Good video but what I never see is advice when at a caravan park, I.e. how/where to situate your van the start reversing, where to start from (middle of road), how to blind park etc
Born and bred on a farm been towing for 50 years, never to old to learn something. Plus still stuff up occasionally so this is a great explanation for all.
Hands at the bottom for reversing is great logic. It is better than thinking about turning in the opposite direction. If you turn the bottom of the wheel to the right, do that, then get out and have a look at the front wheel. You will see that the back of the wheel has turned to the right. And that makes sense, as you are going backwards. Try to discourage your spotter from telling you which way to turn the steering wheel. The spotter should be saying, or physically indicating, turn to the right or left. It is the driver's job to figure out how to achieve that objective. Unless of course the spotter knows what he or she is talking about.
Terms like @let out and Peel off mean nothing without explanation. Please explain what you are doing as the key part is what to do and when once you’ve got it turning … Ie straighten wheels or turn to opposite side to follow van in
Apparently reversing a longer caravan is easier than a very short caravan...I just bought a tiny 11 ft caravan 😭 plus I can't find towing mirrors to fit my car mirrors!! I'm rapidly losing my confidence 😢
It's not easy, this is a skill that must be practiced many, many times 😮
