A lot of mechanics would have just replaced the head gasket then told her she also needed to replace the radiator. You seem like a genuinely good and kind person
I've been a mechanic almost 50 years. It's nice to see an honest one who knows what he's doing. There's a lot of idiots out there who wouldn't know a bad head gasket from a leaking water pump. Nice job.

I LIVE IN A PLACE WE USED TO CALL GREAT BRITAIN . Keep up your good work it's great to see an honest Car Mechanic so so rare these days. Colin.

No travel time and I round down most days. Keeps me busy and I love helping people. This man will be blessed for using his skills to help people.

Woo no big teardowns. A customer of ours had us install a leather kit and door lock actuators on a 99 F250 7.3 Powerstroke. We got it done and ready to pickup, when the fuse that supplies power to the pedal popped. The potentiometer had shorted out. Took me a hour or so with a scan tool and the customer running around looking for the part that went bad. We did not charge him for that diagnosis or to put the parts on.
I appreciate you taking the time to talk to her about the process and what you were looking for. She seemed she was genuinely curious and wanted to know what was going on, and if anything just to have a little more knowledge for the future. Some people wouldn't have given her the time of day.
I challenge everyone to call a dealership and say they have a 2014 Jetta that needs a radiator replaced and see what the price would be. Also, if you had them diagnose the issue, you’d get charged for that and half the time you’ll get a misdiagnosis. This guy is out here really helping people. I will like and share everything he puts out.
Ay I drove a Jetta for 8 years and I am a handsome young man, not a cute young girl 😂😂😂😂. Bought that car for my 18th birthday and paid it off all my self. What a feeling when you finally get that title.
This guy is as Honest as the day is long and he’s ALWAYS personable with people. He’s a rare one!!! I applaud him. I wish more people acted like he does. GOOD ON YOU BROTHER!👍
Great to watch this especially as I got royally screwed yesterday by an A/C technician. In the long run, this great guy will get repeat and loyal customers because he isn’t out to screw everyone. Especially those who aren’t mechanically savvy . Thank you .
So glad to see there are still honest mechanics out there. About 10 years ago my grandparents had their mechanic come check my 97’ Cavalier for a leak. Turned out it needed a radiator. He charged them $50 for the visit and $600 for the job that took him about 45 minutes. The radiator was only $64. After that I swore off calling mechanics and did a lot of learning and online mechanic classes so I could work on all of our cars and do side work. It’s the honesty that keeps people coming back, and it’s not hard to be fair and not scam people.
Honesty and a good attitude, That's exactly how you get a lot of repeat customers and build a good reputation as a mechanic. That's hard to find these days in any repair business. Most will screw you over any way they can. Just like the scammer that said she needed a head gasket.

Also, This guy is super nice, I know he doesn’t have the expenses or overhead that a dealership has, but a dealership where I live, charges minimum $175 plus tax just to diagnose this problem, will obviously only use/buy OEM parts and then labor again to re and re this radiator……..end cost being around $750 and up vs this guy literally charging a $100 bucks for all his time, knowledge and travel expenses…..she doesn’t know how lucky she is here.
Keep this guy!! I had a place"mistakenly" not connect a coolant line to another part they replaced. Leaked coolant badly for 2 weeks. They refused to admit that's what it was AFTER I took it back and they fixed their mistake. They tried to tell me it was a head gasket issue. 2nd opinion (and the fact it stopped leaking after they connected the hose) showed there was no head gasket issue. Always get a 2nd opinion!
I had the exact problem. I took the car to AAMCO . They said the same thing , head gasket! Yeah Radiator! With very limited funds I was just as e lated!! Finding an honest mechanic is priceless. Subscribing.
This guy is Honorable. That's a trait that is rare today. Usually though when you change a radiator out, you should change the hoses and install all new coolant. He may have estimated a bit low. It's all good however.
nice to see there's honest mechanics still around... about the only other thing I figure he should probably have suggested is replacing the hoses along with the radiator...
This is a perfect scenario where ANY mechanic could easily and falsely diagnose this as a bad headgasket, do the radiator repair and charge for the headgasket job. Faith restored watching you, my man!!!
I've been a mechanic for 40 yrs now mostly do front end alignments and suspension work. I always bring people out to the car and educate them on what is going on.
I've been shown a list of places to never take my car. I now have two places that I trust. One is pretty high priced, but I do trust the work. The other is more reasonable, super busy, and stands behind what they do!
Obviously this guy is saving the customers a ton of money by building revenues off of his YT channel. Nothing wrong with that at all, and keeps everyone honest for the world to see.. but at the same time, taking this car to a cheap but honest shop (not on YT), I would expect to pay ~ $500.. for me, since I have skills to DIY, it would just cost me parts and coolant (~$125). Kudos to you sir, I do appreciate this content.
