    i dont know if there is a technical term for the stick you use to saw stuff really thin, but that hand is hilarious.

    I’m so grateful for channels like this. The times when I miss my Daddy, I come here and I remember the sounds and smells from sitting quietly in the corner thinking my Dad was a magician while watching him create. Thank you for giving me a place to come and be reminded of the most wonderful man I have ever known. I wish I had the time and money to invest in teaching myself how to do what my Dad loved the most. Maybe one day, when my kids are all grown up, I will. Until then, these videos will have to do. Again, thank you for sharing your talent and skill. It touches more people in more ways than you can imagine. Beautiful work. Almost as magical as my Daddy.

    Great craftsman, amazing skill- The gentleman spent minimum of 3 hours and used many special tools and materials above all his years long expertise. Forthe art to survive this piece art work must reward him well monetarily

    that was a real "hand" on approach, I'd offer you a "hand" but I see you already have one, so helpful to having an extra "hand" around (I could go on...), loved the vase , the unfinished grains were beautiful, the finished product...stunning!!!

    This is the best thing I saw this entire week. I'm happy I found this video, I love art, I do drawings but I really appreciate art in wood.
    Amazingly beautiful job, you need to love very much what you do to spend that amount of effort and time in a single piece.

    As an earthly person Jesus must have felt the same way when he created things as the son of a carpenter.

    It always looks good when it's got wax finish but this piece in particular had a cozy feeling to it before you added it. Maybe it's just me lol

    Как то работая в столярном цеху собрал шпон красного дерева и берёзы,порезал в размер открытки и перетасовав через одну и смазав смолой нанизал на круглый пруток, проложив бумагой зажал всё в паровом прессе, а затем зачистил на станке ленточном и покрыл лаком - получилась рамка для зеркала - аля зебра , потом её всё таки разорвало , но было очень красиво.Сделай что нибудь в этом направлении будет очень интересно!

      Thanks Doug ..I took a 1/4 " off both ends before mounting it in the chuck .. just thought it would be the easiest way to stop it all sliding about while doing the first glue up ..cheers

    Didnt he use some micropins from that nail gun in the glue step i would hate to grab one of them with a lathe chisel

      I looked at that a number of times, but before he mounted on the lathe the ends of the cylinder were straight cut, so I think he used pins at ends and then cut them out before he mounted on lathe just did not show in video. That's my theory.

      His theory is correct .. cut the ends off before chucking up ..not ideal using the pins but stopped it all sliding around ..cheers
