My favorites that I had the pleasure to be behind, but they are now quite old.
    1. AI AW in .338 Lapua, just incredible.
    2. AI AW in .308 Win, butter smooth.
    3. Barret M82, just rattles everything around you when you squeeze off a round.
    4. La France built Remington M700 in .223 Suppressed, so quiet you heard the trigger mechanism when squeezing.

Robert Furlong was the Canadian sniper with the longest confirmed kill shot with the McMillan Tac-50. The first shot hit just low into the ground, second shot hit the pack he was carrying on his back and the third shot hit the enemy in the head.

God I love your firearm wall. So many of my favourites. My dream would be to have one like that. Whilst owning guns here in Australia is quite restricted and regulated, it is still possible. We can have certain handguns, bolt actions, lever actions, shotguns and no more than 10 round magazines. To get a licence we also need a genuine reason like "Sport shooting" but even then we must be part of a registered club. Unfortunately we are not allowed to have them up on the wall like that (I believe if one was intending to be a collector he could, but one would need a "collectors licence' and the guns have to be partially or permanently made inoperable). Normally they gotta be kept in a safe with the ammo in a separate safe. And as far as I know we cannot use them for self defence.
    God damn it...

Seems more likely he got to play with a m82a1 and helped make the changes that turned it into the 107 but i dont think he was working the cad drawings with ronnie. I am currently working on my 90/30 Mosin-Nagant. I am turning it into a better version of what it was in World War II. Used by Russian snipers. And yes the absolute famous Finnish Sniper used to make 500 confirmed kills during the winter war. It is very satisfying to work on a piece of history. And bring the rifle back up to better condition than it was new. Yes I’m enjoying this project. Yes I have already shot this rifle after cleaning it up and getting her functioning properly. It’s a 4M O Way rifle at best. But that has changed. I’m probably going to have a brand new barrel made with current technologies. Because I want it to be accurate like the rifle is used by the Russian snipers in World War II. Yes I have already upgraded to the current scope mounts offered for it. The receiver had to be drilled and tapped in order to install the scope mount. And I’ve gotten the factory original trigger down to 3 pounds. But I think I’m going to install a Timeny Trigger set up that way I can have a 2 pound or less trigger. And I’m going to use the original wood stock. It’s been pillar bedded and shimmed.

The Achilles heal of any Remington 700 is the extractor. I’ve owned many makes of bolt action rifles. All have been great rifles for the most part. With Remington 700s it’s the weak extractor that can ruin your day. Even kept clean with good ammunition it’s likely you’re going to have a spent case stuck n the chamber, especially when you fire multiple shots. I have to say, while I agree the 338 Lapua is an awesome cartridge, there’s a 338 that overshadows it, this is the 338-378 Weatherby Magnum. Elmer Keith & Bob Thompson necked the 378 Weatherby down to .338” in the 1960s, and doing so set it on course to become king of the 338s. It seems there’s some 338 caliber envy from those who have the 338 Lapua. The 338-378 Weatherby Magnum rifles have a 1:10” twist which is certainly more than adequate for the longest & heaviest bullets which includes the 300 gr.

I've had my Remington 700 sps .30-06 for 16 years with no issues what-so-ever. Maybe I've been lucky.

Marines used the Winchester 70 alot at one time. Even Carlos used it a while.

If I remember the details from Henderson's book, USMC Capt. Land, who set up the scout/sniper program for 3rd Division, arrived to find that various units had an assortment of the older Winchester models, along with two types of scope. He was able to get a precision armorour to set up both the older Winchesters and the newer Remingtons then coming into service, and also acquired some 8x and 10x Unertl scopes. The 3rd Division armouour also fabricated some scope mounts that could be attached to the Browning M2, and the sniper team would mount the scope from their Winchester or Remington rifles to the M2. With the very solid M2 tripod, that gave snipers sited in high points a good long range and greater accuracy.. When the sniper team moved, all they had to do was dismount their rifles' scope from the M2 they'd "borrowed." and re-attach them to their personal rifles. A clever bit of field improvisation.

I'm a little lost modular sniper rifle you change barrels what do you do about holding zero accuracy in your scope I mean I suppose you could log the difference in adjustment but it's a sniper I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that without shooting it back in

I'm not the gun expert having the knowledge that my Grand-dad did have as he was always making his own hunting rifles, but was wondering about the high cost of a 50 cal. he made that would have the range and the with 4 different chamberings it was capable of shooting...does the price of $ 11 k include all 4 caliber chamberings when purchasing the AX 50 rifle?

Both the Remington 700 and the Winchester Model 70 are great .308 rifles, but the Savage 10 and 110 will readily match or beat both of them fresh out of the factory box.

    • @daveboling8411
      @daveboling8411 2 ปีที่แล้ว

There was a time back in the 90's when no one would touch a Savage because their quality control was horrible. One would shoot 1/4 MOA and the next would not only miss the barn but shoot the house instead, LOL. I haven't kept up with them over the years because there are so many other great guns out there now so I have no idea if they fixed that problem or not. Personally, I was surprised that a Steyr SSG was not in the lineup for the smaller caliber guns? Back in the 80's they were the ones to beat.

you are NOT wrong about the Mosin-Nagant 9130, it's my Pre-Obama rifle, picked it up for 100 bucks, and picked up 500 rounds of ammo back then for another 100 bucks -- it's loud, it's heavy, it's ugly, and it kicks like a MULE, and yet, it's the coolest rifle I own

Replaced it with a custom built AR-10, much more fun, and you can take them to the local ranges.
