I like the easy oil change system I do drain all the oil though.and another thing I f u see people cut these filters opened their twice the size of the regular filter so really its a better filter I don't mind paying 40 bucks and 16 bucks extra for 2 quarts of oil.every 2 years I change it I only put about 25 hrs a year on it
Thanks. Had some extra time and things that needed to get done. I can't believe I said a hex had 5 sides LOL. I am loosing it. Have a Blessed Day Brother!
Wally this is new to me too! I guess they try to make oil changes so simple but it doesn't remove the oil from the motor. The filter cost over 40.00 too! The filter is precharged with oil and you just install the new one. I like things the old way. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin
I have the same mower and same convert kit. You could have used a regular old socket extension to install the nipple. Looking forward to $15 oil changes rather than $50!
This is the first new riding mower I have owned myself. I try to spray it down after each use. I'm sure it will begin to collect more dirt as I use it thru the years. Them oil filters sure can be a mess. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin
I am with you on that. This is a lot better for your engine and saves a lot of money. Thanks for commenting and thumbs up for doing it right. Have a Blessed Evening Friend! Justin

Good afternoon Justin I'm Brendon I don't know why John Deere put the gimmicky easy change system on their motors it doesn't remove all the nasty oil from the motor that ain't good this spring I'm gonna help my neighbor delete his easy change system and install the conversion kit to increase his V Twin's life and she'll appreciate us
There is but not sure of the #'s! Fram is being used by some and Briggs has one that will work. I am going to look into an alternative this year because the JD filter is considerably more than a standard automotive filter. But is an automotive filter more restrictive. Not sure how much oil pressure these engines produce. In the end, an extra 5 to 10 dollars for the JD filter and knowing it's right is peace of mind I guess. Maybe someone can let us know if they come by this comment what they are using. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

I just did that conversion today on my E120. I look forward to $20 oil changes instead of $50+ for Easy Chg.

You can also fashion a little piece of tin foil to help catch that yucky oil, make like a tin foil channel for it to run through.
Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated. Have a Blessed Day Friend! Justin

Is there a cheaper alternative to the John Deere filter?
