    You actually created an easy segmented vase. With no rings involved. With a captive ring, I think the whole thing is just a wonderful project for any beginner woodworker! Thank you for sharing! Many blessings to you!

    I'd say flip it over and make a chalice of it. As always, your craftsmanship is outstanding! Thanks for sharing! More dragon eggs though please! I want to win one! You find the beauty in pieces of wood most people would just throw away. All that highly figured grain is so beautiful to look at.

      Andy Phillip agreed!! Amazing piece of art! I would've liked it as well if you kept the multiple "steps" on the top of the vase as well. Would've played off the cubes nicely, but the ring was brilliant

      Andy Phillip those are the harbor freight aluminum clamps right!?! I just got mine the other day! How have they held up? They seem decently built, basically identical to a pair of JET aluminum clamps I was bidding on. But I got the Labor Day sales event, 24" for $4.99!! So I stopped bidding lol
      Also, what type of glue are you using, looked clear? Just curious if it's better than the tightbond III, I'm attempting to make an end grain cutting board lol

    • @AndyPhillipWoodturning
      @AndyPhillipWoodturning  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm in the uk Phillip. . Got the clamps from tool station but could well be the same as the harbour freight ones they're basically a copy of the record clamps but a 3rd of the price they've held up great .. the clear glue was a polyurethane glue which goes off fast so I could turn it the same day .. cheers 👍

    I never rely on sawn surfaces to give a clean glue joint nor a beltsander to flatten a surface. The mark of a craftsman is gauged by the quality of his joinery. Always remember and never forget that filler, putty, caulk and paint make a craftsman what he ain't.

    • @AndyPhillipWoodturning
      @AndyPhillipWoodturning  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jon Rothenbusch .... I didn't rely on a belt sander or the table saw .. you must appreciate if I showed every single process of a project like this the video would be way to long .. I guarantee you there's no caulk filler putty or paint !!!
