easy task, but we're going to be doing our best to provide you with a rundown of what we believe are some of the best restaurants and BBQ joints in the city that has been nicknamed the Heart of America.

Harry’s in Westport is a great spot! Gumbo, red beans and rice and the black bean quesadilla are my faves
Um...how long have you lived there ...2 weeks? Only Joes and Town Topic are old KC classics
Slap's is a dominate force on the comp BBQ scene. I've been to many comps where he just cleans house on all 4 categories.
I've been going there to town topic ever since Claude Sparks ran it when I was a kid. He was a kind man. He really took care of his employees too. When mom and I went to his office to talk to him about something (she was a manager back then) I'd sit on his lap when i was little and he'd give me $5 out of his wallet and a Hershey bar out of his desk at his office at 19th and Baltimore. ❤

J. Gilbert's in Overland Park is awesome. A bit on the pricy side, but worth every cent. the maple-plank roasted salmon is to die for!
Amazing steak, one of my favorite places. Like you said, pricey but worth it imo

For lunch, a mini Jumbo brisket sandwich, BBQ baked beans, and fries. A stack of 6 onion rings as an appetizer for two.
