    Mere afterthought at this point but that "odd" hub on the left rear axle was Oliver's dual hub for bolting two wheel centers together.

    Hello I also live in Iowa (Charles City) just a few blocks from where the Hart-Parr / Oliver factory was its now just flat concrete slab and my wife was third generation to work there. But on the other hand Im only a little bit north of Waterloo, where John Deere is built. Really enjoy your videos and I cant wait until next spring to start making hay again

    My brother had one of these same tractors without the cab. Shortly after he sold it, the main crankshaft bearings piled up.

    My grandfather farmed with an 1855 for many years. Tractor is still on the farm, gets used for snowblowing mostly. As far as I know he never had trouble with it.

    At the farm i'm working at an old man who is 98 i think bought two olivers a long time ago and one had a cab but it had problems so we have two oliver tractors that are cab less, one the right brake sticks and the other one the pto shaft broke. thought i would just share it.

    I'd love to have an ol' Oliver like that. Growing up in the 70's, my dad gave me an old Case from the early to mid 50's I believe it was, after he bought a early 60's Allis-Chamlers. I was 10 yrs old at the time and had a blast working with that old tractor. Had we known then what we know now, I'd have kept that ol thing around. Can't wait to see the finished restoration when you're done. I bet it will look sweet.

    That's a nice little tractor I'm sure it'll do well for somebody runs pretty damn good for sitting so long I see the Oliver's still working a lot around my way. I like trading better most of the time it just works better unless it's a newer piece of equipment that will basically sell itself seems like your happy with the trade Wes that's all that matters

    Batteries! Bet you must be sick of them. Best investment ever was in the equipment I bought to run my own battery shop. It's pretty surprising just how much money is spent every year on batteries!.
    There is a garage near me that leases batteries to farms,plant and haulage companies. They have guaranteed fully serviceable batteries at all times. They come out and change batteries for servicing at regular intervals and emergency cover in case of a failure. 10 bucks a month per battery is actually good value, saves them time money and hassle.

  • @donjuan6324

    Actually although not the best or top of the line. most Oliver Tractors were a fairly decent tractor for what they were, . True once in a while someone would get a lemon, but for the most part they got the job done, I know the Two Farmers I worked for ( in my younger days) had them and never had a complaint., The Tractors had the power & the reliability to do the work. Of course the one Farmer ( George ) , was always strict on regular maintenance on all equipment that got used regularly whether they needed it or not,.. ( once every month) ...as he used to say.... If you do not take care of them properly , they will not take care of you properly ... ..

    Have an Oliver, not one bit of trouble and never even change the oil. No issues with any of my equipment actually. I don't know why you have so many troubles, I don't have any when playing Farm Sim.

  • @heavymechanic2
    @heavymechanic2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sometimes a little Marvels Mystery Oil added to the fuel will clear up injector issues after the equipment has been sitting. It sounds like a spray tip may be gummed up or have some hard carbon affecting the spray pattern (or bleed off) at low flow rates... Can't say I would miss that green monster either.

    With a rotorary injector pump if you slack off any one of the lines you will get pressure drop on all of them . the only time this diagnosis works is on an inline pump , your best bet is feel the pipe pulse on a bend in the line with your thumb and finger gently squeezing it . if you have an hoseing injector or one thats well down on performance you will notice a weak pulse on that line . also you will see bluey white exhaust smoke and you can also smell the unburnt diesel, smells a bit like kerosine.

    I have been rebuilding a Oliver 1755 with a cab (same machine) for the past 2 years. main drive gears in the transmission welded themselfs to the main shaft. we striped her down started from a bare frame and she finally has new paint on her. Oliver and white in my opinion were the last good tractors agco made. Though we have Olivers and white we have a few deeres as well 3150 and a 4240. I always down talked Deere till we got them. Never again will I down talk them now lol.
