My grandma would cook chicken and dumplings from scratch. Good comfort food.

GM I make this every year my family don't eat them but I love them can't wait to make them Happy New Year's to you6,,🍾🎉
You are the Best Chef!!
Thank You and GOD Bless!
Nothing better than black eyed peas cooked with ham and onions. I'm from NC and the New Years Day meal always consisted of black eyed peas, collards and hog jowl. I was always told that the peas were for plenty, the greens were for money and the hog jowl was for health for the New Year. Funny little thing for you, my youngest daughter never liked black eyed peas and she would say to me " Mama, I don't like them beans with eyes". That used to tickle me so. She is now 50 years old and still doesn't like them beans with eyes....lol
Good day chef Jeff. Can't beat a good bowl of black-eyed peas and ham shanks. Real Texas cooking you can't beat. Another fine recipe chef be blessed.
I want some of those peas with some whole okra and chow chow on top. Yes lawd

Looks delicious. My Mother always cooked Black-eyed peas, collard greens, cornbread and some type of pork ( ribs, chops or neckbones ). My favorite meal. I love veggies!!!!!
Thank you !!!
Perfect meal to start your new year off with .
My son loves black eyed peas
Looks good chef 👨🏾🍳
As you said this was a traditon in our household. My mother would cook blackeye peas, greens and pork roast, chittterlings or ribs & some cornbread. This would be what she would do for New Years. I am not a blackeye pea eater. I can take 'em or leave 'em. My dad loved blackeye peas. However this is what was in our household for New Years. Thanks for the memories. TYFS. Be blessed. Enjoy. #ossfjustshowsomekindness 🕊😊❤
I love to eat these for New Year's Day. Those beans and that meat have the best flavor profileChef Jeff!
✌🏼
Good Morning Chelf Jeffrey❤ I Love Your Recipes❤

Yummy 😋
Looks fantastic
Oooh they look so good! That’s the way to do it Chef Jeffery, I have to put my cornbread into the pot liquor ❣️Happy New Year!!!
Love my modern pressure cooker, but this New Years I am going to 'fish' the crock pot out the back of the cabinet (hope it still works 😢). I use smoked hocks and we dont add any salt as it is just so flavorful. I am a hot sauce person 😂.
**Chef your recipe in desc says 50 min, but 60 in your video is the sweet spot.
Uh-huh! Looks Delicious. May you have a BLESSed & Prosperous New Year.❤
Oooooweeeee😋😋😋 looks just like mama used to make chef 🙌🏼🙌🏼 love it 🥰.. always have blackened peas and corn bread with cole slaw or boiled cabbage on New Year’s Day .. love it love it !!! Southern traditions
Canned black eyed peas with salt pork who? With all those meaty ham shanks, goes way over the top there! I grew up these, but my Northerner wife tradition is sauerkraut & pork. So we stuck with that now. "Mrs. Curly - if you're reading this -- I really want some black eyed peas this year -- you can keep that sauerkraut!!" 😂 #justshowsomekindness
😂😂
This looks so good ! Ty, Chef for sharing all these videos.❤
Good evening Teach that dish there sure will hit the spot. 😂😂😂❤
Looks delicious Chef. Enjoy 😂❤❤
💯👍
The best part of the video is seeing you eat and enjoy the food. This makes me want to cook some blackeyed peas, and I usually only make them as a salad.
Happy New Year s day Chef Jefferey!!🎉🎉

Gm😊
The onions and bell peppers are chopped finely, diced or rough chopped?
That is a video of New Year goodness. Or any other time. I hear there are some folk don't like black eye peas and cornbread. I don't know what I think about that. Really folks, are you out there?????
Hello Chef….i like my peas to have a thicker pot liquor. Do I need to add some corn starch to the instant pot recipe?
Yes
Chef Jeffrey, this is torture watching you enjoying those black eye peas, chitterlin, and have my mouth starts watering for it. I can't take it anymore. Next on your list is the collard greens' old-fashioned southern style. This is complete torture because I want some of those foods.
Good Morning Chef Jeff. This was a staple in my family on New Years Day. I have continued this tradition. I have changed up my black-eyed peas, and I make a dish called Creole black-eyed peas. It has amazing flavor. I found this recipe when I was looking for something that would encourage my children to eat them, and it was a hit. I have people who say they don't like black-eyed peas. I ask them to just take a little bit of this Creole black-eyed peas and give it a taste. I found it changed many peoples minds. I have always made Creole black-eyed peas and the way you make peas. I would make a medium pot of both and a lot of cornbread. I have been lucky and have not had any leftovers. I have cut it down to a small pot of both because my family has shrunk. Chef Jeff your got me hungry with your delicious pot of black-eyed peas. God Bless You Chef Jeff 🙏🙏
##JUSTSHOWSOMEKINDNESS
Yes, Indeed, Chef nd u KNOW it💯💯💯
Chef Jeff if I don’t have an instant pot how long do I cook them on the stove and on what temperature
It’s in the recipe
If I don’t eat pork what would be a good meat alternative??? ❤ 🙏🏾
Never have eaten black eyed peas .
What is ham/chicken base ? Is it bouillon powder or cubes?
Powder
@@OLDSCHOOLSOULFOOD were can I get it at
Did you have dried peas or frozen peas?
Dried
Did you soak your peas in water?
No
People, only beans need soaking, not peas.
I take a chopstick and poke/scrape out all that marrow from the bones....
I don’t like black eyed peas. For New Year’s we have snap peas instead.
