Biggest part of my Trip was the last day, I heard about the Monkeys and was hoping just might get a chance to come close to one. The last day up for my early morning coffee heading to the lobby. To my Surprise pops out this monkey all the way across the resort. He walked right up to me, looked at me and wondered off. This moment really put icing on the cake. Thank you
Wow your so lucky to have that happen! We have only ever seen them hanging out on the bridge by the beach and one trip we didn’t see them at all! It is super cool to get to see wild monkeys up close though!
My daughters and friends are there today 07-19-2021, the resort is short of staffs, the beach has lot of seaweed. It's big difference compare to the last time we were there in 2013
Oh wow I’m sorry to hear that! Unfortunately the seaweed you can get lucky with or not and it’s plaguing so many hotels in the area. I am surprised about the staff though because we had no issue with that in April.
Funny story when I went like 8 months back a we went for lunch and left our swim out door open. Well a coati somehow jumped in a we came back to find half of our candy eaten and a coati chilling on my sister’s bed
Hahaha we actually had one come in our room as welll when we left the door open while we were in the swim out! He really wanted the coconut we had on our coffee table!
Great video, thanks. I'm staying here for 2 weeks from the UK before heading to Maine.. for work, not pleasure unfortunately! But this looks like a really nice resort. Hope to relax while I "work"!

@nathanb Hi there!! Got curious about your trip. Did you enjoy your stay? How is the beach? Herd that there is some changes due to a storm … never been too Mexico before , planing a vacation in march / April.
@@sabinaadolfsson389 Hi Sabina! We had a great trip. The beach was fantastic, no seaweed issues whatsoever and I think the middle of December is supposed to be one of the worst times to go. So apparently we lucked out with perfect weather. This is a very good resort, it is HUGE though and I'd say the worst part was the shuttles that drive you to the front and back areas. It was too long of a wait most the time so we opted to walk. Which for us wasn't a huge deal because the entire facility is gorgeous and our two kids are 6 and 7 so they don't mind walks. It was a lot of walking for us in particular because we stayed in the 'family club' part which is a group of rooms farthest from the beach that has child-friendly areas. We didn't end up using most those amenities though because we spent most our time up in the main pools and beach. If our kids were younger then the family club would have worked out better but I wish we would have stayed in one of the regular rooms closer to the front. The shows were great, the buffet food was just ok, what you'd expect at an all-inclusive. The reservation food was very good though. This was our 3rd 'all inclusive' and the 1st to Cancun side of Mexico. I have yet to have a bad experience at one!
@@MrNb131 this sounds great. We are flying all the way from Sweden so we really want to make sure it’s a good hotel. After theses years in corona isolation it’s time to get on a plain again ! Thank you so much for answering me 😊
@@sabinaadolfsson389 I hope you have a great trip! I think one thing I was surprised by was how many pushy sales people were there between the luggage claim and shuttle/bus pick up area. They intentionally funnel all the tourists through these areas. I'm glad we had transportation reserved but still accidentally got stuck in a pushy sales pitch just for asking for directions. WAY more soliciting than the Dominican Republic
Yes although it is not along the main strip in Cancun with all of the excitement, we like this resort because it’s a little more secluded! The area is really green and tucked away, with lots of wildlife!
I have been once with my family and it left an impression that has stuck with me since then.😊. We had such a great time there and the food was good. I hope to go back sometime in the near future. Thanks so much for the tour!😊👍🇨🇦
I'm so Jealous.. Your Video is Wonderful thank you for taking the time to put it together. I have been recently doing my research for my LONG OVER DUE TRIP. I have been to Mexico twice and loved going back. I think I may in the past have taken a peek at this one. But thanks to you its a Real Contender. Especially the ADULTS SECTION. May I ask do you have a section you would recommend in regards to the Swim Out because that's a MUST a Swim Out... I like the end rooms. Not so much the Middle.. Anywhoo, take good care . You all had an amazing time I sure of it. :-)
Thank you! The adults section is great because you can stay secluded over there and still have access to all of the other sections as well! In regards to the swim out, we actually like being in the middle a little more because it is a little more private with less people walking by! The end was kind of cool though because tons of people stopped to talk to us and we made a lot of friends!
Amazing!!! Thank you for the reply. I will take your suggestions and use them when making my decisions. Very Helpful... I usually travel in Oct/Nov. BUT since I have a milestone Birthday next year. ( wink wink ) I am considering June. :-) Any thoughts on season in June. Again thank you for your reply....
@@riciacampbell6264 we actually went in June the first two Times we stayed at this resort! We loved june more than April because the weather was a lot hotter, which made the pools and ocean water more refreshing. We very unluckily hit a small cold spell in April that caught the front end of our trip!
Haha sorry! There are a ton of bars! One in each restaurant, a bar in each lobby, a downstairs bar in the nightly entertainment area, at least 3 swim up pool bars, and a beach bar! You are definitely never far from a bar despite how large this resort is!
Thanks for sharing. we will be going for our 4th time in November. I noticed the walkway to the big pool with the swimup bar on the sunset side was blocked. Is that pool and bar open later in the day. My wife uses a wheelchair and that is the only pool she can use because it has steps into it. the other pools have ladders which she can't climb.
This video was taken back in the beginning of April when the hotel was at a low capacity. They had a few sections such as this one closed because it was not needed at the time. A staff member had told us that their capacity would be ramping up quite a bit by Memorial Day weekend/June, so I would definitely assume this section of the hotel is permanently open by now, and if not definitely by November and the holidays!

Such a great detailed video! I Thank you so much! So helpful! I wanted to ask if anybody knows if they offer airport shuttle? I see that they are 40 min from Cancun Intl airport.
We usually book through vacation express when we stay here. When you book on their site it offers the airport shuttle through sunwing for a small fee per person. It’s super helpful so it’s all set up in advance!
@@reillyadventures5485 Thank you so much. May I ask one more ? 😉👋 If anybody knows..... upon returning to USA travelers should have covid documentation, do you or anybody, know if they offer such at their resort?
Platinum is great if you really want peace a quiet, since this section has no children and is more laid back. We love the regular section of the resort though, due to the fact that it’s so large you can enjoy both a party atmosphere and a more quiet atmosphere! We also like being involved in all the action!
It was not super crowded at all and I definitely think more will be open! This was April and after speaking to the staff they said they planned to have the majority of the hotel open by June, so I am guessing it is almost back in full swing now!
@@reillyadventures5485 Sorry to randomly ask, but last time I went there was music blasting from the pool nearest to the beach. I think it is called the Fantasy Pool or somethin, is music still playin/blasting there?

Thank you! Yes the food is great and there are a lot of options! You can dine at any restaurant any night, as long as you make a reservation on their app! We try to go to each restaurant at least once and usually stay 8 days. Each restaurant has a good selection of appetizers, dinners, and deserts.

Thanks so much for the great video! We are going there in October & I was wondering about how to get our covid test to return to the U.S.? Does the hotel offer testing? How do we go about getting it? Thanks!!
Yes the hotel offered testing! They are doing in downstairs under the main lobby. It was a $35 dollar charge and they had you make an appointment upon arrival. They will give you a link to do this and you can always ask for the link again at the concierge!
The rooms are beautiful! They are always kept clean and are generally pretty large! The night life is usually great as well. They always have something going on like shows, fire dancers, mariachi bands, and even a market one night of the week.
Hello, is there any shared van going to and from Playa del Carmen? And are there any stores or coffeeshops or restaurants within walking distance from the hotel? Going there for 2 weeks in December and I am very excited. Thank you for the video!
So jealous you are going for two weeks! There is really nothing within walking distance. Playa del Carmen is a giant strip of highway and all of the hotels go pretty deep back off the highway. For safety purposes they have the hotel decently distanced from anything else and have a guarded entry way. Also I am unsure about the van, only because we normally book our van ahead of time through sunwing/vacation express. This is a shared van though and has been the cheapest option for us!
We always book our trip through vacation express to go to this hotel (also called sunwing in Canada). They usually book our shuttle to and from the airport with nexus!
I am actually not sure if they will let you in advance? I know they used to not let you. We have never needed to prior to arriving though and have no trouble getting all of the ones we want once we get there!
@@reillyadventures5485 Dont sweat the small stuff. As long as a/c is working all is good. It wasnt super clean, muggy and damp smelling. maybe the newer rooms would be better. Rooms were the worst part of my stay, but will go back.
Hi there, thanks for the great video. I am looking to go here in march of next year and wondering what the mask situation was like? Do you have to wear them inside going to your room etc? In the restaurants when not seated? Any input would be greatly appreciated
Thank you! We needed them super quick just to order drinks at the bar and the few feet from the entrance of a restaurant to our table. That was literally it though and you didn’t need them anywhere else! This was last April though, so restrictions may be different now.
Not brand new. I was there in 2009 abs those are the exact bathroom sinks walls everything. But yes very clean and nice. Swim our rooms is where we stayed. 4 nights. The 4 night stay and all inclusive and air fare was 816.00 per person
Yes! They do have golf carts and shuttles. Usually there are always staff riding them around and on the paths behind the rooms they have shuttle stops to take you back and forth from your room to the main lobby’s.
That was awesome! Thank you! We were on the fence with 3 different hotels for spring break and you've sealed our decision....Grand Riviera Princess it is!! PS We have two teenagers. How difficult is it to reserve one of the free water sports like the kayaks? Do you have to do it in advance or can you just walk up and ask for them?
I am very happy to be able to help! Your kids will definitely love the atmosphere and there is always something going on! The water sports were actually very easy to use and we hopped right on every time we wanted something! The most we waited was 10 minutes.
It was actually not available in the App Store and could only be downloaded from a QR code upon check in! It is called grand riviera princess though. Maybe try checking the hotel website and seeing if they offer a download option from there?
For some reason the app can only be downloaded through their site and not directly through the App Store, but here is the link: www.princess-hotels.com/en/app-hotels-caribe/
No it was not. If booking through them, they do probably offer an option to add it on but it was not included. We booked through vacation express/sunwing and they added it on for us!
Awesome video .. We will be there in 24 more days (1st time here) on the Sunset side .. Looking forward to flying south again after 21 months not able to fly south from Canada. Our darling PM Trudeau messed up our trip last March by getting all the airlines to not travel to Mexico or the Caribbean :'( I was just wondering, we are staying in the platinum suites, do we have to pay to eat at the Chill Out Restaurant like the rest of the guest at the resort?
That’s awful it took so long for you to be able to travel, but very exciting your trip is finally so soon! I know platinum has 2 or 3 restaurants that the main resort does not have access to, but I am not 100% sure if chill out is included as well. We have only ever stayed at the main resort during our 3 trips here and not in the platinum section!
Good morning, thank you for the wonderful video!! We booked an all inclusive for April! Looks wonderful! I was wondering if you knew if there was a free shuttle to and from the airport? I didn't pay for one, wasn't for sure who to pay. Thank you Carolyn
Some resorts offer a free shuttle but this hotel actually does not. We usually book through vacation express/sunwing and pay about $20 per person upon booking to have a round trip shuttle added to our trip. I would see if there was a way to set one up with them ahead of time, so it is waiting for you when you arrive!
Hi love the video!! We are booking a junior deluxe room, no swim outs available. Are the fridges restocked daily? Are the deluxe rooms in the same complex but on second floor or facing other side? Thanks!
Thank you!! Yes the fridges are restocked daily and we have even called the front desk to get extra beyond the restock! This hotel is actually enormous and I want to say there is a mix of those rooms both on the second floor and facing the other side of the building (not the pools)!
What was the exact location your room was located???? Building Area etc....what was the name of the restaurant right outside near your room???? you said it was close to the beach as well as being a good location on the resort!!! please can you give me a description so I can request this area. it doesn't have to be the same room but I know they have different room types in that same building.... I just want to be in this part of the property... thank you ahead of time great video
Thank you so much! We were the end swim out room right next to snack riviera! This room was right in between all of the main pools and closer to the beach than the main lobby!
Thank you! We honestly love the food because they have a good mix of authentic food (beans, rices, veggies, tacos, etc.) and your typical American options (fries, hamburgers, pizza). Every restaurant and buffet had a ton of options (chicken, fish, beef, pork, etc.) and we specifically like the hibachi, Italian, French restaurants the best! As for alcohol it was a lot of your general brands like Tito’s, baileys, etc. and they had a lot of off branded stuff as well. You can always ask for anything branded though and they normally pull it out!
Thank you for this very informative detailed Video!! Do you happen to know if any restaurants are at an additional charge and if so what type of food and how much?
Yes there are a few at an additional charge! I want to say one is another type of steakhouse and one is more sea food based. Both of these restaurants are included with the adults only section of the resort though. They also have a restaurant called chill out available, which is directly on the sand. After having dinner here once you also have access to this more private area during the day as well! I have never actually done any of these during our stays, so I am not completely sure on the price.

@@reillyadventures5485 hi my wife and I will be visiting this place in Aug. Just had a follow up question regarding the a la carte restaurants. They’re not in the “all inclusive” package right? Or am I wrong?
So I have never been to an all inclusive resort and I’m wondering how the whole food situation works. Do you get limited food at each restaurant or do you have only specific restaurants you can go to?
Usually at all inclusives such as this you can eat and drink as much as you want with no limit. Usually they just don’t allow you to take food in a to go container to keep people from over ordering. Other wise you can eat anywhere, order as much as you would like, and eat as many meals a day as you want. There are two restaurants here though that you can only eat at if you are staying in the adults only section.
@@reillyadventures5485 another question. We booked to stay here in january, yay! But when i am looking at their website under bars and restaurants it says “located princess sunset princess” is this sunset resort attached?
@@GETaYOTA yes they are basically the same hotel! They just give the two sides of the resort different names since the resort is so large and is makes it easier find things!
I want to say between 8:00-10:00ish. I am not exactly sure as I have seen people still in the pools at very late hours! Usually you will also see people using their swim out rooms late at night as well.
Going for the 5th time in September! They may be short staffed that is the bad reviews lately but the resort is clean, food and drinks are good and staff is friendly. Family friendly.
The wifi wasn’t great a few years ago but was actually better on our last trip there. The beach area can sometimes be spotty, in the rooms it was fine, and towards the main lobby area it was the best. If you ever encounter an area without it, it usually isn’t out for long!
Hi …first great job on the video 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I heard you say you opted for the swim out room, just wanted to clarify as I recently just booked this same category of room for my upcoming trip and would also like the swim out view like yours…so how do I make sure I get one pls?
You will love this room! I would suggest maybe calling or contacting them online and seeing if you can request a specific swim out? Ours was near the breakfast restaurants towards the beach, and we specifically had an end one. Maybe try telling them that and see what they can do?
@@MarySmith-xy6fp I actually do not remember! Most times when we were in our swim out we were close by in the pool. If we ever left the area we just went back through the room and made sure we locked the door behind us from the inside.
I just got back from princess riviera, its a nice place, the al e cartes are nice. The buffets alright, nice beach and pools. They have archery and shooting in the back
Yeah we have had no issues at all! Other people have mentioned that they do a breakfast and try to get you to join their “rewards program” but we never had that experience!

I am a little confused, our booking states "All Included" but we read breakfast is included as well. We want an all inclusive (food/drink/non motorized water sports) included so we choose this site. I've tried sending emails and we called twice to be told to call back later. Is this in fact all inclusive as I assume the above to be covered?

We have always stayed in the regular resort sections (riviera princess and sunset princess). While staying in these sections we did not use the kids club/kids pools but never had an issue going to the ice cream parlor! Also if you are staying in these general sections you cannot use platinum princess restaurants or pools (the adults only section). If you are staying in platinum though you do have complete range of all the pools and restaurants (except the kids section).

Thank you! The distance is about 30/40 minutes! We have had it take less depending on traffic! We also usually end up booking a transfer with vacation express that drops other families off at other hotels as well, which tends to skew the time. It is a pretty straight shot from Cancun though if you dont have any drop offs!

Hi I came across your videos when I was doing research for our next vacation. I got excited about the monkeys but is there really crocodiles 🐊 in the resort? If so what are the chances of coming across with one im freaked out now.
We have only seen the crocodiles on one of our trips there over the side of a bridge down in the mangroves. They are definitely nothing to be worried about and do not walk around the resort like the rest of the wildlife!
Yes this hotel is home to tons of wildlife! There are lots of monkeys, iguanas, pelicans, coaties, etc. both on the beach and throughout the resort grounds. None of these animals are dangerous and all keep their distance from people. They usually run away if you attempt to approach them as well, unless you purposely try and feed them.
Hi. Im planning on booking this vacation next month. Are the A la Cartes unlimited? How long is the bus ride from the airport to the hotel? Great detailed video.
Yes everything at this resort is unlimited! Also, it is about 30 minutes. It depends on which transportation you take to get to the hotel as well. We usually will use sunwing/vacation express and they will sometimes drop off other families at other resorts first which makes it take longer!
I have actually never been there in august so I am not 100% sure! I have been there in June with some seaweed, another trip in June with no seaweed, and this was taken in April and there was no seaweed!
I work here and it's not all inclusive, there are some extra services that you can pay for. When you book you have included drinks and food but in some categories like the junior suite you don't have some restaurants included
@@martineduardogarciamartine4626 does that mean that if one wanted to make reservations to have dinner at one of those restaurants one would need to pay out of pocket. Correct?
At about 6:10 in, crossing the bridge to the beach the commentators mentions the ‘Coaties’ !? Those would be (say it) coe-AW-tee-ace. Sound it slowly, then say it repeatedly faster.
Thank you for the nicely shot video : ) If you don't mind me asking, were people allowed to walk around and get their food at the buffet, and was there social distancing at the swim up bar?
Awesome video. My wife and I always go to Cancun every year. But this looks like a nice place to try.
We are glad you enjoyed it and definitely hope you and your family have the chance to go back soon! 😃
I’ve been there seven times. After watching your video I think I need to go again.
Haha we are already planning our trip back for next summer as well!
Video very well put together!
Thank you!!!
Than you for this hotel tour)
Nice video but do you realise you didn't film a sigle bar in the whole thing?! I like a drink so was waiting the whole time. Still thirsty 🤣
@@reillyadventures5485 thanks for the reply. now we are hoping we won't have to cancel again because of covid getting worse. we couldn't go last November, but we did go to the RIU Las Americas this Past June.

If anybody knows..... upon returning to USA travelers should have covid documentation, do you or anybody, know if they offer such at their resort?
Yes! They do Covid testing onsite at this resort in the lobby and provided email documentation.@@Simplysisters-m2t
Would you recommend the Platinum or Villa's
Platinum is great if you really want peace a quiet, since this section has no children and is more laid back. We love the regular section of the resort though, due to the fact that it’s so large you can enjoy both a party atmosphere and a more quiet atmosphere! We also like being involved in all the action!
Friends and I plan to go for spring break next year, think more will be open? And how crowded was it when you went?
It was not super crowded at all and I definitely think more will be open! This was April and after speaking to the staff they said they planned to have the majority of the hotel open by June, so I am guessing it is almost back in full swing now!
@@reillyadventures5485 Sorry to randomly ask, but last time I went there was music blasting from the pool nearest to the beach. I think it is called the Fantasy Pool or somethin, is music still playin/blasting there?
@@blackwholejoker there was still music most days by the pool, but it was a little calmer and quieter when we went this time since it was not as busy! I am assuming it is probably back to normal or close to it at this point in time though!
Hi great video very informative, is the food great and how many ala cart do get in 7 nights stay. thanks
Thank you! Yes the food is great and there are a lot of options! You can dine at any restaurant any night, as long as you make a reservation on their app! We try to go to each restaurant at least once and usually stay 8 days. Each restaurant has a good selection of appetizers, dinners, and deserts.

Hello! Great video. Quick question, how do you get from the Cancun airport to the resort. Does the resort offer a shuttle or do you book your own?
Contratas un transporte en el aéreo puerto y le dices que vas al Gran Rivera Promcess y le puedes también pedir que de regreso los recoja para ir nuevamente al aeropuerto
Hi! My bf and i are planning on going here in march of next year. How’s the night life? And how are the rooms?
The rooms are beautiful! They are always kept clean and are generally pretty large! The night life is usually great as well. They always have something going on like shows, fire dancers, mariachi bands, and even a market one night of the week.
@@reillyadventures5485 and there is a night club

Love your video. Can you tell me what month was this taken? I notice there was no seaweed issues at the beach
This was taken in April! Thank you so much!
Can you reccomend a Shuttle Company?
We always book our trip through vacation express to go to this hotel (also called sunwing in Canada). They usually book our shuttle to and from the airport with nexus!
Great video! Do you advice reserving the restaurant prior to arrival?
I am actually not sure if they will let you in advance? I know they used to not let you. We have never needed to prior to arriving though and have no trouble getting all of the ones we want once we get there!
Is there an adults only section
Yes it’s called Yucatán princess! It is right next door and when staying there you can share the main hotel facilities as well

The wifi is actually pretty decent in the rooms and main lobby/restaurants. On the beach I still got the wifi but it was a little spotty.

Hi, quick question. Is the family club attached to the hotel and close to the main lobby?
Yes the family section of the hotel is attached to the main hotel and is next to the main lobby off to the left!
What's the app called to reserve for the restaurants?
It was actually not available in the App Store and could only be downloaded from a QR code upon check in! It is called grand riviera princess though. Maybe try checking the hotel website and seeing if they offer a download option from there?

For some reason the app can only be downloaded through their site and not directly through the App Store, but here is the link: www.princess-hotels.com/en/app-hotels-caribe/
Hello! Was transportation provided from the airport to the resort? :)

Great video thanks! How is the food, honestly? What types of alcohol do they serve ie. what brands of vodka, rum etc.? thanks!
