Did you try reducing the 308 gas setting? That would bring the recoil down a lot.
I'm sure they turned it to suppressed.
I doubt that will fix the mag drop issue
I meant when they shot unsuppressed the harsh recoil happens when gas is set too high. They said they might try turning it down but it didn’t appear that they did try turning it down unsuppressed. It’s fine however, just inquiring.
It looks like they didn’t really look at the gas settings let alone know how to adjust it properly. If you’re going to shoot firearms Atleast understand the mechanics of them.
Great question. We tried reducing the gas below "normal" but the .308 WLVRN wouldn't pick up the next round. We only were able to reduce the gas reliably when shooting with the suppressor.
Kaya is shouldering the .308s like a 5.56 gamer rifle 😂. Half of the buttstock in the air.
You guys really need to tune the WLVRN gas. “Normal -“ is usually a good setting unsuppressed and “suppressed -“ for cans
Very strange that you guys didn’t adjust the gas setting on the .308 DT when unsuppressed. The feature is there, and the obvious thing to do before calling it a recoil hog
He did do it. It wouldn't feed proper so yeah this gun loves a can/muzzle attachments to lower recoil
I would love to see the rifles in different firing positions. Prone supported, prone unsupported, kneeling, side barricade and over barricade.
Just curious what's up with Clint?
He’s not in every video, man. Why? Did something happen?
This is a great comparison video, thanks Jason, Kaya & crew
It's always helpful to see how different models stack up against each other.
Really enjoyed. Love the tavors, thanks
Tavor 7 owner, just here for the confirmation of my confirmation bias lol
Confirmed, your bias is justified confirmation checks out!
At least you're honest
@@terrarecon it's easily one of my top 3 pews
@@breckfreeride Good to know. I am on the fence regarding what 308 bullpup I want to buy.
@@terrarecon if weight is a concern I really like the Ruger SFAR... Not a bull pup but almost 3lbs lighter
X95 needs a flow through like a hux...
Best vid yet! Thank you. Was looking at buying one of these for my next purchase but went with the Q Fix in 8.6 blk out due to how devastating and quite it is.
Tavor takes GOLD on BOTH!
My x95 paired with a Huxwrx suppressor is perfect. Highly recommend.
Sar 21 same
Tavor 7 was on unsupressed gas setting with a can on.
They didn't even notice lol
Another Great Video guys 💯 Thank you 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
That was actually really helpful.
Been eyeing the tavor x95 for a few years now. Only thing is damn near all the parts I would like to make it even better is never in stock..
I think the only reason the DT got hot was because of the slimmer handguard.
Wanted the 308 or 7.62 nato for both but I think I’d go with 5.56 now with the DT.
Good shot placement will always win over spray and pray.
Unless you’re doing Close quarters then it’s a different ball game.
I prefer accuracy over suppressive firepower.
One and done.
But having both is still on my list regardless.
As well as the hellion.
Iwi Tavor all the way
X95 and Tavor 7 all the way 💯 percent, i have no confidence in Desert Tech!
Not a lot of choices up here in Canada.. By far my favorite that we're still allowed to own, is the X95 Tavor in 556. All done up, what a beaut!
Both Tavors for the win!! 🤛👍
And support that antichrist country?
Did you adjust desert tech gas system to see if it kick less?
“Can you tell us why…” 😂😂😂

So what happened to Clint? I havent seen him on any videos in a min. The channel is not the same with out him.
I got rid of all my PMAG’s (9mm, 5.56 and 7.62) years ago, and replaced them all with Lancers, or Glock mags.
I just wish the Tavor 7 improved the twist rate and made it for 308 instead of just 7.62 Nato. Would help with accuracy and ammo options.
The Tavor is solid for close-quarters.
Agreed, but literally any decent bullpup is solid for CQB by default.
It still gets gapped by the wlvrn due to lower weight and better trigger
Man up or lady down a bit 😂😂😂😂😂
On the accuracy bit at the end- Im betting the wolverine would group better than shown with proper optic setup. It was roughly "the same" as the Tavor on 308 when the guy was pulling his face back with massive shadow box- you're not going to shoot as well in that condition. So end accuracy on 308 would probably also be better if properly applied optics were in play.
Overall I think the wolverine still has some growing pains. Seems like they set up a fine marksmen rifle that's not refined for high-volume fire. No idea if that's materials choice, design for cooling or shielding... but it's something they'll be able to figure out if they keep pushing
Favor👍👍. Awesome video Kaya and Jason.
Desert Tech WLVRN it's a good rifle, and i love how it looks, but IMHO IWI Tavor and Srpingfield Hellion are so much better!
In 223..I dunno if the Hellion is better..😅 but it is fun
There is a plastic clip you put at the end of the x95 rail...redirects gasses away from your face. the IWI youtube channel has an instructional video on it. I've never had an issue with gas again, even suppressed.
22:53 that jason face when people try to disagree with me and i know im right!
Gas issues? Try flow-through suppressors.
Hux ftw
Love my Tavor 7. I wonder if the mag drop issue on the desert tech is due to the high recoil. Adjust the gas and see if it improves.
It’s a worn out mag issue
The wrist isn't anywhere near high enough on those mag drops. Just desert tech things. They had issues with the mag retention on the mdr as well and was one of their iteration upgrades.
Wanted to like them so much for the modularity... Bought the tavor 7 and never looked back!
Someone posted videos of his wlvrn having mag retention issues. Got it fixed from desert tech quickly, but seems like qc with this company is still an issue
@@ghijkl sad to hear but they are literally Gucci guns...
love my Tavor7. would love to see more vids on it
Test these against the Springfield Hellion and Keltec RDB
Neither worth the air time... These are the contenders
@@breckfreeride Do you have any experience with the x95, dt, rdb, or hellion?
@@breckfreerideSpringfield vhs is very battle proven. Kel-Tec never. DT is owned by child exploiting polygamists that stop their daughters from going to school by the age of 10. And they marry the girls to uncles etc. Kingston group.
If you're looking for a bullpup 5.56 rifle the top 3 choices should be the IWI X95, Springfield Hellion, and the Styer AUG. You make compromises with each one (X95 accuracy, Hellion size, AUG trigger), but the WLVRN and RDB both have too many issues to be seriously considered for anything more than a range toy.
I agree!! I own 3 of the 5 that you named. I love my RDB at the range. But for anything serious, I'm grabbing the Hellion or x95.
I wanted my 7.62 to be a T-7 but after I got it, I just wasn't feeling it. I have the X95 and love it, and was expecting a similar experience with the T-7. It was operationally a fine weapon. I opted for a SCAR 17 to fill the 7.62 gap.
Thank you... I was debating on spending my hard-earned money on that thing.... I'll get the tavor or vhs...
I'd take a X95 in 300 blackout... except the ATF yanked the license to import, so Desert Tech is the American answer with caliber swaps!
Part of the desert tech recoil mitigation is due to the factory muzzle brake. Replacing the brake with a flash hider removes some of the engineering balance between gas port, recoil springs and brake. I know you put the same flash hider on each rifle but it still removes the factory engineered recoil management by removing one of the factors. Tavor may rely more on the springs and gas port size and removing the brake may not be such a big deal as it is on the DT.
Try a quick redo with the brake of your choice on both .308's and see if the DT settles down a bit along with the proper gas setting.
The t7 also weighs a pound and a half more.
It has more mild recoil?
No way!
@@JohnBrowningsGhost more like 2 lbs @9.4lbs vs 7.3lbs
@Odinforever2000 the Tavor 7 is 9lb even. I weighed mine the day I got it.
If the muzzle device matters that much then the company is wrong. You should be able to put any device on since suppressors are a thing.
@@boejiden1942😂 it’s made for their own suppressors they make as well….
wolverine has an adjustable gas block.

Bullpup life! 🦾
I just wish the Tavor issued a license for a US company to produce them. As it is, you can get a gun but parts (barrels, etc) are vaporware.
Keep in mind the WLVRN is a brand new gun, I also think the violent recoil is responsible for dropping the mag and luckily it’s a simple fix, adjust the gas!
it isnt new MDR-MDRX-WLVRN
@@wiskorabbit7710 it’s new because they removed parts and made significant changes to the chassis, that’s like saying no bolt actions are new because they use the same basic design
How hot does the DT get under sustained fire vs Tavor?
I'm most curious about long-term use, reliability, and durability. If shtf, which one you grabbing?
I absolutely love my Tavor 7 nothing better than iwi
“That’s 1 MOA”
Jason and Kaya, do you have a preferred muzzle device you use when attaching a suppressor?
Disclaimer I've never shot either one of these.
Not having the handguard with a bullpup. Rifle is a bit of a Miss, with an AR, it's fairly common to brace the magwell up against an object when firing from positions. Very common in three gun competitions. However, when you only have a finger groove instead of a handguard with a bowl pup, there's not really much to brace the firearm off of. I guess it depends on your shooting style but for a practical rifle that would be my main go-to. I would have a hard time using only the finger well.
we want more videos with kaya and his step sis
I wanted a but no one could get one for me so I got a Tavor 7 instead! CA laws sux
LOL me too.
Would the handguard get hotter if you took off the plastic cover they have?
Took over 200 rounds before the barrel on my tavor 7 started giving me real accuracy.
That’s good to know. What accuracy are you getting out of it now? Have you found a certain round to be the most accurate?
@@Vader4260 The best I've found is the AAC 168 gr match load. I'm getting just over 1 moa. Federal Gold I'm getting 1.5. When it was new I couldn't get anything less than a 3" group. 20" barrel version btw.
The x95 is a beauty
You only need one. For me IWI.
I love all bullpups.
Tavor all day.
The look of the WLVRN is what is selling for me, it’s just a nicer looking gun IMO..But I don’t think you can go wrong with either because they are very similar in a lot of ways..
Have the x95 great gun, smooth shooter. But I've thought about the Wolverine 5.56 just to see if I like it.
I feel like desert tech needs to at least switch to stainless steel on the upper receiver instead of aluminum. It is more stiff which can only help accuracy but stainless steel isn't nearly as heat conductive as aluminum. It is about 5-10% the thermal conductivity of aluminum. Their other option would be to cover the upper receiver in plastic like the tavor.
The weight though for stainless would be crazy... They'd loose the skinny factor and then just be a less reliable tavor
They may also be able to add some sort of ceramic coating to their paint as ceramics are insulators but I dont know if that would be enough. Probaby best to switch to stainless steel in the longer term and cover it with plastic or a ceramic coating as well.
@@breckfreeride I don't see how you are saying they would lose the skinny factor. It wouldn't be any wider.. Heavier sure but not wider. Also given how much stiffer stainless steel is than aluminum they could probably go slightly thinner on the thickness of the upper receiver so a stainless steel upper may actually be able to be thinner than the aluminum version. Yes it is still going to be heavier even if you thinned it down a little but it may not be much.
@@chaosfenix all good points. I was thinking if they had to go polymer like the tavor.
It doesn't seem like these guys take their time on these videos. They didn't take the time to find the appropriate gas settings before filming?
IwI ftw!
Yeah, if it had to be a wolverine, I'd only take 5.56 or 6.5cm
6.5 would be the only reason for the desert tech... Or maybe 300 blk... Neat pew but I prefer the 30hate anyway
"Wolverine"
Me: Nah, it's "Well-vern"
I'm a future weapon enthusiast, I had a favorite before watching 😬 But I'll never be able to get either 👎
You can pick up a used X95 for a very reasonable price. Get a few accessories you might need and you can be up and shooting for under 2k.

Good Goy
Havent seen the shooting yet but bet the tavor 556 would do better with 62 grain like it was designed for.
Yep my sar 21 doesn't like 77g either... 62 ftw!
While this is a great matchup, it isn't really fair.
The IWI Tavor is optimized for the 2223/5.56mm caliber, where the WLVRN is a Much more flexible platform, able to handle several other calibers. To handle calibers like 308Win, you'd need a Tavor 7, where the WLVRN platform can do that with a barrel/bolt swap (plus a couple of other pieces).
And based on the initial results, the WLVRN is also the more accurate system. So for me, the choice is a very easy one.
Yeah the Tavor is definitely the easy choice. IWI puts all of its firearms through a 20,000 round torture test before releasing. For a fighting rifle that you depend upon to keep you alive, the Tavor is a no brainer.
What about the Hellion
Definitely biased for the tavor….
