To be honest its not all that difficult of a restoration, and i should know since my channel is mostly about restorations. the statue as it was needed some pressure washing and normal boat repair supplies for fibreglass would be easy to find for the restoration. however replacing the nose would probably take a day or two to get right. I suspect the statue was removed and taken to somebody's shop, people started hearing it was removed, and then they restored it and put it back. or, if somebody has a comfortable ladder it wouldnt be so hard to do it right there. I do worry about how this restoration will last if they didnt sand correctly, but its still better than it was. i hope when they sealed the cracks they didnt lock any moisture inside. if i was restoring this i would put the statue in the attic of a workshop or something for a month to help drive out moisture before sealing it up.
I feel like this is symbolic of how Sonic is being restored albeit slowly, first with Sonic Mania reminding the fans why they loved Sonic to begin with, the new IDW comics doing very well and filling the hole Archie left us, and now the Sonic movie actually breaking the video game movie curse, this is just surreal and I love it:D
